Grau Roig Andorra Boutique Hotel & Spa, a Michelin Key One-Keys property, consistently earns high praise for its luxurious comfort, exceptional dining, and prime ski-in/ski-out location in Grandvalira. Guests frequently describe their stays as "exceptional" and a "memorable getaway."
Overall Rating & Sentiment
The general consensus for Grau Roig Andorra Boutique Hotel & Spa is overwhelmingly positive, with exceptional customer reviews. It boasts an impressive overall rating of 9.2 on Agoda, with perfect scores of 10.0 for food and dining, and 10.0 for comfort. Similarly, Booking.com reviews show ratings as high as 10 for aspects like staff, location, and facilities, with an overall "Wonderful" rating of 9.0 based on many verified reviews. Guests often use terms like "fantastic," "luxury," "perfect," and "a rare find" to describe their experience.
Key Highlights
Guests consistently laud the hotel for several standout features. The ski-in/ski-out access to the Grandvalira ski resort is a major draw for winter sports enthusiasts. The luxurious and well-equipped spa is frequently mentioned as a highlight, offering a perfect retreat after a day on the slopes. Exceptional dining experiences are another key highlight, with guests praising the exquisite flavors and impeccable service. The hotel's blend of modern design within a mountain setting and the attentive, friendly staff also contribute significantly to guest satisfaction.
Room Quality
The hotel features 42 luxurious rooms, meticulously designed for comfort and tranquility. Rooms are described as spacious and well-appointed, with elegant furnishings and stylish decor. Many rooms offer modern amenities, high-tech bathrooms, flat-screen TVs, minibars, and some even include jacuzzis and mountain views. Private bathrooms are equipped with Bvlgari amenities, hairdryers, slippers, and bathrobes. While most interiors are pared-down and contemporary with dark brown palettes and wood finishes, one review noted that standard rooms might appear "strangely old-fashioned" compared to the generally modern aesthetic.
Dining Experience
The dining experience at Grau Roig is consistently rated as exceptional, achieving a perfect score of 10.0 for food and dining on Agoda. The hotel offers three distinct restaurants catering to various palates. La Marmita presents creative market cuisine with an avant-garde touch, focusing on seasonal products and Pyrenean gastronomy, offering an extensive wine list. La Vaqueria specializes in traditional Andorran mountain cooking, located right at the foot of the slopes and open for lunch, serving local products, grilled meats, and rice dishes. For a unique gastronomic journey, The Wine Theater offers a minimalist mountain cuisine paired with an astonishing selection of wines, seating only ten guests. Breakfast is particularly praised as "amazing" and "delicious" with a wide variety of choices, setting guests up for the day.
Service & Staff
The service and staff receive consistent accolades for their hospitality. Guests describe the team as "first-class," "attentive," "friendly," and "professional." Many reviews highlight staff members who "go above and beyond to make your stay enjoyable" and make guests "feel right at home." The impeccable service is a recurring theme, with staff being described as welcoming and knowledgeable.
Location & Accessibility
Grau Roig Andorra Boutique Hotel & Spa boasts an "unbeatable" and "perfect" location in the heart of the Grandvalira ski resort, situated at 6890 feet above sea level. It offers direct ski-in/ski-out access, being just steps away from multiple ski lifts including TSD 4 Cubil, TSD4 Antenes, TSF4 Xavi, and TSD Coma Blanca. This makes it an ideal haven for winter sports enthusiasts. In summer, the location remains appealing for hiking and other outdoor activities amidst the beautiful Pyrenees mountains and lakes. The hotel also provides a shuttle service for guest convenience. Its remote setting, where "the road ends here," emphasizes its deep connection to the mountains.
Value & Pricing
As a luxury boutique hotel, Grau Roig is considered "pricey" by some, but many guests perceive it to offer "luxury and value at its finest," especially during the summer season when prices might be more favorable. Average nightly rates can range from approximately $551 to $873, though prices can fluctuate significantly. January is typically the cheapest month to stay, with an average 22% drop in price, while February sees an average 22% rise, making it the most expensive.
Common Complaints
While largely positive, some minor criticisms have been noted. One review mentioned the spa area, specifically the pool and relaxation space, being "a bit small" and having a limited number of loungers and a jacuzzi for the hotel's capacity. Another review from 2017 expressed a high level of dissatisfaction without providing specific details. Additionally, while most rooms are lauded for their modern design, a comment was made about "strangely old-fashioned standard rooms" in contrast to the overall contemporary aesthetic.

We love this place! We picked the authentic room and it is spacious, cozy and very comfortable. Better to lower down the temperature otherwise it’s too hot in the room. Checkin & checkout are very efficient. Their customised service makes everything easy and not to mention the ski-in ski-out facility. Big shoutout to the chefs here - dinner was incredibly delicious, both in the gastronomy and the ...

The price/quality ratio is poor. I don't recommend the "Romantica" room. It's on the top floor (attic), and the mountain view is blocked by a balcony that's inaccessible. The windows are small, so you won't enjoy the panoramic view. The room doesn't look super fresh, but it's fine. However, it's surprising that in a 700-euro hotel, the hairdryer is attached to the wall so inconveniently as if they...

Disclaimer we came a day before to put out ski equipment and the stuff was very helpful so I put 3 stars for service although it should be less. The hotel is a lot more expansive than it should be (up until the current moment). I am right now going through the first day in the site here. Half of the breakfast menus are depleted. The stuff at the entrance does not speak English and there is a fe...

Spent $10k booking a family holiday for 2 rooms for 5 days that we were genuinely looking forward to - a relaxing ski holiday in a beautiful sanctuary in the mountains. However, it turns out there is no relaxation. I asked for an extra bed for the room they market as the Superior Double Room type, which says sleeps 3 people (1 king or 2 twins), but it does not actually have the ability to do two b...

Overall, I am rating the hotel 4 stars, but the customer service only 3 stars. We stayed at this hotel for one week. The hotel itself is good, with comfortable rooms and a very large, comfortable bed. Room cleaning and housekeeping were impeccable throughout our stay. However, the room lighting is not very functional: it is either too bright or almost completely dark, with no option to have, for...

Sadly had a very poor experience here Christmas Day. Service was poor, the gentleman taking the food orders was rude and abrupt. Food came cold, had to send 4/5 dishes back. Fries were even cold. The food itself tasted good but unfortunate they had to re heat most of the food. We were charged full price and no apology. We will not return for food. The hotel itself if beautiful.
