Key Highlights

Guests consistently laud the Flamingo Resort for several outstanding features:

  • Design & Ambiance: The resort's iconic mid-century modern architecture, dating back to 1957, has been meticulously reimagined, blending its historical allure with fresh, modern design elements and eye-catching retro and contemporary artwork. The aesthetic often evokes a vibrant Palm Springs or Las Vegas feel, distinguishing it from typical Sonoma County hotels.
  • Exceptional Amenities: The resort boasts two swimming pools, including a 25-meter lap pool, a hot tub, and a full-service spa offering massages and facials. The extensive fitness center, known as "The Club," is a major draw, featuring state-of-the-art equipment, tennis and pickleball courts, and a variety of group exercise classes such as yoga, Pilates, and barre.
  • Attentive Service: The staff and service consistently receive five-star ratings, with guests frequently praising their friendliness, responsiveness, and overall excellent hospitality.

Room Quality

Many rooms offer balconies or patios with serene views of the central pool area.

Dining Experience

The culinary experience at the Flamingo Resort and Spa is a highlight, with its on-site restaurant, The Lazeaway Club, serving "Cal-Pacific cuisine." This diverse menu draws inspiration from destinations ranging from Mexico to Thailand, utilizing fresh, local ingredients. Guests can enjoy breakfast, weekend brunch, happy hour, and dinner. Location & Accessibility

Located at 2777 4th Street in Santa Rosa, the Flamingo Resort is nestled in the heart of Sonoma Wine Country, often referred to as the "Valley of the Moon." Its prominent neon flamingo sign makes it an easily recognizable landmark. The resort serves as an ideal base for exploring the region's numerous attractions, including over 400 wineries, the Charles M. Schulz Museum, and the Luther Burbank Center for the Arts, all within a 15-minute drive. Downtown Santa Rosa is approximately 2 miles away, reachable by a short 7-minute bus ride or a 3-minute taxi.

Value & Pricing

The Flamingo Resort and Spa is often praised for offering "luxury at an unbeatable price" and is considered "fantastic value for money" compared to the average hotel room rates in Santa Rosa. While specific pricing varies by room type and season, average prices for a room are noted around $305, with deals sometimes available from $130-$200+. The extensive range of high-quality amenities, particularly the fitness club and spa facilities, are frequently cited as justifying the cost of a stay. The Michelin Key selection process itself evaluates "value for the price paid."

Common Complaints

While generally well-received, some minor criticisms have been noted:

  • Overbooking: One guest reported an issue with the hotel being overbooked, resulting in their room not being ready by 6 pm.
  • Pillow Comfort: A recurring comment from some guests mentioned that the pillows provided might be too high for their comfort.
  • Limited Dining Options: Although the main restaurant is highly rated, some guests have expressed a desire for more diverse food options beyond the primary on-site restaurant, and noted that dining can be on the "pricier" side.
  • Room Size for Families: For larger families, the standard historic rooms might feel a bit challenging in terms of space.
  • Aesthetic Expectation: While the mid-century modern aesthetic is a highlight, guests expecting an entirely brand-new, ultra-contemporary feel might find the "lightly updated" rooms to retain more of their vintage charm than a full modern overhaul.

We had s great time here. The rooms are dated and the toilets don’t function well. However, the room was very clean, and the staff were really nice and helpful. The pool is heated (great in the cold nights). The hot tub was perfect. And there is s great work out room!

This hotel has an undeniably striking look, with a fantastic retro 50s vibe that gives the entire property a unique charm. The décor feels thoughtfully curated—bold colors, vintage accents, and plenty of fun, cozy sitting areas where you can relax or catch up with colleagues. The bar is decent, and the pool is absolutely gorgeous—easily one of the best features of the place. Unfortunately, the exp...

If you actually need to sleep, the weekend is not a good time to rent here. There's a night club. There was a family with small children upstairs. I adore children. Hotel Staff Everywhere: please place families on the ground floor. It's easier for them and your other guests. I don't usually leave reviews, but I really needed some sleep and got next to none. Room is beautiful but structure itself ...

Staff was amazing. Helpful, attentive, and respectful. Hotel is all decked out for the holidays so ambiance was warm and inviting with a splash of fun. Room was clean and had what you needed. Older place but kept up pretty well. Pool area is great. Drinks and food a little high priced but they were good. Would totally recommend! Great for events and parties.

Service and food is great. But completely not like the pictures online. The rooms and bathrooms are really small and old. Beds are not queen but full size. Room has a back door that opens to parking lot. Feels super unsafe. Spiders in the room. Won’t come back again.

Had a nice 1 night stay here and would definitely stay again. For it being a Hilton, it has all the standardized amenities figured out (digital check in, allowing you to select your own room). Property is a cool mid century design with both exterior and interior room access, allowing for either quick exit to parking or a covered journey to the main lobby etc. Hot tub is on the small side, but it w...
