Corral del Rey in Seville, Spain, a distinguished Michelin Key Selected property, consistently earns accolades for its exquisite blend of historic charm and contemporary luxury, coupled with exceptional service and an unbeatable location.
Overall Rating & Sentiment
Corral del Rey enjoys an overwhelmingly positive sentiment, frequently described by guests as a "favorite" and "exquisite" hotel. It holds a high guest score of 19.5 out of 20 from verified MICHELIN Guide guests, reflecting its status as a highly recommended boutique destination. The consensus points to a truly special and memorable stay.
Key Highlights
Guests consistently laud several aspects of Corral del Rey:
- Superb Service: The staff's welcoming nature, attentiveness, and proactive assistance with recommendations and bookings are frequently highlighted.
- Exceptional Design: The hotel's meticulously restored 17th-century palacio features a seamless blend of original architecture, such as a three-story atrium, Roman marble columns, and carved wooden beams, with unapologetically contemporary design elements.
- Prime, Quiet Location: Tucked away in the winding streets of the Barrio Alfalfa, it offers easy walking access to major attractions like the Cathedral and Alcázar while providing a peaceful retreat from the bustling tourist areas.
- Rooftop Terrace with Plunge Pool: The stunning rooftop terrace, featuring a bar, a small plunge pool, and panoramic views of Seville and the Giralda tower, is a major draw for relaxation and enjoying the cityscapes.
- Intimate Atmosphere & Amenities: As a 17-room boutique hotel, it offers an intimate and relaxed ambiance, complemented by amenities such as an honesty bar, comfortable lounge areas, and free Wi-Fi throughout.
Room Quality
The hotel's 17 bedrooms, including various suites, are often described as lovely, comfortable, chic, and beautifully decorated. Each room possesses a unique character, incorporating natural linens, hand weaves, exquisite fabrics, bespoke sofas, and curated artwork. Modern conveniences are plentiful, featuring espresso machines, high-end televisions, stereo systems (some with pre-loaded iPods), DVD/CD players, and free Wi-Fi. Bathrooms are luxurious, often crafted from marble and limestone, equipped with spacious walk-in rain showers, and some suites offer double sinks or extra-long bathtubs. While rooms in the main house are noted for their atmosphere, those in the newer annex provide a bit more space.
Dining Experience
Corral del Rey features an all-day restaurant and tapas bar that serves breakfast, tapas-style lunch and dinner, and afternoon tea. The continental breakfast is often included in the room rate and receives high praise for its generosity and quality, including delicious pastries, fresh orange juice, breads, homemade jams, fruit salad, and yogurt. Cooked breakfast options are also available for an additional charge. Guests have enjoyed breakfast on the rooftop terrace, describing it as a very relaxing experience.
Service & Staff
The service at Corral del Rey is consistently rated as exceptional, with staff described as superb, welcoming, helpful, and delightful. Guests frequently commend the staff for going "above and beyond" to ensure a happy stay. This includes providing excellent restaurant and bar recommendations, assisting with tickets, making reservations, and even arranging bespoke tours of Seville. The warmth, hospitality, and attention to detail from the initial email exchanges to departure are repeatedly highlighted.
Location & Accessibility
Located in the historic Barrio Alfalfa, Corral del Rey is nestled within a labyrinth of winding, cobblestone streets. Its location is considered "unbeatable", being just a 5 to 10-minute walk from major attractions such as Seville Cathedral, the Giralda tower, and the Alcázar Palace. The hotel is also conveniently close to the pedestrian-friendly city center, offering easy access to shopping, dining, and nightlife, yet guests appreciate feeling "far from the tourist-world". The Flamenco Dance Museum is only a few steps away. While public transportation isn't the primary way to navigate the flat city of Seville, taxis are available, and the Santa Justa railway station is less than 2km away. However, due to its tucked-away nature, guests are strongly advised to arrange airport or train station transfers directly with the hotel, or call for assistance if arriving by car, as it can be challenging to find for the first-timer.
Value & Pricing
As a luxury boutique hotel and a Michelin Key Selected property, Corral del Rey is positioned at a premium price point. Rooms have been noted to start from approximately 280 Euros per night. While one review mentioned a room feeling "small considering the price", the overall sentiment suggests that the exceptional quality of accommodation, personalized service, and unique experience justify the cost for most guests. The Michelin Key selection criteria emphasize "excellent value for the price", indicating that the hotel delivers on its promise of a high-end experience commensurate with its pricing within its category.
Common Complaints
The most frequently mentioned minor inconvenience is the hotel's somewhat hidden entrance and the difficulty guests might experience finding it initially due to the narrow, winding streets of the old quarter. This is often proactively addressed by the hotel, which advises guests to arrange transfers or call for guidance upon arrival. Beyond this, there are no significant or recurring complaints about the hotel itself, reflecting its high standards of guest satisfaction.

I am convinced this is the best hotel in Seville. We visited the place and we were give an upgraded room to celebrate a special occasion for our entire stay. The room was spacious and had original historical items. The decoration was also historical and astonishing, but the bed and bathroom were modern which was very nice. The location is very good and we visited everytging during our stay by walk...

Lovely Stay, Let Down at the End. We stayed 9 nights at Corral del Rey Hotel in a suite and a standard room. The rooms are well appointed, accessible by stairs or lift, with good bathroom amenities and very quiet air conditioning/heating. The included continental breakfast is good. Pre-arrival communication was very good, staff were friendly and accommodating (including providing breakfast-to-go ...

A beautiful hotel in an excellent location (down the cobbled winding streets of Seville and short walks to most parts of the city). The decor was updated-traditional and the rooms were lovely, large and well appointed. The vibe was chilled. The staff were very friendly and helpful too. Would definitely restay here.

Genuinely cannot fault this hotel - a feeling of understated luxury and style throughout, with gorgeously designed spaces, staff who couldn’t do enough for us and a location a stone’s throw away from the main sights but tucked away in a quiet little street. One of my favourite places to stay and will be returning!

If I were to pick one thing that makes this hotel stand out among the many hotels I have stayed in, it is definitely pre-arrival service. They go absolutely above and beyond in every way to ensure you have everything in place for an excellent stay. Terrific restaurant recommendations, assistance in making reservations for key sites, anything you need. Truly one of the best in helping me prepare...
