Overall Rating & Sentiment

The general consensus for Carnival Palace Hotel is overwhelmingly positive, with an average guest rating often exceeding 9 out of 10. It is widely regarded as a fantastic choice for travelers seeking a luxurious and comfortable experience in Venice, away from the main tourist throngs but still conveniently located.

Key Highlights

Guests consistently rave about several aspects of the Carnival Palace Hotel. The exceptional and friendly staff, the quiet yet convenient location, the spotless and well-designed rooms, and the fantastic breakfast are repeatedly highlighted as major draws. The hotel successfully avoids some of the common stylistic pitfalls of traditional Venetian hotels, offering a refreshing, sumptuous modern luxury.

Room Quality

The 67 rooms at Carnival Palace Hotel are described as spacious, comfortable, and spotless. Each room is uniquely designed and well-appointed, featuring high-end furnishings such as Murano glass chandeliers. The beds are consistently praised for being very comfortable. Bathrooms are roomy, often clad in gleaming Carrara marble, and may include chromotherapy lighting and extravagant sinks with gold or silver leaf accents. Further options like a rooftop garden view or a private jacuzzi on an adjacent terrace are available. Amenities typically include air conditioning, minibars, safes, down comforters, digital television, rainfall showerheads, slippers, bidets, hair dryers, complimentary wireless internet access, desks, phones, and bottled water.

Dining Experience

The breakfast at Carnival Palace Hotel receives widespread acclaim, with guests frequently describing it as "fantastic," "delicious," and "so tasty." It is served in the Palace's cozy dining area, or, weather permitting, in the charming rooftop garden. The hotel also features a bar, The Mask, located in the rooftop garden after hours, known for its extensive wine list. Room service is also available.

Service & Staff

The hotel staff are consistently described as exceptional, extremely friendly, helpful, responsive, and polite. Guests appreciate their professionalism and the excellent concierge recommendations provided. Many reviews emphasize that the staff contribute significantly to making the stay a cut above.

Location & Accessibility

Carnival Palace Hotel boasts a "nice, convenient, and quiet location" on a smaller canal in the Cannaregio district. This placement allows for a peaceful retreat away from the most crowded tourist areas, yet it remains easily accessible. It's approximately a 10-minute walk from Santa Lucia Station and a short walk to several water taxi stations and public transport (vaporetto) connections. The hotel is about 0.8 miles from the Venice city center and 4 miles from Venice Marco Polo Airport. Nearby landmarks include the Ghetto di Venezia and Canal Grande.

Value & Pricing

While offering sumptuous modern luxury and Michelin Key recognition, the Carnival Palace Hotel is often considered to provide excellent value for money in Venice. Room prices can start from around $96 per night, with an average nightly rate typically ranging from $118 to $321-$395, depending on the room type, season, and day of the week. This pricing positions it favorably, often being more affordable than other 4-star hotels in Venice.

Common Complaints

Specific complaints directly related to the Carnival Palace Hotel are rare and generally minor, reflecting the overwhelmingly positive guest experiences. Older reviews mention an occasional room not being ready upon early morning check-in and a slight initial difficulty in finding the hotel. One guest also expressed not understanding the "weird purple colored lighting" feature in the shower and noted a lack of in-room coffee or tea facilities. However, these do not appear as recurring issues in the majority of recent feedback. The hotel is consistently praised for its cleanliness, comfort, and service, indicating that any minor issues are anomalies rather than systemic problems.

Amazing hotel. Staff are lovely and attentive. Rooms spotless and very comfortable. Beautiful bar. Would highly recommend you go and have a drink in the bar…. Especially if Massimo is there, he’s wonderful, he will make your evening. All the staff were 5 star. The breakfast selection is fantastic, it’s one of the best breakfast buffets we’ve ever had in any hotel we have stayed in. The view of the...

Have to be honest. A very poor 4 star at best or okay 3 star hotel. Reception staff polite and professional but the room, which through bookings.com was not cheap at all, was not clean, was dirty, needed refurbishment, had exposed electrical wiring, and needed refurbishment. Checked out after one night and moved to the Hilton instead, which is the quality you expect when you pay that kind of money...

And the bar was a perfect stop to start or end your night! The location i personally thought w...

Great quiet hotel, good breakfast with hot dishes. Clean. Polite staff. Airport Marco Polo not so far. Thank you so much for surprising us as a couple (room decoration). Delicious cappuccino, comfortable room. The pillows were a bit hard. We also really wanted a room with a bathtub, but we didn't get one. Anyway I like the hotel, good money for value.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Carnival Palace. The location is not very far to walk from St Lucia train station and is in a quiet region of Venice, not far to walk to get into the busier areas making it a great location. We had a canal view room, the room was clean, and comfortable, I would have loved to take the mattress home. The staff are friendly and attentive to your needs. We wou...
