Common Complaints
While overwhelmingly positive, a few minor criticisms and considerations are occasionally mentioned:
- Bold Decor Preference: The highly artistic and eclectic decor, a major highlight for most, can be "a bit overwhelming" or "not everyone's taste" for some individuals. A rare negative review described the art as "garish" and "pointless pretensions."
- Bathroom Amenities/Wear: One guest noted minor wear on bathroom wood and was unimpressed with the quality and aesthetics of the provided toiletries.
- Service Attentiveness: Although generally excellent, some feedback suggested staff, while friendly, were not always as proactive or attentive as might be expected from a top-tier luxury hotel.
- Additional Charges: A taxi pickup charge of €80 from the train station disappointed one guest.
- Seasonality: The hotel's seasonal operation (closed mid-November to early March) means it's not available for stays year-round.

Such a special treat to stay at this hotel. The art is amazing. The room was spectacular. The breakfast buffet interesting and varied. The service was great. The towels were the softest I've ever experienced. The pool was so luxurious. The only criticism... change the poolside music (!). I dunno how the pool staff cope listening to the same, same, same bland music over and over. The pre-opera rest...

A truly unique hotel ,more like staying in a living art gallery than a typical hotel. Stunning design, brilliant service, and special thanks to Mr Andrea, Head of Marketing, who went out of his way to help us. Rooms are stylish but note there’s no tea-making facilities, no iron/board, and only an espresso capsule machine. And no room service after midnight. Still, a memorable stay and we’ll defini...

If it was a 3 star hotel I would give an higher score… but it is not. Apart from the great art collection all the rest was a shame. Rooms with no maintenance, old bath/shower. Spa was closed and no one told us at booking. Bar was always unattended. Michelin star restaurant not at standard. No service in general. Staff was friendly and helpful and they give us a discount at check out (nice). Maybe ...

We were here for a wedding in June 2024. The villa and the grounds are stunning, and worth the stay for the first time. However, there are some kinks with respect to room allotment and the air conditioning that needs to be worked out. It seems the hotel went through a recent renovation that left the room numbers mixed up for guests and staff (for example, a wait of over 2 hours for room service b...
