Expert Review: Best Western Plus Hotel les Rives du Ter

The Best Western Plus Hotel les Rives du Ter in Larmor-Plage, a Michelin Key Selected property, is highly regarded by guests for its tranquil setting, modern amenities, and attentive service. Renovated in 2018, the four-star hotel offers a blend of contemporary comfort and a homely atmosphere by the picturesque Étang du Ter lake.

1. Overall Rating & Sentiment

The hotel generally receives excellent feedback, with high ratings across various platforms. Guests frequently describe their stays as "Fabulous" or "Exceptional." Specific scores highlight cleanliness (9.5), comfort (9.5), and staff performance (9.5) as particularly strong points. The overall sentiment is overwhelmingly positive, emphasizing relaxation and enjoyment.

2. Key Highlights

Guests consistently praise the hotel's beautiful natural location on the serene shores of the Étang du Ter, offering a peaceful and relaxing environment. The modern decor, friendly staff, and the presence of a nice indoor pool and spa area are frequently mentioned as key highlights. Many appreciate the lovely views of the lake from their rooms and the restaurant, along with ample free parking. The hotel also holds a Green Key certification, indicating its commitment to sustainability.

3. Room Quality

The 58 rooms are described as modern, clean, and comfortable, with many offering spacious layouts. All rooms are air-conditioned and soundproofed, featuring large beds (either one queen or two twin beds). Amenities include LCD TVs, minibars, free Wi-Fi, and tea/coffee makers. A significant draw for many guests are the private balconies or terraces, often providing breathtaking views of the lake. Private bathrooms come with bathtubs or showers, complimentary toiletries, and hair dryers. Some rooms are designed to accommodate families or groups, fitting up to six people.

4. Dining Experience

The hotel's on-site restaurant, "La Terrasse du Ter" (also referred to as "Cote et Ter"), serves bistronomic, refined, and contemporary French cuisine with a focus on local products. The restaurant is open daily for lunch and dinner, offering a chic, warm, and relaxed atmosphere, often with outdoor terrace seating and views of the lake. The breakfast, served buffet-style, is highlighted as varied and very good by many guests. A brunch formula is also available on Sundays. While the food quality often receives praise, some guests have noted issues with slow dinner service during busy periods and perceived the bar as expensive.

5. Service & Staff

The staff and service at Best Western Plus Hotel les Rives du Ter are consistently lauded. Guests frequently describe the team as friendly, amazing, welcoming, accommodating, professional, and remarkably available and attentive. Many reviews highlight the staff's positive demeanor and willingness to provide advice and information with a smile.

6. Location & Accessibility

The hotel boasts an idyllic and peaceful location on the banks of the Étang du Ter lake, surrounded by a green natural setting. It is conveniently situated halfway between Lorient and Larmor-Plage, just a 5-minute drive from the beach. The area is ideal for walks and runs, with a pleasant 7 km loop around the lake. Lorient, with attractions such as the Cité de la Voile Éric Tabarly and the U-boat museum, is approximately a 7-minute drive away. While the hotel is well-located for tranquility and outdoor activities, guests note that it is somewhat distant from Lorient city center, making a car highly recommended for exploring the wider area. Free private parking is available on-site.

7. Value & Pricing

The hotel is generally considered to offer good value for money, with a rating of 8.5 for this category. While specific pricing varies by date and room type, nightly rates observed for early 2026 range approximately from €124 to €205. The buffet breakfast is priced at €18 per person. Some guests have found the bar prices to be on the higher side.

8. Common Complaints

While generally positive, a few recurring or notable criticisms have been mentioned by guests. Some isolated incidents, such as a report of "blood on the shower floor" and inappropriate behavior by a couple in the pool at night, have been noted, though these appear to be isolated rather than systemic issues. One guest experienced issues with the breakfast buffet not being replenished adequately for late risers. The restaurant's dinner service has received criticism for being slow and for the pricing of certain dishes, leading some to recommend dining elsewhere in Larmor-Plage. During exceptionally cold weather, one reviewer noted that their room felt cool during the day despite thermostat adjustments, becoming too warm at night. Additionally, the hammam in the wellness area is described as being quite small.
