Expert Review: ARRIVE Albuquerque

ARRIVE Albuquerque, a Michelin Key Selected property, offers a vibrant and stylish experience in the heart of Downtown Albuquerque, garnering generally positive feedback from guests. Housed in a revitalized 1965 Downtowner Motor Inn, the hotel blends a nostalgic retro aesthetic with modern amenities and a focus on community engagement.

1. Overall Rating & Sentiment

The overall sentiment for ARRIVE Albuquerque is largely positive, with guests frequently recommending it for its ambiance and service. Review platforms show ratings ranging from 8.4 to 9.0 out of 10 for aspects like cleanliness, service, and location. However, the "value for price" often receives lower scores due to additional fees.

2. Key Highlights

Guests consistently praise several aspects of ARRIVE Albuquerque, including its friendly and helpful staff, the clean and stylishly designed rooms, and the hotel's vibrant atmosphere. Its central location, particularly its proximity to local events and attractions, is also a significant draw. The outdoor pool, 24/7 fitness center with Peloton equipment, and on-site restaurant and bar are valued amenities. The hotel is also noted for highlighting local artists, designers, and small businesses, contributing to its unique character.

3. Room Quality

The guest rooms are described as bright, comfortable, and thoughtfully designed with a modern Southwestern-inspired charm. They feature cheerful checkered-tile floors, floral-patterned headboards, and custom-built furniture, creating a cool retro look. Comfort is a priority, with beds outfitted in Bellino Fine Linens, and plush robes provided. Bathrooms are retro-styled and stocked with Grown Alchemist bath amenities, and showers are often highlighted as "miraculous" with rainfall showerheads. In-room amenities also include curated minibars, flat-screen TVs with premium channels, work desks, and Victrola Bluetooth speakers. Spacious suites offer separate living rooms with modular sofas and workstations.

4. Dining Experience

The hotel's on-site restaurant and cocktail bar, DWTNR Cocktail Bar & Lounge, provides a unique dining experience. It offers a menu that blends Americana comfort food with Pan Asian-American classics, featuring local flavors and ingredients. DWTNR serves breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner, and features happy hour specials. While breakfast is available, it is not complimentary and incurs a fee. Guests have generally found the evening meals at the restaurant to be very good.

5. Service & Staff

The service at ARRIVE Albuquerque consistently receives high praise from guests. Staff members are frequently described as incredibly kind, helpful, friendly, and attentive. Many guests have reported exceptional experiences, with staff going above and beyond, such as assisting with travel arrangements.

6. Location & Accessibility

Located on Central Avenue (historic U.S. Route 66) in Downtown Albuquerque, the hotel overlooks Robinson Park. Its central position makes it convenient for visiting local attractions, including Kimo Theater (a 4-minute walk), the Albuquerque Convention Center (less than 0.6 miles), and ABQ BioPark Zoo (1 mile). The Alvarado Transportation Center is a 13-minute walk away, and the Albuquerque International Sunport (ABQ) is approximately a 14-minute drive. The hotel offers various accessibility features, including wheelchair-accessible paths, elevators, and public washrooms. While the location is often appreciated for its proximity to downtown activities, some guests have expressed concerns about noise levels from the street and the perceived safety of the immediate neighborhood, particularly at night. The hotel, however, maintains 24/7 on-site staff and security.

7. Value & Pricing

Room prices at ARRIVE Albuquerque typically start from around $85 to $129 per night, varying based on dates and policies. While some guests find the price fantastic, a common complaint relates to the overall value due to additional fees. Valet parking is available but costs USD 28.21 per night, and a non-refundable pet cleaning fee of USD 50 per stay (for dogs up to 30 lbs) is also charged. These extra charges can significantly increase the total cost, leading some guests to question the value for money.

8. Common Complaints

Despite the many positive attributes, a few recurring issues are noted by guests:

  • Noise Levels: Some guests have reported significant noise from outside traffic, particularly at night, and occasionally from within the hotel itself.
  • Additional Fees: The cost of valet parking and pet fees are frequently mentioned as unexpected or high, affecting the perceived value for the price.
  • Neighborhood Safety: While centrally located, a few reviews express concerns about the safety of the immediate downtown neighborhood, especially during late hours.
  • Inconsistent Housekeeping: One guest specifically mentioned that room cleaning sometimes amounted to only a towel swap, rather than a full cleaning.

What a great hotel! The location can't be beat. The room was beautiful and so clean and comfy! And the staff was amazing! Every single person was friendly and helpful in every way, sometimes even anticipating something I might need. We are recent ABQ locals and wanted to go out for NYE. This hotel is phenomenal! Such a kitschy, midcentury vibe. Our bed was genuinely so comfortable from the mattress to the blankets to the pillows that we talked the next morning about how we no longer like our own bed at home. Restaurant was great - a nice, consolidated menu with strong Asian influences. It was too cold for the pool but trust w...

Absolutely adorable in the design. I loved the room and it was dog-friendly. The toiletries were great and I truly enjoyed the attention to detail. The minibar was stocked with some of the top items which I thought was really fun. Too cold for pool and shame restaurant was shut when I arrived but friendly staff made us feel welcome and gave us tips for the area.

This was one of the cutest hotels I’ve ever stayed in. It was also clean and everything worked. There were qtips, lotion, and makeup remover pads. The only trash can was in the bathroom and that was a little weird, but not a huge deal for only staying one night. There’s a neat art gallery downstairs and there was an open mic night when we went. The hotel lobby was very comfortable. If I ever visit...
