8. Common Complaints

While guest feedback is overwhelmingly positive, a few minor points have been occasionally raised:

  • Room Size: Some guests find the rooms to be "small" or "compact," which can be a characteristic of boutique hotels housed in historic buildings, though they are consistently described as comfortable and well-designed.

  • Air Conditioning: A single review mentioned that the air conditioning in their room "could have been stronger," though a window to a quiet courtyard helped with airflow.

We had a truly lovely stay at this charming hotel in Portugal. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel genuinely welcome—gracious, attentive, and always ready to help with a smile. The hotel itself is quaint and impeccably clean, tucked into a wonderful location that made exploring the area a joy. While the rooms are on the smaller side, that’s part of the charm and entirely expected in...

We had a wonderful experience at this hotel! When we arrived early at the hotel, we had an emergency, and the hotel staff were so incredibly helpful in getting everything all sorted out for us. Since we arrived many hours before check-in time, the staff safely held our bags for us while we explored the city, and to our surprise, they called us to let us know the rooms were ready early and when we ...

What a gem of a hotel! This was definitely one of my best must-come-back-here hotels in recent years. AlmaLusa - literally "Portuguese Soul" - is a group of 3 boutique hotels in Portugal - two in central LIsbon and one in hipper-than-hip Comporta. I stayed in AlmaLusa Alfama, and its location is perfect - downtown historical Lisbon, literally next to the river, and on a pedestrian square, so yo...

After weeks of travel at different hotels and rooms, AlmaLusa was pure bliss. The weather during our trip to Portugal was quite unfortunate but the gorgeous suite we stayed in, incredible breakfast and friendly and welcoming staff made it the highlight of our time in Lisbon! The decor is gorgeous, location ideal and music fantastic.

Wonderful visit (5 days!) This hotel and staff really made my stay so comfortable. I had a drink at the hotel bar (their outdoor patio area is great for people watching!) and it was so good (see photo), I was waiting an hour for my room to be ready. Later on that night, I had a knock at the door, and a bottle of sparkling wine and a cute chocolate cake came as hotel gifts. When I left, they gifted...
