Expert Review: W Amman
The W Amman stands as a prominent luxury hotel in the heart of Jordan's capital, consistently receiving positive guest feedback for its modern design, excellent dining, and vibrant atmosphere. While the prompt identifies it as a Michelin Key Selected property, available information indicates that W Amman is included in the Michelin Guide Hotel Selection but has not yet received a specific Michelin Key rating, which is a new global benchmark.
Overall Rating & Sentiment
The general consensus for W Amman is highly positive, with average ratings typically around 4.5 out of 5 on various platforms. Guests frequently describe their stays as "exceptional," "amazing," and "phenomenal." The hotel is lauded for its blend of contemporary luxury and energetic vibe, making it a popular choice for those seeking a modern experience in Amman.
Key Highlights
Guests consistently praise several aspects of the W Amman:
- Design & Vibe: The hotel boasts a funky, modern aesthetic with hyper-colorful design and playful touches, incorporating local Jordanian flavor and art inspired by Petra's rock formations. The "Canyon Walk" entrance, a futuristic take on the Siq canyon, is particularly noted.
- Breakfast: The breakfast spread at the Mesh restaurant is frequently highlighted as one of the best city hotel breakfasts, rivaling five-star resorts and offering a wide variety of Levantine, Western, and local Jordanian specialties.
- Location: Its prime spot in Al-Abdali, Amman's "new downtown," is a significant draw, offering easy access to shopping centers and "The Boulevard" with its array of restaurants and cafes.
- Service: Many guests commend the friendly, professional, and attentive staff, with specific mentions of individuals who go above and beyond.
Room Quality
W Amman's rooms are described as spacious, beautifully designed, and comfortable. A non-suite "Marvelous Room" can be as large as 678 square feet, featuring a comfortable pillowtop king-sized bed, a living area, and floor-to-ceiling soundproof windows offering great city views. The design incorporates a sleek black and white color palette accented by colorful patterned fabrics and sculptural light fixtures. Bathrooms are often large with double marble sinks, soaking tubs, separate rain showers, and bidets, stocked with Bliss® amenities. Some suites, however, feature an open-concept design where elements like double sinks might be adjacent to the sofa, which some guests find sacrifices functionality and privacy.
Dining Experience
The W Amman offers several distinct dining options:
- Mesh: The all-day dining restaurant serves an exceptional buffet breakfast with a wide array of international and local Jordanian dishes, including made-to-order eggs and a notable bakery section. The service at breakfast is generally attentive.
- Enso: An Asian-inspired restaurant open for dinner, offering Japanese, Malaysian, Thai, and Indonesian dishes, along with an impressive cocktail menu.
- Aura: A three-floor destination bar known for its signature cocktails and vibrant music.
- Living Room Bar: Located in the lobby area, it's a social hub where guests can relax and enjoy drinks.
Service & Staff
The service at W Amman is largely a highlight, with staff frequently described as welcoming, friendly, and professional. The "Whatever/Whenever" concierge service is available to assist guests with recommendations and day trips. However, some isolated reviews have mentioned experiences of impersonal service, slow delivery for happy hour orders, or specific instances of staff being perceived as rude or unprofessional during check-in or cancellations. There was also a comment about valet service needing improved training on guest interaction regardless of the vehicle type.
Location & Accessibility
The W Amman is strategically located in Al-Abdali, recognized as Amman's modern downtown. This area is characterized by new developments, including a large shopping mall (Abdali Mall) and "The Boulevard," a pedestrian area filled with restaurants, cafes, and shops. The hotel is approximately 20-30 minutes from Queen Alia International Airport (AMM). Taxis are readily available, and rideshare services like Careem and Uber are permitted and generally inexpensive for getting around Amman.
Value & Pricing
While W Amman's rates are typically higher than the city's average, guests generally consider it a worthy investment due to the unparalleled amenities and unique experience offered. Average room rates can range from approximately 136-190 JOD (around $190-$268 USD) per night. Marriott Bonvoy members can also redeem points, with rates seen from 19,000 to 38,000 points per night.
Common Complaints
Despite the overwhelmingly positive feedback, some recurring criticisms include:
- Cleanliness Issues: Some guests have noted occasional lapses in housekeeping, such as uncleaned sinks/vanities and windows.
- Service Inconsistencies: While generally excellent, some reviews mention slow service, particularly at busy times, or isolated incidents of less-than-stellar interactions with individual staff members.
- Room Layout: The open-concept design in some suites, where bathroom elements like sinks are integrated into the main living space, has been a point of contention for guests seeking more privacy.
- Gym Size: The "FIT" gym, while well-equipped, is considered small and can feel crowded with more than a few users.
- Lobby Atmosphere: On occasion, the "Living Room" (lobby) has been noted for a strong smell of cigarette smoke.
- Valet Service: One guest reported inconsistency in valet service based on the type of car.

One of the best views I've ever seen in my life the hotel lies in Abdali beside boulevard and Abdali which is a very commercial and high end place in Amman. Room style and design was colorful and the staff members are nice. However the red lighting and the entrance gave me vertigo at night 😅. Also breakfast buffet at Mesh is very nice and had a lot of varieties
