2. Key Highlights
Guests consistently love Una Vida Tulum for several key reasons:
- Design & Ambiance: The hotel's "rustic-chic" and "bohemian-style" design, integrated beautifully with the lush jungle setting, creates a peaceful and luxurious atmosphere. The property features stunning pools and meticulously lit pebbled walkways at night.
- Seclusion & Tranquility: Despite Tulum's growing popularity, Una Vida offers a sense of privacy and seclusion, being set on a verdant piece of land to the west of the city center.
- Amenities: Highlights include two beautiful pools, complimentary morning yoga and meditation classes (often at its sister property, Bardo), a spa with massage services, and free bicycles for exploring. Guests also have access to the amenities of its sister hotels, Bardo and Milam, including adults-only pools and culinary experiences.
- Service Excellence: The attentive and friendly staff are frequently mentioned as a top highlight, contributing significantly to a magical guest experience.
3. Room Quality
Una Vida Tulum offers a range of villa-style rooms and suites, each designed to maximize interaction with the natural environment and provide comfort.
- Variety: Accommodations include Tropical King rooms with terraces, Tropical King rooms with private gardens and plunge pools, Jungle Studios, One-Bedroom Suites, and a Three-Bedroom Luxury House (Villa Jacinta).
- Comfort & Design: Rooms are described as stylish, beautifully appointed, and comfortable, featuring a "pared-down boho aesthetic". Many come with air conditioning, ceiling fans, private ensuite bathrooms, and large terraces or private gardens.
- Unique Features: Several rooms boast outdoor bathtubs and indoor/outdoor showers, adding to the unique jungle experience. Kitchenettes are available in Jungle Studios, suites, and the private house, offering self-catering options.
- Space: Rooms are spacious, with One-Bedroom Suites measuring around 65m² and the Three-Bedroom Luxury House at 300m².
4. Dining Experience
The hotel features Ananda, an open-air restaurant that serves breakfast and lunch in an al fresco jungle setting.
- Breakfast: Breakfast is available à la carte, with options like fruit plates, "Green bowls," and avocado toast.
- Restaurant Quality: While some reviews suggest that food and drink might not be the hotel's primary focus, the available offerings are generally appreciated. The restaurant serves dinner, brunch, and vegetarian cuisine, and there's also a poolside snack bar and a palapa bar.
- Self-Catering: The availability of kitchenettes in many accommodations provides guests with the option to prepare their own meals.
- Sister Property Dining: Guests can also explore the culinary experiences at Hotel Bardo and Milam, which are part of the same group and offer local flavors with innovative techniques.
5. Service & Staff

- Hospitality: Guests frequently highlight the staff's genuine conversation, smiles, and willingness to assist with any questions. The reception team provides WhatsApp contacts for easy communication and quick responses.
- Concierge Services: The concierge can arrange excursions to Mayan ruins and cenotes, as well as provide recommendations for local attractions and dining.
- Attention to Detail: The staff are noted for their attention to every detail, ensuring a pleasant and memorable stay.
6. Location & Accessibility
Una Vida Tulum is strategically located to offer both seclusion and convenient access to Tulum's attractions.
- Neighborhood: It is situated on a lush piece of land to the west of the city center, where the rainforest meets the town. This location provides a peaceful jungle oasis experience while still being blocks away from a variety of restaurants.
- Proximity to Town: The hotel is a few minutes' stroll to "El Pueblo" (Tulum town center), which offers authentic and affordable restaurants, shops, and bars. It's described as walking distance to many restaurants and shopping.
- Beach Access: The world-famous Tulum beaches are a short drive away. The hotel provides bikes, which can get you to the center of the action in about 5 minutes, although the ride to the beach strip can take 30-40 minutes. Taxis are also readily available for beach access.
- Transport: The new Tulum International Airport is a transportation option. Guests can arrange airport transfers, rent a car, or take taxis. Collectivo buses are also available for inter-city travel, though private shuttles or bikes are often recommended for getting around Tulum itself.
7. Value & Pricing
Many guests feel that Una Vida Tulum offers incredible value for the luxurious experience it provides, especially compared to other high-end properties in the area.
- Perceived Value: The quality of living and service received is often cited as being much higher than the price paid.
- Price Range: While prices can vary, a 1-night stay for two adults can start from approximately $161.0, excluding taxes and fees. One guest reported paying around £293 (approx. $370 USD at current exchange rates) per night for a Tropical Room with Plunge Pool & Private Garden in March 2022.
- Inclusions: Amenities like free WiFi, air conditioning, and access to sister property facilities (including yoga) contribute to the overall value.
8. Common Complaints
While reviews are overwhelmingly positive, some minor points of feedback have been noted:
- Limited Vegan Options: One reviewer mentioned that while Tulum generally has many vegan-friendly options, Una Vida's on-site breakfast and lunch menus were not particularly geared towards vegans.
- No Room Service: There is no dedicated room service, though rooms with kitchenettes allow for self-catering, and the restaurant is easily accessible. Spa and restaurant menus can be sent via WhatsApp for digital ordering, including poolside delivery.
- Distance to Beach: While bikes are provided, the beach is a short drive away rather than directly accessible on foot. Tulum's beach road can be challenging for biking due to traffic and lack of dedicated bike lanes in some areas.
- Tulum's General Pricing: Some broader criticisms of Tulum itself relate to increased prices for services and transportation in the area, particularly with taxis. However, Una Vida's pricing is generally considered good within this context.

Had a great one night stay here. Location is very nice, walking distance from the centre but quiet. The setting is awesome, in jungle style surroundings with a great pool. Rooms are stylish with the outdoor plunge pool and the outdoor shower and bathtub. The whole hotel puts out a very zen and chill vibe, but with a luxury feel. Staff was very kind and helpful too. Hope to be back soon.

Wow from the beginning to the end… I loved it here. The hotel is just wow. I had a room with balcony and a mini pool , I mean the mini pool wasn’t the cleanest but I didn’t mind. -The whole surrounding feels like you are walking in your own sacred place. Like you are in your village but the inside of your rooms are modern. -The hotel is away from center but you can walk or take a short taxi for ...

For those seeking serenity, excellent food and service, escaping from New York snow storm, and recovering from the superflu, Una Vida ticks all the boxes! My Maltese terrier and I stayed in a one bedroom suite from 12/23-12/28 and we didn’t have to leave the premises much with our rental car. The valet staff made sure that we did not have to lift a finger once we arrived at the hotel; they even wi...

Nice boutique hotel right next to their sister hotel Bardo where you can enjoy free yoga, sound baths and use of their gorgeous jungle pool and bar/ restaurant. You can also use the facilities at their other hotel Milam. We did a temezcal there and it was magical. We definitely recommend renting a scooter to get down to the beach. The hotel is also close to Palma Central food market (salsa dancing...
