Guests consistently love the exceptional staff performance, the pristine cleanliness of the property, and the extensive, well-maintained facilities. Key highlights include:
- Service & Staff: Repeatedly cited as attentive, friendly, and going above and beyond to ensure a memorable stay.
- Design & Ambiance: The hotel is noted for its beautiful architecture, often described as a "palace by the sea" or a "small castle," with elegant furnishings and a tranquil, luxurious atmosphere, including the subtle scent of orange blossom in common areas.
- Amenities: Features include two swimming pools (including a stunning outdoor pool and a seawater indoor pool under a dome), a private beach, an 18-hole golf course designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr., and a vast 4,000 sqm Thalassotherapy Spa. A free children's club is also available.
- Cleanliness: The hotel and rooms are frequently praised for being sparkling clean and impeccably maintained.
3. Room Quality
The 170 rooms and suites at The Residence Tunis are described as spacious, elegantly appointed, and designed for comfort. Guests rate room comfort and quality highly, with scores around 9.4 out of 10. They feature king beds, marble baths, walk-in closets, and private terraces, some offering sea or lush garden views. Modern amenities include air conditioning, flat-screen TVs with satellite channels, DVD players, complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi, and minibars. Some rooms even include a cozy fireplace, adding a unique charm.
4. Dining Experience
The Residence Tunis offers a diverse culinary journey with multiple dining facilities, including four on-site restaurants, and, depending on the season, up to six restaurants, including one on its private beach. Options range from Mediterranean cuisine at L'Olivier to authentic Tunisian dishes at El Dar and Chinese specialties at Li Bai.
Breakfast is consistently highlighted as a strength, described as an "amazing" and "delectable spread" that goes "beyond good," offering a wide selection of continental dishes alongside local pastries, soups, and delicacies like mtagbas and shakshouka. Packages for various interests, including family fun, spa, and golf, are often available.

- Spa & Facilities Maintenance: The spa area, including the indoor pool, has been occasionally reported as being out of order, needing renovation, or having a "noticeable smell of mold". There have also been instances of difficulty contacting the spa or booking treatments.
- Dining Consistency: While breakfast is highly praised, some guests have found the selection for other meals, or specific restaurant offerings (e.g., the Tunisian restaurant), to be inconsistent or lacking variety, with one mention of "powdered orange juice" at breakfast instead of natural juice.
- Noise Issues: Some complaints include noise from children in adult pool areas and issues with sound insulation between rooms, leading to disturbances.
- Communication: A few guests reported disappointing communication with management, citing unresponsiveness to emails or booking messages regarding special requests.
- Wi-Fi Spotty: Some guests have mentioned that the Wi-Fi can be unreliable or "spotty" at times.
- Language Barrier: Not all employees, particularly at the lobby desk, consistently speak English, which can be an inconvenience for some international visitors.

We stayed at The Residence Tunis from October 20–25 and had a wonderful experience overall. The property is located in Gammarth, slightly away from busy tourist areas, but the peaceful setting and beautiful private beach make it absolutely worth it. The hotel is immaculately clean and housekeeping is exceptional—rooms are fully serviced in the morning and refreshed again in the evening, with a fra...

A fabulous 5 star hotel. We stayed there at both the beginning and end of our week long trip to Tunisia. Run by lots of great and very service minded staff, from the very good female directrice down to the most humble member of staff. A true highlight is the 50m2 very large Hammam, the beautiful (both indoor and outdoor) swimming pools, with both only a shortest walk to the private hotel beach. Th...

I recently stayed at The Residence Tunis, and overall, it was a great experience. The hotel itself is large, elegant, and beautifully maintained. There’s a big swimming pool both indoors and outdoors, and the indoor one even has heated water, which makes it perfect for relaxing no matter the season. Plus there is also a gym! The hotel has three restaurants: an international, a Chinese, and a trad...

This is a 5 start hotel however currently on Google it’s rated above the Four Seasons Tunis which isn’t what we experienced. We did a few nights at each and as lovely as The Residence is - it’s not close to the Four Seasons. Amazing breakfast, fresh juices, cooking from scratch, galette a real highlight! Biggest pool I’ve seen. Think it’s about 90m between the furthest points. Went mid September ...
