Travelers appreciate the balance of style and service, creating a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere.

2. Key Highlights

Guests consistently highlight several standout features:

  • Stunning Views: As Tallinn's tallest building, the hotel offers breathtaking panoramic views of the medieval Old Town, the city skyline, and the Baltic Sea, extending even to Helsinki on clear days.
  • Michelin-listed Dining: The Horisont Restaurant & Bar on the 30th floor is a Michelin Guide selection, offering exquisite cuisine and memorable dining experiences.
  • Pürovel Spa & Sport: The extensive spa facilities, including an indoor swimming pool, saunas, steam room, and a well-equipped gym, provide a tranquil oasis for relaxation and rejuvenation.
  • Exceptional Breakfast: The buffet breakfast is frequently mentioned as a highlight, offering a wide and high-quality selection of hot and cold dishes.
  • Spacious and Modern Rooms: Guests appreciate the generous size and contemporary design of the rooms.

3. Room Quality

The hotel features 238 meticulously designed rooms and suites, characterized by their spaciousness and modern aesthetic. Rooms boast floor-to-ceiling windows that provide abundant natural light and captivating views of the city or harbor. The décor is described as refined yet not stuffy, with dark wooden floors and desks complemented by softer, contemporary furnishings. Comfort is prioritized with king-size beds, a pillow menu, ergonomic workspaces, and luxurious Pürovel bathroom products. Bathrooms are often large, featuring darkly mosaicked designs and spacious glass-doored showers with rainfall showerheads. Some rooms, like the Grand Room, offer 36 square meters of space, while others, such as Swiss Executive and Advantage rooms, provide 28 square meters. In-room amenities typically include flat-screen TVs, tea/coffee makers, and free WiFi.

4. Dining Experience

Swissotel Tallinn offers a diverse and highly-rated dining experience:

  • Horisont Restaurant & Bar: Located on the 30th floor, this Michelin Guide-listed restaurant is renowned for its French cuisine with Asian influences, led by Head Chef Marko Sõmer. Diners consistently praise the exquisite food, wine, and service, all enjoyed alongside breathtaking panoramic views.
  • The Quarter Restaurant: Situated on the 8th floor, The Quarter offers a more casual yet excellent dining option, particularly noted for its lavish buffet breakfast and brunch. The breakfast is often described as "genuinely worth fasting for," featuring an impressive array of hot and cold plates, with the quality of items like scrambled eggs receiving special mention.
  • No3 Lobby Bar & Deli: On the ground floor, this lounge and bar serves drinks and light snacks throughout the day, including artisan pastries and sandwiches.

Many reviews commend the staff as friendly, helpful, attentive, and professional, going above and beyond to ensure an enjoyable stay. However, some recent feedback indicates a perceived drop in service levels at reception and breakfast areas, with occasional reports of staff appearing overwhelmed or less helpful.

6. Location & Accessibility

The Swissotel Tallinn boasts a prime location in the heart of Tallinn's prestigious City-Centre, making it the tallest building in the city. It's superbly situated at the crossroads of business, cultural, entertainment, and shopping districts. The medieval Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is just a short 10-minute walk away. Major shopping areas and attractions like the Estonian National Opera and Solaris Center are also within easy reach. Accessibility is excellent, with Tallinn International Airport just a 10-15 minute drive away (3-5 km). Public transportation, including tram and bus stops, is conveniently located near the hotel, providing easy access to various parts of the city.

7. Value & Pricing

Swissotel Tallinn is often regarded as offering "affordable luxury" and "exceptional stay at an unbeatable price" for a 5-star property. While the average room rate can be around $138, compared to Tallinn's average of $110, guests generally find the value to be excellent considering the top-notch amenities and services provided. Prices without breakfast can start from approximately €99 per night. However, some guests note that the spa access (around €15 per day) and breakfast, if not included in the room rate, can be perceived as expensive.

8. Common Complaints

While overall satisfaction is high, some recurring issues and criticisms include:

  • Room Condition: A few guests have mentioned that rooms appear "a bit worn out".
  • Hard Beds/Pillows: Some travelers found the beds to be quite hard and pillows too thin, though requesting a topper usually resolves this.
  • Spa Access & Cost: The spa is sometimes criticized for being expensive (e.g., €15 per day) and not always open at convenient times or even unexpectedly closed without prior notice. Some feel the spa facilities, while good, are not extensive enough for the price.
  • Bathroom Privacy: One specific complaint highlighted "translucent walls that allow shadow viewing into the bathroom".
  • Temperature Control: Issues with adjusting room temperature have been reported, with some finding rooms too cold.
  • Housekeeping: Isolated incidents of housekeeping shortcomings, such as unmade beds or unreplenished amenities, have been noted.
  • Breakfast Area Staffing: On occasion, the breakfast staff has been described as overwhelmed or understaffed, leading to slower service.
  • Incidental Deposit: A deposit, typically EUR 75, is requested during check-in for incidentals.
  • Noisy AC: One recent review mentioned a "noisy AC".

The hotel was very clean, neat and overall amazing. The breakfast in particular was one of the best I have ever had. The service person who welcomed us every day to breakfast and showed us to the table was very kind and friendly. He made us feel appreciated. The service in the breakfast was also very fast and professional. However, the service in the front desk felt a bit cold at times and the hot...

We really enjoyed our stay here. Clean room and very spacious. Very nice people and great service. The spa was okay, however, we got it as a complimentary for our first visit here so it was much appreciated of course. A shout-out to Konstantin at the reception for that! Overall, we had a really good time here!

1. At check in my card was charged 100 Euros in case I use the mini bar rather than charging at the time of check out. This is expected of a 2 star hotel not your standard. 2. The checking staff notified me that we had to pay 15 euros per person to be able to use the sauna and the pool. Again a very substandard way of earning extra money when in your brochures you pride yourselves of such facil...
