2. Key Highlights
Guests consistently laud several aspects of the Sofitel Marseille Vieux Port:
- Location & Views: The panoramic views of the Old Port, Notre-Dame de la Garde, and the Mediterranean Sea are a major draw, described as "magical" and "unrivaled." Many rooms and dining areas offer these spectacular vistas.
- Service: The helpful, friendly, accommodating, and impeccable staff receives frequent commendation.
- Amenities: The full-service spa, including a sauna and hammam, is a significant highlight, often praised for its cleanliness and reservation system preventing overcrowding. The hotel also features a rooftop terrace, fitness room, and three terraces overlooking the Old Port.
- Design: The hotel exhibits a clean-lined, contemporary style with a soft edge of luxury, avoiding gaudiness, reflecting the ultra-refined aesthetic associated with the Sofitel brand. The design is inspired by Marseille's history, combining tradition and modernity.

The rooms at Sofitel Marseille Vieux Port are generally described as very comfortable, chic, and spacious, featuring amenities such as air conditioning, flat-screen TVs with satellite channels, iPod docking stations, and minibars. Many rooms boast terraces with harbor views, and some larger rooms even include two toilets, a detail appreciated by guests. Elegant bathrooms sometimes include a TV, and all private bathrooms come with slippers, bathrobes, and a hairdryer.

Standard rooms can range from approximately $274 to $474 USD, with suites costing between $569 and $782 USD. While generally highly rated, some recurring issues or criticisms have been noted:
- Value for Price: For some guests, particularly in specific room configurations or during certain periods, the price did not always align with the perceived value or room condition.
- Room Maintenance (Historical): An older review mentioned issues with the condition of a balcony, describing it as "shocking" with raw concrete walls, a horrible railing, water pipes with molds, and stained floors.
- Inconsistent Water Temperature: One minor complaint noted inconsistent water temperature during showers, fluctuating between extremely hot and normal.
- Restaurant Availability (Past): During specific restrictions (e.g., COVID-19 related), guests found restaurant options lacking or closed.

We absolutely loved staying at the Sofitel Marseille Vieux Port for one night prior to setting sail on a cruise. All the staff at the hotel were extremely warm and welcoming and in particular, a special thank you to Anna who was extremely helpful in making sure that our short stay at the hotel and in Marseille was a delight. We were thrilled to find out that we had received an upgrade to a room w...

Upon check-in our reservation could not be located (2nd time this happened. 2 different stays within 2 years and 2 different ways of being treated). Somehow under my mom's name this time, which I put her name on the 2nd room in the event she needed to get re-keyed. We were asked condescendingly if we booked at the Novotel next door! Told me to go on app to figure out name change as she couldn't d...

Me and husband went to Marseille to celebrate Honeymoon! We’re from the US. In contrast we’ve never experienced such attention to detail and accommodating service like we did at this hotel! Everyone was helpful and positive and ensured our stay had meaning to it! The access to the Spa and the Breakfast with their Vieux facing the waterfront was also the highlight for us! Some areas throughout the...

A short stay this time although we have stayed in this hotel many times for longer. It’s always excellent with a great friendly team. Excellently located at the entrance to the port and only a short walk to the bars and restaurants of the old port. We love this hotel

Location is really good and the lobby is nice but this is definitely not a 5 star hotel. The rooms are incredibly outdated and the bathrooms need updating as well. Shower is tiny and temperature of the water difficult to regulate. Rooms are 2-3 star hotel quality, being generous. Additionally there are a couple night clubs adjacent to the property that play loud music until the early morning every...

The location is good. The rooms are not at the standard of sofitel, the noise dampening is terrible with loud venues nearby. This should be fine if they invested in the rooms acoustics. The balconies have no privacy from either side. The service is average, some debate existed around the bill which was hard to get past the language barrier, although eventually resolved. Accor needs to do better.
