Remota Patagonia Lodge: A Comprehensive Review of a Michelin Key Selected Property

Remota Patagonia Lodge in Puerto Natales, Chile, consistently receives high praise, standing out for its unique architectural design, stunning natural surroundings, and exceptional service. As a Michelin Key Selected property, it offers a distinct and memorable Patagonian experience.

1. Overall Rating & Sentiment

The general consensus for Remota Patagonia Lodge is overwhelmingly positive, with guests frequently rating it as "very good" to "excellent." Across various platforms, the lodge garners impressive scores, often ranging from 8.4 to 9.2 out of 10. Guests commonly describe the property as "amazing" and "stunning," highlighting a strong positive sentiment towards its overall offering.

2. Key Highlights

Guests are particularly captivated by the lodge's unique design and architecture, which draws inspiration from traditional Patagonian sheep shearing sheds and the local environment. The modern aesthetic is enhanced by thoughtful touches, including bright yellow accents that complement the predominantly black and white palette. The stunning views of the Última Esperanza Fjord and the surrounding mountains are a consistent highlight, immersing guests in the breathtaking Patagonian landscape.

The spa and wellness facilities are a significant draw, offering a heated infinity-edge pool, saunas, and outdoor jacuzzis – perfect for relaxation after a day of exploration. Furthermore, the exceptional service and staff hospitality are frequently lauded, contributing significantly to the positive guest experience.

3. Room Quality

The rooms at Remota Patagonia Lodge are described as both simple and stylish, emphasizing comfort and spaciousness. Each 33m² room features shellacked stone floors, white walls, and yellow curtains, complemented by elements of rough-cut wood. Guests appreciate the "eclectic decor" and the "raw edge wood and the shelves" that define the space. All rooms offer captivating views of the mountains and the Última Esperanza fjord and are equipped with central heating, hairdryers, and safety deposit boxes. While the large windows invite natural light, some guests note that the lighting can be dim when the sun is not shining.

4. Dining Experience

The dining experience at Remota Patagonia Lodge is highly regarded. The restaurant is consistently praised for being "lovely," "very good," and offering a "great dining experience" with a variety of delicious meals. The breakfast, in particular, receives rave reviews, often described as "incredible" with a "great selection of cold and hot dishes and very large variety," especially considering the lodge's remote location.

5. Service & Staff

The service at Remota Patagonia Lodge is a standout feature, with staff frequently commended for their warmth, friendliness, and helpfulness. Guests report that the team often goes "above and beyond" to ensure a comfortable stay. Examples include proactive communication regarding delayed flights, arranging airport pickups, and generally creating a welcoming atmosphere for guests.

6. Location & Accessibility

Situated just outside the main town, Remota Patagonia Lodge is approximately a 10-minute taxi ride from the center of Puerto Natales, costing around USD 3. Its prime location on a low rise provides picturesque views overlooking the Última Esperanza Fjord. While not directly within Torres del Paine National Park, the lodge acts as an excellent base, offering a comprehensive program of guided excursions both inside and outside the park. These activities include bike tours, hikes, horseback riding, and boat tours, making it an "unbeatable location" for exploring the region.

7. Value & Pricing

The lodge's value for money is generally rated favorably, averaging around 7.8 out of 10. Room rates typically range from $184 to $680, with an average price of approximately $187 per night. Given the luxurious experience and array of amenities, many guests consider it "well worth the price," especially when compared to the average hotel price of $113 in Puerto Natales. Most rates include breakfast, taxes, and parking, with half-board options also available.

8. Common Complaints

While overwhelmingly positive, some minor criticisms have been noted. The free WiFi connectivity has received a lower guest review score, ranging from 6.2 to 6.3. Additionally, some guests have observed that the external architecture, despite its bold statement, can appear somewhat "quiet" or "bunker-like," though the interiors are designed to be less severe. As mentioned earlier, interior lighting can also be a minor issue if there isn't ample natural sunlight.

Generally speaking, the location and the surroundings of the hotel are great. However, we booked the room on their website, and the USD amount was shown as “tax included.” At the moment of payment, we were told that an additional 19% tax would be added because we were paying in CLP. In the end, we found a very small note at the bottom of the confirmation email explaining that if payment is made in...

This hotel is pretty close to the town of Puerta Natales. Barely a mile to the outskirts. It was a nice hotel with upscale accommodations for this area. Ate dinner and breakfast here. The food was very good. Breakfast spread was all you can eat buffet and was a very good spread with lots of options. Hot showers. Water stations are plentiful. Pool house has a nice view. Enjoyed the hot tub. Suppos...

We can't imagine staying anywhere else! My partner and I could not have been happier with this wonderful lodge. This is a very special place. The staff was SO attentive, welcoming, and thoughtful. The hotel itself is just the perfect blend of modern, rustic, and cozy, set on a hillside overlooking a picturesque fjord, just a 20-minute walk from Puerto Natales. Beautiful and unique architecture of ...

Very nicely presented. Lots of wood and idiosyncratic design and floor levels. Sunday dinner is a buffet at $50,000 so you might wish to check out the town. We later realised that the buffet was a special for a crowd of National Geographic cruisers who were starting at this hotel. That meant that, in terms of food, all other customers were fair game- charge them 50.000 to eat in the hotel at a bu...

Beautifully designed hotel with some flaws. Stayed here before and after an Antarctica expedition. Staff is nice. The design is pretty cool. I’ve heard the spa is great but didn’t get the chance to use it. Breakfast and dinner buffet was seemingly the same every night we were there. No WiFi in rooms. No tv in rooms. Which fine, it’s called remota BUT no AC in rooms. The mirror in the bathroom i...

What an innovative hotel. Architecturally quite distinctive (and hard to describe) and quite nice. Excellent food, and wonderfully comfortable beds. The pool and hot tub have gorgeous views. We definitely recommend this as the best appointed lodging in town. The only downside is that Remota is solid 1/2 hour walk from the”downtown”, so if you want to eat anywhere but the hotel, you’ll have a bit...
