Expert Review: Quinta Real Acapulco

Quinta Real Acapulco stands as a distinguished luxury hotel, recognized by the Michelin Key selection, offering an elegant and serene escape in Acapulco's exclusive Diamante Zone. It consistently garners praise for its breathtaking ocean views, impeccable service, and sophisticated ambiance, making it a highly recommended destination for upscale travelers.

1. Overall Rating & Sentiment

The general consensus for Quinta Real Acapulco is overwhelmingly positive, with guests frequently describing their stays as magnificent, relaxing, and charming. It is celebrated as one of Mexico's most elegant luxury hotels, providing a peaceful getaway with stunning Pacific Ocean views. The hotel maintains a high standard of cleanliness and offers a tranquil environment, appealing to both couples and families seeking a refined beach vacation.

2. Key Highlights

Guests consistently rave about the spectacular hilltop and ocean views from nearly every vantage point of the hotel, including rooms, the gym, spa, and bar. The beautifully maintained grounds, lush gardens, and pristine beach and swimming pool areas are frequently highlighted. Other significant highlights include the helpful and friendly staff, excellent WiFi throughout the hotel, and the sense of privacy offered by its location on Revolcadero Beach. The spa and fitness center also receive positive mentions for their ocean views.

3. Room Quality

Quinta Real Acapulco is an all-suite hotel, offering exquisitely designed rooms that exude contemporary international elegance rather than a traditional colonial style. The 62 bright and airy suites feature marble floors and counters, plush love seats or couches, and ornate sculpted headboards. All rooms boast private balconies with breathtaking ocean views, and some of the more luxurious suites even include private plunge pools on their outdoor terraces. Guests appreciate the comfort of the beds, the availability of a pillow menu, Hermès bath products in the marble bathrooms, flat-screen TVs with cable, minibars, and complimentary bottled water.

4. Dining Experience

The hotel offers a diverse dining experience with two primary restaurants and a poolside bar. Tierra Mia serves international and Mexican cuisine for breakfast, with some reports mentioning it also serves dinner. La Bocana, a beachfront restaurant with a rustic thatched-roof palapa, specializes in fresh seafood, Mexican cuisine, and snacks, particularly for lunch. The poolside bar is popular for drinks, including highly recommended piña coladas. A buffet breakfast is served daily, and 24-hour room service is available. While the restaurants are described as "pricy," the main cliff-top restaurant is noted for its phenomenal ocean views, which some guests find even better than the food itself.

5. Service & Staff

The service and staff at Quinta Real Acapulco consistently receive excellent reviews for their attentiveness, friendliness, and helpfulness. Guests frequently commend individual staff members for going "above and beyond" to ensure satisfaction. The pool deck is well-attended by staff who are quick to offer drinks and dry towels, contributing to a laid-back yet attentive atmosphere.

6. Location & Accessibility

Quinta Real Acapulco is strategically perched on an 80-foot tall cliff in the exclusive Diamante Zone, offering a sense of seclusion and incredible views of the Pacific Ocean. It boasts a prime oceanfront location at the end of Revolcadero Beach, which, while technically public, offers a degree of privacy for hotel guests. While the immediate vicinity offers a few simple ceviche restaurants, exploring beyond requires a car or taxi. The hotel is approximately a 15-minute drive from General Juan N Alvarez airport. It is within a few kilometers of attractions like Punta Diamante and Arena GNP Seguros. Accessing the pool and beach areas from the lobby often involves navigating several stairs or using multiple elevators due to the hotel's cliffside construction.

7. Value & Pricing

As a luxury, Michelin Key selected property, Quinta Real Acapulco is generally considered expensive. Typical nightly rates can range from approximately $220 to $376, though deals starting lower than the average are sometimes available. Guests often feel that the unparalleled views, luxurious accommodations, and exceptional service justify the cost for a high-end experience.

8. Common Complaints

While overwhelmingly positive, some recurring criticisms include the expensive nature of the on-site restaurants, with mixed reviews on the food quality despite the praised views. The hotel's cliffside location, while offering stunning views, necessitates many stairs or multiple elevators to reach the pool and beach, and none of the rooms have direct ocean access. Some guests have also noted limited dining options after noon. Additionally, sunsets can be "underwhelming" as the sun may set over a nearby mountain rather than directly into the ocean.

I have so many positive things to say that I don’t know where to start. First there are 2 security check points to get into the hotel. Very secure place. When we (family and I) got into the reception area we were given ice cream and a cold towel as temperatures were over 98 degrees Celsius super hot (it was August) this was a last minute reservation as the last hotel was awful so this was a very s...

Our honeymoon at the Quinta Real in Acapulco was unforgettable, for multiple reasons. Let me start with the bad: 1. Rooms are quite old and the hotel doesn't seem to be in great condition. Paint is peeling off the walls and furniture is very old in the rooms. 2. Staff coordination is lacking, and it took them almost 30 mins to get us cutlery and plates to our rooms via room service. 3. We found co...

It’s a really nice place to stay. The rooms not new, but very clean and in good condition. The staff at the front desk has to improve their English. The only thing to complain about is, that as a hotel guest, it is not possible to get a sun lounger, because they all blocked, at 8 am I was not able to get one. The thing is, the people place there stuff on the bed and some of them haven’t been back...

Nice hotel for smokers. We thought it was a place for families to stay but smokers are everywhere around the pool and at the restaurant (the one by the pool, which is the only open restaurant for lunch). NOT recommended for pregnant women and kids. The rooms are comfortable and the food is good, sadly the smoking thing was really bad (so many smokers).

My friend and I went to Acapulco in Feb 2019 and we stayed at this magnificent hotel. The service, the view, the rooms and the beach were amazing! I would love to go back with husband. On a negative side, you DO NOT withdraw money from the ATM as it does not give you the right amount. I wanted to get $X and 700$MXN were missing from my withdrawal. Todo magnifico!!! Pero el cajero del hotel no te ...

SMOKERS ONLY, BEWARE... sadly this hotel is only for smokers, no areas for non smokers, even at lunch. We had a 1 year 10 month toddler and a pregnant woman and the hotel could not care less. We spoke many times to management and the only non-smoking area is the lobby and mostly for “image purpose”. The reality is that smoking is allowed everywhere at every time, even with children around. 1. At ...
