Room Quality
The rooms at Pic are designed for comfort and elegance. They are tranquil and cloudlike, decorated in a soothing palette of whites, silvers, and creams, with occasional accent colors. The comforts are subtly high-end, featuring designer objects, some from Bruno Borrione. Marble bathrooms are stocked with luxury bath products, often Hermès or Diptyque. Most rooms face the hotel's beautiful gardens, offering a relaxing atmosphere. Standard room features include air conditioning, flat-screen TVs, minibars, safes, bathrobes, slippers, and Dyson hairdryers.
Dining Experience
Dining at Pic is a central part of the experience. The hotel is home to Anne-Sophie Pic's renowned three-Michelin-star gastronomic restaurant, a pilgrimage site for gourmets. Chef Pic is celebrated for her creative cuisine, which experiments with complex flavor combinations and aromatic compositions. The restaurant offers tasting menus that can range from 7 to 10 courses, with varying wine pairings available. Beyond the main restaurant, guests can also enjoy the more casual, bistro-style restaurant, André. Breakfast is consistently praised as fabulous and excellent.
Service & Staff
The service and staff at Pic receive overwhelming acclaim. Guests frequently describe the service as "flawless" and "5-star," noting the staff's exceptional kindness, attentiveness, and willingness to meet every need "immediately and with a smile". The hospitality is personal and engaging, with particular mention of the general manager's ability to make guests feel like their "sole focus".
Location & Accessibility
Pic is situated in Valence, an "out-of-the-way corner" of the Rhône Valley, positioning it as a destination hotel rather than one chosen for its urban surroundings. Valence itself is considered the "door to the South of France" and is about an hour south of Lyon. While some guests note that Valence isn't a major tourist city on its own, the hotel's location makes it a good base for exploring the Northern Rhône vineyards and the Vercors Mountains. The hotel offers excellent accessibility with free private parking, valet service, and an electric vehicle charging station on-site. It is also conveniently located near Valence-Ville Train Station and local bus stops, providing connections to other French cities like Lyon, Marseille, and Paris.
Value & Pricing
Staying and dining at Pic is considered a premium experience, with room prices for Superior/Deluxe rooms starting from approximately US$340-382. The gastronomic restaurant's 10-course menu is priced around €410-€430, excluding drinks. While certainly an investment, many guests consider the overall experience to be well worth the cost, often stating it's "not off the scale pricey for the quality". The general sentiment is that it's worth planning an entire trip around this destination.
Common Complaints
Direct complaints about the hotel itself are rare. The most noted criticisms tend to be external to the hotel or specific to particular dishes. Some guests have expressed that Valence, as a city, may not offer extensive tourist attractions, suggesting it's primarily a destination for the Maison Pic experience itself. In terms of dining, a specific, older review (2021) mentioned a "terrible bread" course and inconsistent pacing during a dinner, along with one dish being "just ok". However, these are isolated comments, with the overwhelming majority of dining reviews being exceptionally positive.

Maison Pic is elegance reborn through Anne-Sophie Pic’s intuition. Her cuisine feels like perfume — delicate yet powerful. Each flavor arrives like a whisper, yet lingers like destiny. Thank you, Maison Pic, for proving that strength can wear silk and that creativity has a woman’s grace.

The hotel is fantastic, we loved it. Very pleasant pool area and outside Bar. We didn't do the *** Dinner but ate in the Bistro - Bistro André and had the breakfast that is part of the room booking. The service was atrocious even for the most discerning of diners, two plats weren't available, but the food was OK and beverages reasonable. Breakfast was more instagrammable than tasty - if this is m...

Having experienced countless restaurants around the world, dining at the Michelin 3-star Maison Pic was truly the pinnacle. Unforgettable service, extraordinary cuisine, and an astonishingly diverse wine list. And above all, the warm hospitality at the hotel made the experience complete. I look forward to returning soon.
