1. Overall Rating & Sentiment

Palazzo Ducale Venturi garners overwhelmingly positive feedback, achieving "Exceptional" or "Superb" ratings across various platforms, including 9.8 on Booking.com and 9.7 on Flyandbed.com. Guests describe it as a 5-star luxury hotel, an oasis of peace, tranquility, and elegance, offering a truly relaxing and immersive experience in local aristocratic history, art, and culture.

2. Key Highlights

The hotel's most celebrated features include its wonderful staff, exceptional facilities, beautiful design, and outstanding breakfast. The meticulously renovated 16th-century palazzo, supervised by cultural heritage authorities, maintains authentic antique charm with original features like vaulted ceilings, Leccese stone, and preserved frescoes.

Amenities that consistently impress guests are the inviting outdoor saltwater pool, surrounded by sun loungers, and the unique underground heated spa pool, converted from an ancient oil mill. There's also a well-equipped gym and massage center for wellness. Innovative offerings like cryotherapy (one of the first in Puglia) and aromatherapy further enhance the guest experience. The lush Mediterranean gardens, including a "secret garden" with fruit trees and scented plants, provide perfect spots for relaxation or aperitivo. Complimentary bicycles and private video-monitored parking are also valued inclusions.

3. Room Quality

The 20 rooms and suites at Palazzo Ducale Venturi are described as luxurious havens, finely refurbished with unique and original styles, and restored period furnishings. Each room has been meticulously renovated under the supervision of the Superintendence of Cultural Heritage. Accommodations vary in size, ranging from 18 to 45 square meters, and include Classic, Deluxe, Junior Suite, Ducal Suite, and the distinctive Abbess Room.

Some rooms boast stunning vaulted fresco ceilings, while others feature private patios or even a private roof terrace with views over Minervino di Lecce, as seen in the Abbess Room. Modern comforts are seamlessly integrated, with amenities such as air conditioning, complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs, minibars, and luxurious beds with premium bedding. Deluxe Rooms may also be embellished with rare 18th-century fireplaces, and some guests have noted thoughtful touches like complimentary whisky. Bathrooms are often spacious, with double sinks and walk-in showers.

4. Dining Experience

The dining experience at Palazzo Ducale Venturi is a significant highlight, particularly the "exceptional" breakfast. The breakfast buffet is a "sight to behold," offering a wide selection of genuine and fresh local products. Guests can enjoy fruit, yogurt, cereals, various breads, pastries, and a selection of meats and cheeses. Daily specials like chocolate fondant cake, crispy ham and cheese filo parcels, and spinach and ricotta quiche add a delightful variety. Hot food options such as bacon, eggs, omelettes, and pancakes are also available, complemented by delicious espresso. Guests can even enjoy breakfast al fresco in the garden.

The Duca Venturi Restaurant, exclusively reserved for hotel guests, offers elegant and refined cuisine inspired by fresh Salento ingredients from both land and sea, championed by Chef Francesco Paladino. The cuisine is described as simple, genuine, and unpredictable, often tailored to guests' preferences. For those seeking to immerse themselves in Italian gastronomy, the hotel also provides intimate cooking masterclasses using its restored salt ovens to prepare traditional dishes like focaccia, pizza, or Puglian bread. A poolside bar serves salads and club sandwiches during the day.

5. Service & Staff

The service and staff at Palazzo Ducale Venturi consistently receive "superb," "amazing," and "wonderful" accolades from guests. Reviewers frequently highlight the staff's attentiveness, friendliness, and exceptional hospitality. Guests report feeling "treated like royalty" from the moment they arrive.

The concierge service is available 24/7 to cater to any guest request, ensuring maximum relaxation. Daily room tidying is also noted, contributing to a relaxing stay. In instances of issues, such as a damaged personal luxury object, staff have been commended for their prompt correction and indemnification, demonstrating top-notch service. The hotel also offers a 24-hour shuttle service for airport, station transfers, and transportation to local beaches and restaurants at affordable rates.

6. Location & Accessibility

Palazzo Ducale Venturi is situated in Minervino di Lecce, a quiet town in the Salento region of Puglia. It's recognized as an excellent base for exploring the surrounding area, offering easy access to both cultural and natural attractions. Key nearby destinations include Otranto (6-12 km), Porto Badisco (7 km), and Santa Cesarea Terme (10 km). The city of Lecce is approximately 45 km away. Brindisi Airport is about an hour's drive from the property (51-90 km).

While many appreciate the hotel's tranquil village setting, some guests have noted that the location might be considered "a strange place" if their expectation was to be directly in Lecce, which is about a 30-minute drive away. The hotel provides complimentary bicycles for local exploration and has video-monitored private parking for guests with cars.

7. Value & Pricing

Guests generally find Palazzo Ducale Venturi to offer excellent value for the luxurious experience it provides, reflected in its 9.5 rating for value for money on Booking.com. While specific prices fluctuate, rates have been observed starting from approximately €245 in the low season, with Kayak showing rates from $372. The comprehensive range of high-quality services, amenities, and the unique historical setting contribute to guests feeling it is well worth the cost.

8. Common Complaints

While overwhelmingly positive, a few minor recurring issues have been mentioned by guests. One point of criticism concerns the indoor pool, which some describe as a very small, unheated hot tub rather than a proper swimming pool. Another guest noted that the shower water was not "piping hot" enough during a stay in March, though this was deemed a minor inconvenience. A more consistent complaint from some guests in a luxury hotel of this caliber is being charged for bottled water after the initial complimentary bottle. Additionally, due to the old stone castle structure, the hotel can echo, leading to some noise issues from other loud guests during certain stays.

I cannot say enough about this gem of a hotel. Great location, our room was epic with a roof top terrace. The fee for the transfer to the beach was a bit steep, we mentioned that and they took off a bit of the fee. Breakfast was amazing as were the lunches. The staff very friendly, the pools were amazing.

If you are looking for a clean, guest service oriented hotel, with a friendly and eager to help staff, this is your place. Is a great location to stay as a home base to explore the southern heel of Italy. What we loved is he location, away from the summer tourist crowds, but at the same time close to everything south.

Our stay here turned out to be the best mistake ever. Booking in a hurry, we didn’t notice that it was not in Lecce, but a small town 30km away in the province of Lecce. However the team did everything possible to ensure we had a brilliant stay. The property is gorgeous - spacious rooms, chic decor, beautiful pool, small gym, fantastic massage service, lovely breakfasts and dinners - but the hi...

Palazzo Ducale Venturi is a true 5-star luxury hotel. The renovated 16th century castle is incredible and rich in history. With having a small number of rooms, the peace and tranquility of the hotel is second to none. We took part in a "pizza night" our first nights stay. The appetiser buffet was delicious & the pizza cooked in the original woodfire ovens of the castle was the best pizza of our w...

Our room very beautiful, Palazzo and pool area very nice and one of the best breakfast's we ever had in Italy.
