1. Overall Rating & Sentiment
The general consensus for Palazzo Avino is overwhelmingly positive, with guests frequently describing it as a "royal dream" and one of the finest hotels on the Amalfi Coast. Reviewers consistently highlight its "exceptional" quality, from the stunning architecture to the unparalleled views and impeccable service. Many consider it a tranquil haven, perfect for romantic getaways or a truly luxurious escape.
2. Key Highlights
Guests consistently rave about several standout features:
- Spectacular Views: Perched high on Ravello's hillside, the hotel offers "bucket-list views" of the dramatic Amalfi Coast and the sparkling Mediterranean below, visible from many rooms, dining areas, and pools.
- Michelin-Starred Dining: Rossellini's, the hotel's fine-dining restaurant, is a major draw, celebrated for its creative cuisine and romantic ambiance.
- Private Beach Club: The "Clubhouse by the Sea," located a 15-minute shuttle ride away, provides exclusive access to the water's edge with a pool, restaurant, and lounge areas, offering a unique seaside experience.
- Elegant Design & Ambiance: The hotel beautifully blends its historic Italianate grandeur with modern luxury, featuring vaulted ceilings, polished furnishings, decorative tiled floors, and eclectic artworks. The "pink palace" aesthetic contributes to its regal charm.
- Amenities: An array of facilities including an infinity pool, rooftop hot tubs, a luxurious spa, and an outdoor fitness center enhance the stay.
3. Room Quality
Palazzo Avino offers 43 rooms and 10 suites, each designed to feel "modernly majestic and private." The decor is a "heady blend of antique styles and focused contemporary colors," creating a bright, airy, and elegant Mediterranean atmosphere. Rooms typically feature crisp white linens, traditional wooden furniture, and chic accents, with some showcasing local artistry. Standard amenities include flat-screen TVs, minibars, and iPod docks. Many rooms and suites boast sea views, balconies, or expansive terraces, some even featuring private hydro-pools or in-room hot tubs. While most rooms lack coffee/tea making facilities, some suites offer Nespresso machines. Bathrooms are described as lovely, often with white porcelain or marble sinks, robes, bidets, and glass showers.
4. Dining Experience
Dining at Palazzo Avino is a highlight, with several distinctive options:
- Rossellini's: The hotel's Michelin-starred restaurant, led by Chef Gianni Vanacore, offers a sophisticated dinner experience with creative Mediterranean cuisine focusing on local ingredients. Guests can enjoy an "odyssey" of flavors on a beautiful terrace overlooking the coast. Special Chef's Table and Sommelier's Table experiences are also available. Rossellini's is closed from November to March.
- Breakfast: A delicious buffet breakfast with made-to-order eggs is served each morning on a patio offering panoramic sea views.
- Terrazza Belvedere / Lobster & Martini Bar: This casual spot serves appetizing small bites and fresh pasta dishes during the day, transforming into the Lobster & Martini Bar in the evening, offering an extensive martini list (over 100 options) and fresh local lobster with captivating sunset views.
- Caffé dell'Arte: A spacious lounge bar with a pianist, perfect for aperitifs and light fare while enjoying mountain and sea vistas.
- Clubhouse by the Sea Restaurant: Provides a casual dining experience by the water, featuring fresh catch of the day and pizza.
5. Service & Staff
The service and attentiveness at Palazzo Avino are frequently lauded as "regal," "impeccable," and "first-class." The staff, including the owner and managing director Mariella Avino, are noted for their dedication and commitment to hospitality. While some guests have noted a slightly less warm initial impression at check-in compared to other top luxury hotels, the overall experience of care and attention to detail is highly praised. Housekeeping is described as exceptionally flawless, with services multiple times a day.
6. Location & Accessibility
Palazzo Avino is ideally situated "high on Ravello's hillside," providing "spectacular views" of the entire Amalfi Coast. The hotel is just a short two-minute walk from Ravello's main town square, making local attractions like Villa Rufolo and Duomo di Ravello easily accessible. Ravello itself is known for its serene beauty, offering a quieter alternative to the busier towns of Amalfi and Positano. For beach access, the hotel offers a complimentary shuttle service to its private Clubhouse by the Sea, located about 15 minutes away in Marmorata. Naples International Airport is the closest major airport, approximately an hour's drive away.
7. Value & Pricing
Palazzo Avino is undeniably a high-end luxury property, described as "pricey" and "expensive." However, many guests consider the experience "worth every penny," citing the unparalleled views, exceptional service, and luxurious amenities. Room rates vary significantly based on room type, view, and season. Typical prices can start from around $522 to $671 per night. Suites can range from several hundred to several thousand dollars per night, with top-tier options like the Infinito Sea View Suite starting from $3,118-$3,640 USD and the Belvedere Suite from $6,100 USD.
8. Common Complaints
While overwhelmingly positive, some minor criticisms have been noted:
- Cost of Beach Club Amenities: Some guests have expressed disappointment that watersports equipment like paddleboards and kayaks at the Clubhouse by the Sea incur an additional fee, considering the high overall room rates.
- Initial Service Impression: A few guests reported a slightly less warm or personalized initial welcome at check-in compared to other top-tier luxury hotels they had experienced.
- Lack of In-Room Coffee/Tea: Not all standard rooms are equipped with coffee or tea-making facilities, though suites often include Nespresso machines.
- Room Size: While luxurious, some sources indicate that not all rooms are particularly spacious.

Palazzo Avino is magical. I had the most amazing stay here. It is the most charming hotel I have ever visited. Every corner feels like a scene from a movie. It offers the most stunning views while still being just steps from the heart of Ravello. What truly sets this hotel apart, though, is the staff. The concierge was so great to us. Every member of the team went above and beyond with warmth and...

This property is a 5 star property. Decor and rooms were great. Walk into Ravello from the hotel. The staff helped with reservations in town for food and scooter rental. The on property Michelin star restaurant was awesome. The dining experience was top notch including many little extras. They had guitar or piano nightly.

Antonio & his staff run an exceptional hotel. They accommodated a room change, scheduled a walking tour that with Angelina that was top notch, and enjoyed the restaurants for breakfast. We also misplaced a painting that Antonio found & shipped back to USA. Highly recommend Avino as destination at Ravello.

We stayed here for 2 nights as the last stop of our honeymoon. The rooms are extremely small for the price. Front desk staff Jacopo is very professional and smiles a lot. However the older gentleman there also front dest staff is very rude. He hung up on me when I called front desk for help. I had an issue with heating in the room which was later resolved. But he apparently only talks to men. He a...
