Expert Review: Nobnocket Boutique Inn
The Nobnocket Boutique Inn on Martha's Vineyard is a distinguished Michelin One-Key property, celebrated for its blend of contemporary design, serene ambiance, and exceptional hospitality. Housed in a renovated 1908 Arts & Crafts-style manor, the inn consistently receives glowing reviews for its luxurious accommodations and personalized service.
1. Overall Rating & Sentiment
The general consensus for Nobnocket Boutique Inn is overwhelmingly positive, with guests frequently describing it as a "very special stay" and a "true gem." It holds a "One Key" designation from the Michelin Guide, a recognition akin to a Michelin star for restaurants, awarded to properties based on a memorable and singular experience that reflects local character. Guests praise it as a sophisticated, stylish, and intimate retreat, often rating it with five stars.
2. Key Highlights
Guests consistently highlight the inn's stunning modern design, the tranquil setting amidst two acres of gardens, and the warm, attentive service provided by owners Simon and Annabelle. Complimentary amenities such as bikes, beach towels, and 24/7 hot and cold drinks are also frequently lauded. Its convenient location, offering easy access to Vineyard Haven while providing a secluded feel, is another significant draw.
3. Room Quality
The seven generously sized guest rooms are elegantly styled with a minimalist aesthetic, featuring parquet floors, natural light, and a color palette of crisp white, slate gray, and bold pops of color. Each room boasts custom-designed en-suite bathrooms with glass, marble, and tile, complete with walk-in showers. Luxury Grand rooms and suites offer additional amenities such as freestanding soaking tubs, gas fireplaces, and Nespresso machines. Guests consistently praise the comfort of the beds and the luxurious Frette linens and towels. Rooms also include flat-screen TVs, personal sound systems, and free Wi-Fi.
4. Dining Experience
A standout feature of the Nobnocket Boutique Inn is its award-winning gourmet breakfast, which utilizes local produce and can accommodate dietary needs with prior notice. Served daily between 8:30 AM and 9:30 AM, guests can enjoy their meal in the light-filled sunroom, on the covered veranda, on a garden patio, or even in their room. While the inn does not offer other meals, the owners provide excellent recommendations for local restaurants within walking distance, including Garde East and Salvatore's.
5. Service & Staff
The hospitality provided by owners Simon and Annabelle is frequently cited as a highlight of the stay. Guests describe them as "wonderful hosts" who go "over and above" to ensure a memorable visit, offering personalized service, thoughtful touches, and invaluable local knowledge for navigating the island. Their attention to detail and ability to create a warm, homey, and welcoming atmosphere are consistently praised.
6. Location & Accessibility
The inn is situated in Vineyard Haven, a short uphill walk of about 0.5 miles (10 minutes) from the ferry terminal, main street shops, and restaurants. Despite its proximity to the village, the property's two acres of gardens and woodland create a peaceful and secluded retreat. The complimentary bikes provided by the inn make exploring Vineyard Haven and other "down-island" attractions easy. For guests with luggage, taking a cab from the ferry is suggested due to the uphill walk.
7. Value & Pricing
Nobnocket Boutique Inn is considered a "value chic" option, offering a luxury experience with many included amenities. The price range for rooms typically falls between $195 and $650 per night, depending on the room type and season. Given the high level of service, quality of accommodations, and the numerous complimentary offerings, guests generally feel it is well worth the cost.
8. Common Complaints
While overwhelmingly positive, a few points to note include that the inn is an adults-only property, welcoming guests aged 16 and older, and does not accommodate pets. There is no elevator, so all rooms are accessed via stairs, which could be a consideration for guests with mobility issues. Additionally, breakfast is served within a specific one-hour window, and cancellations due to weather are only permitted if the Steamship Authority ferry service is entirely cancelled for the day, with travel insurance strongly recommended. There are no kitchen facilities available to guests.

As locals, we recommend Nobnocket to anyone visiting and we’ve even done staycations ourselves. Annabelle and Simon are stellar hosts who make everything feel effortless and personal. Breakfast is top notch, with thoughtful touches and locally roasted Chilmark Coffee that starts the day right. Rooms are quiet, beautifully designed, and thoughtfully decorated, more boutique residence than hotel. F...

I stayed for one night during a stopover between two works trips between Boston and Chicago to "see the sights" for the Jaws 50th Anniversary happening on the island. I chose Nobnocket based on its proximity to the Martha's Vineyard Museum (walking distance) - but soon learned that the Inn itself was one of the key attractions of the island. Luxury level service and accommodations right out of a N...

Simon and Annabel run an amazing establishment. Over the course of our booking the attention to detail of each aspect the stay was superb. We had a very comfortable room and coming back at night to turn down service and a night cap made winding down each evening an additional experience. Would highly recommend for folks looking for a place to stay during their time on the island.

Simon and Annabelle at Nobnocket create a warm and homey experience on the Island. I was greeted like an old friend and felt immediately at home. The Inn is beautiful and decorated to perfectly showcase their Liverpool roots. Bedside or table-side breakfast each morning was excellent and was a great way to take a slow morning. Just a short walk to Vineyard Haven's main street or a little lower to...
