8. Common Complaints

While overall reviews are highly positive, one recurring criticism mentions that the breakfast buffet, while generally good, sometimes has limited selection, particularly with cold cuts that needed refilling upon request. There was also feedback regarding frozen butter and self-service coffee from a machine. Additionally, one review mentioned some staff at the reception being perceived as "Bavarian-direct" to the point of unfriendliness, which contrasted with the generally warm feedback on staff. Some guests felt the price-performance ratio was not always adequate, especially given expectations for a 5-star hotel, although it's officially a 4-star property with a Michelin Key.

This hotel truly impressed me with its high quality everything. The room they gave me was HUGE, and it was one of the nicest rooms I’ve ever stayed in. I didn’t deserve a room this nice, but I sure appreciated it. The manager was friendly and helpful for my entire stay, and I loved the restaurant so much that I are there twice. The beer that they brew onsite was delicious, and the two entrees ...

Attached to the Ammergauer Maxbrau Brewery, this boutique hotel exceeded my expectations in every way. We arrived hours before check-in, and they took our bags and stored them, then placed them in our room before we returned. The balcony provided a beautiful view of the famed Kofel Mountain and overlooked much of our end of the village. They offer a wide variety of foods on their breakfast buff...

This was my 3rd time to Oberammergau and the first time staying at Hotel Maximilian. Every other time it's been booked solid - and now I know why! The hotel and staff were outstanding! My room was exceptional and offered an amazing view of the mountains. Breakfast was fantastic and their restaurant for dinner is top notch! I highly recommend Hotel Maximilian to anyone visiting the area!

I had one thing in writing about the rate and he disagreed and told me to leave his hotel. It was night time, I had never been there before and I was alone. I filed a formal complaint to booking.com, the police, NATO (the organization I was traveling for) and have even co...

Wonderful stay at Hotel Maximillian! Beautiful spacious room on third floor with large comfortable balcony and view of mountains. Small but excellent spa area, with sauna, steam room and jacuzzi. Madeleine provided excellent service! Highly recommended hotel in lovely village right at the base of the mountains.
