Guests consistently laud several aspects of the Mandarin Oriental Sanya:
- Service & Staff: The attentive, friendly, and professional staff are a recurring highlight, often going "above and beyond" to ensure guest satisfaction. Personalized service, including being addressed by name, is frequently mentioned.
- Location & Design: The resort's prime location on Coral Bay, nestled along a pristine 1.2-mile stretch of internationally protected coral beach and surrounded by lush tropical gardens, provides a secluded and beautiful hideaway. The architecture, inspired by Hainan's Li and Miao ethnic groups and tropical elements, seamlessly blends with the natural surroundings. The beautiful lobby and incredible gardens are also noted.
- Amenities: The property offers an impressive array of amenities, including three outdoor swimming pools (VISTA, ACTIVO, and TRANQUILLO, catering to different activities like lap swimming and recreation), a private beach, a well-maintained kids' club, and an expansive Spa Village with 18 treatment rooms. Free Wi-Fi, a fitness center, and a range of water sports are also available.

- Beach Access/Rules: A surprising criticism for a beachfront resort is the occasional issue with swimming not being allowed in the designated beach area, or the area not being clearly marked.
- Child Safety: Concerns were raised regarding the lack of child safety locks on balcony sliding doors in some rooms.
- Privacy/Noise: Some ground-floor rooms have experienced issues with thin walls and noise from adjacent or upstairs rooms, impacting sleep.

I booked this hotel through American Express Fine Hotels & Resorts as an Amex Platinum cardholder, with the reservation fully prepaid and non-refundable. Before arrival, I called the front desk to confirm that if the cardholder could not arrive, the listed guest could still check in (without FHR benefits). I was explicitly told this was acceptable. However, three days before check-in, the hotel m...

I am extremely disappointed with the level of service at Sanya Mandarin Oriental. It is disheartening to see such poor training standards. It’s especially frustrating given that I have personally referred many businesses to host events at your hotel in the Greater Bay Area. This experience has been deeply disappointing.

World-class hotel with excellent service and stunning landscape. Large and comfortable rooms, pillow menu, even flip-flops to walk under the rain

The snorkelling was great. Our 2 year old son loved playing in the sand and the pool. The independent house was nice with it's own pool and was close to the beach with snorkelling close. Snorkelling had beautiful fish and quite a bit of coral in the snorkelling area. Having our own small pool at the house was nicer than I thought it would be. The breakfast was great even with my food sensitivities...

A mess. Main pool is closed indefinitely, small ‘infinity’ pool is not temperature controlled, the food is average at best. No tennis court as stated on website, no basketball court as mentioned in resort map. Room condition is deteriorating, service mediocre from front end staff - housekeeping staff is ok. Not an MO experience.
