Guests frequently commend its cleanliness, spacious rooms, and the high quality of its restaurant and attentive service. The hotel was also recognized as the "Best Hotel in South East Wales 2024-2025".

2. Key Highlights

Guests consistently love several aspects of Llanerch Vineyard Hotel:

  • Service & Staff: The staff are frequently described as attentive, friendly, and genuinely welcoming, making guests feel like they are staying at a friend's house rather than a hotel.
  • Location & Design: The hotel boasts a picturesque and peaceful location amidst rolling vineyards and woodlands, offering a sense of seclusion despite being just minutes from Cardiff. The interiors are noted for their luxurious, modern, and spotlessly clean design, combining contemporary comforts with the charm of a working vineyard.
  • Amenities: Key amenities include free Wi-Fi, ample free parking, and in-room coffee machines. A major draw is the opportunity for vineyard tours and wine tastings, which are a significant part of the Llanerch experience. The hotel also offers accessible rooms with thoughtful features.

3. Room Quality

The rooms at Llanerch Vineyard Hotel are generally described as luxurious, modern, spacious, and spotlessly clean, providing a high level of comfort. Many rooms offer fantastic views of the surrounding vineyard, and some even feature balconies. Standard amenities include hair dryers, refrigerators, bathrobes, slippers, and toiletries from The White Company. It's worth noting that while Countryside Superior Rooms and Suites have air conditioning, Courtyard and Standard Double rooms do not.

4. Dining Experience

The dining experience at Llanerch Vineyard is a significant highlight for many guests.

  • Restaurant Quality: The on-site restaurant is highly acclaimed, with guests using terms like "incredible," "faultless," "excellent," and even "the best in the area". It holds 2 AA Rosettes and focuses on locally sourced, sustainably produced Welsh cuisine, complemented by an exceptional wine list, including their own Cariad wine.
  • Dinner: Dinner is often described as exceptional, with dishes that are delicious, full of flavor, and beautifully prepared.
  • Breakfast: While generally praised as "brilliant" and "faultless," offering a delicious Full Welsh breakfast and catering to dietary needs like gluten-free options, some guests have found the breakfast options to be occasionally disappointing or generic, feeling it could be more aligned with a boutique hotel experience for the price. A full breakfast incurs an additional charge.

Many describe feeling genuinely welcomed and appreciated, with staff going the extra mile, such as extending checkout times for guests booked on vineyard tours.

Expedia shows prices from £144 for a one-night stay for two adults as of January 2026. Guests looking for the best deals might find them in February and December, or by booking stays on Sundays or Tuesdays, as Saturdays are typically the most expensive. While many guests feel the hotel offers good value, some have expressed that the value for money could be improved, particularly concerning the breakfast options in relation to the price paid.

8. Common Complaints

While generally highly rated, a few recurring criticisms have been noted by guests:

  • Breakfast Discrepancies: Some guests found the breakfast options to be less inspiring or generic compared to the high standard of the dinner service.
  • Noise Levels: Concerns about noise due to thin walls have been mentioned by some guests. Daytime vineyard operations may also contribute to some ambient noise.
  • Minor Room Maintenance Issues: Isolated reports include a plastic bathroom sink appearing stained, dirty bathroom doors and hand-wash bottles, and a shower with poor drainage leading to water overflow and an unpleasant smell. One guest also noted the absence of a desk lamp.
  • Reception Hours: The reception is not always staffed 24 hours, particularly from early evening, requiring guests to call a number for assistance.
  • Restaurant Seating: A minor point of contention for one guest was the restaurant being "a bit small" with "uncomfortable" seating.
  • Air Conditioning: Not all room types are equipped with air conditioning.

Possibly one of the best hotel experiences I have had (and I have traveled a lot and stayed in hotels all over the world). We stayed here as we were going to watch Wales vs France for the Six Nations and from start to finish our experience was exceptional. The staff were all amazing and went above and beyond our expectations. A particular mention to Henry and Jack who looked after us in the amazin...

Came here for an afternoon tea. We had their festive menu which is different from the one online, think turkey sandwiches, ‘Christmas bauble’ desserts. You could pick another hot drink if you didn’t want tea (I had hot chocolate which was amazing!). The food was lovely and I did enjoy it, but I think £35 per person was a little on the expensive side for what it was. That said, the staff were frien...

I cannot recommend this hotel enough. I recently stayed here with my husband celebrating our 20 year anniversary. The hotel upgraded our room to a suite and we had a complimentary bottle of bubbles and Welsh cakes in our room. The wine tasting we had booked was with Vicky who was extremely knowledgeable and a joy to learn from. The wine we sampled was absolutely gorgeous too. Our evening meal at t...

Visited th restaurant. The food was exceptional. The location was stunning. But the service could be improved. We ordered some nibbles for the table. They never arrived but they tried to charge us for them at the end. We still left with a very enjoyable evening. And the wine was very nice.

Good high tea. View over the vineyard was really beautiful. The savoury part was our favourite. The cream with the scones was cheesy instead of fresh. The cakes were too large. It was overall great, but would rather have do e a la carte.
