Many consider it a "10/10 experience" and an "absolutely gorgeous property." The hotel is lauded for its unique and stylish ambiance, blending a rich history with modern design.

2. Key Highlights

Guests consistently rave about several aspects of Les Haras:

  • Design & Ambiance: The hotel's transformation from an 18th-century royal horse stud farm into a high-end design hotel by Parisian designers Patrick Jouin and Sanjit Manku is a significant highlight. The architecture, with its exposed timbers and curving wood, offers a unique and stylish setting. The majestic interior courtyard with century-old trees adds to its tranquility.
  • Comfort & Rooms: The beds are frequently described as "extremely comfortable" and "divine," ensuring a restful stay.
  • Location: Its quiet yet central location, within easy walking distance of the old town and major attractions, is a major draw.
  • Amenities: The expansive spa, featuring a hammam, sauna, a 17-meter pool, and a well-equipped gym, is a significant highlight for guests seeking relaxation. The excellent breakfast is also often praised.

3. Room Quality

Les Haras offers large and comfortable rooms and suites that are lauded for their elegant and authentic design. The minimalist aesthetic, incorporating "Seventies-inspired colors and a sort of futuristic modernism," creates a serene and subtly warm atmosphere, contrasting beautifully with the historical architectural details like exposed timbers. Rooms are equipped with tailor-made contemporary furniture crafted from noble materials such as wood, leather, metal, and natural fabrics. Standard amenities include air conditioning, a safe, an electric kettle, an LCD TV, free toiletries, bathrobes, and slippers. Many rooms also feature a Nespresso coffee machine (excluding classic rooms) and overlook the charming courtyard.

4. Dining Experience

The hotel's dining offerings are well-regarded:

  • Breakfast: The buffet breakfast is described as "excellent" and "exquisite," featuring farm produce, some of which is local and organic. Guests can enjoy hot drinks, fresh fruit juices, a variety of breads, pastries, homemade cakes, local jams and honey, cheeses, cold meats, seasonal fruit, and cereals. Breakfast can be served in the dining room, on the terrace, or via 24-hour room service.
  • La Brasserie Les Haras: Located within the property, though independently operated, La Brasserie des Haras is celebrated for its modern, friendly cuisine, serving French classics with an Alsatian accent. The menu is crafted by starred chef Marc Haeberlin in collaboration with chef François Baur. Guests are advised to reserve in advance, and the hotel team can assist with bookings.

5. Service & Staff

The service at Les Haras is consistently highlighted as friendly, helpful, and accommodating. Guests appreciate the "caring staff" who provide "discreet and special attention" to ensure unique and tailor-made moments. 6. Location & Accessibility

Les Haras boasts a superb location in Strasbourg. It is situated in a quiet area but remains "within easy reach of the old town" and "a short walk to the city center." Key attractions like the Strasbourg Cathedral (0.6 miles) and the Modern Art Museum (1640 feet) are easily accessible on foot. The hotel is also conveniently located near public transport, including Strasbourg's tramway, and offers easy access to the A35 motorway. Strasbourg Airport is approximately 9.9 miles away. Private and valet parking are available on-site for a fee.

7. Value & Pricing

As an upscale, Michelin-recognized property, Les Haras is considered a luxury hotel. While specific value perceptions vary, guests generally find the experience worthwhile. Typical prices for a 1-night stay for two adults start from around $159.95, with average weeknight prices around $282 and weekend nights around $335. However, prices can fluctuate significantly, with November often being the most expensive month and June the cheapest. Additional costs include private parking at EUR 40 per day, valet parking also at EUR 40 per day, and breakfast at approximately EUR 29 per adult. A pet fee of EUR 25 per pet per night also applies.

8. Common Complaints

While overwhelmingly positive, some minor criticisms have been noted:

  • Soundproofing: A few guests have reported "only partial soundproofing" between rooms, occasionally hearing guests walking above them.
  • Check-in Experience: One guest mentioned the reception area being "surprisingly small for a hotel of this size" and, upon arrival, found it "crowded and somewhat chaotic," with a lack of clear directions regarding bellboy service.

Great and inspirering servings, but 2 drawbacks: a) For a restaurant at this level, the service has to be above average. On several occaions we had to actually call the waiters to get their attention - 2 samples: When seated we said we wanted an apertitif. We had to call again for that. The first serving arrived before the wine we ordered - Completely unacceptable. Our glasses were not kept up by ...

I booked to dine at this brasserie after seeing the photos of the stunning architecture, and it did not disappoint. I love the stairs and space - I think the architects have done an amazing job in creating something new while retaining & restoring the historic elements and structure. The set lunch menu is really good-value and the dishes were nicely presented and delicious esp. the dessert. The sl...

The truffle knepfle is one of those meals that I will be dreaming of forever! The whiskey sours were amazing! My husband got the ribeye and it was a little chewy but overall good! I got the Pinot Gris and it was divine. I hope I can come back here one day because my experience was fantastic.

Amazing service, food and atmosphere. We are welcomed with smiles by the waiters even though we spoke broken french. The staircase was stunning so I wanted to take videos, the waiter even showed me where to get the best shot. The food was generous in portion and easily the best meal I've had in France. I recommended the simmental beef filet tagliata. Would come back

A delicious lunch of magret de canard and foie gras. The restaurant itself is a masterpiece of design and restoration.
