2. Key Highlights
Guests consistently laud Kasteelhoeve de Kerckhem for its enchanting historic building, dating back to 1648, and its tranquil, lush gardens and courtyard. The rooms are equipped with hypo-allergenic bedding, Egyptian cotton sheets, and pillowtop mattresses, ensuring a restful night's sleep. Private bathrooms offer garden views and include either a deep soaking tub or a shower, along with bathrobes and free toiletries. Some guests have specifically noted the spaciousness and cleanliness of the rooms, often with separate toilets and showers.
4. Dining Experience
Dining at Kasteelhoeve de Kerckhem is a highlight, with an emphasis on "slow food" and fresh, homegrown ingredients. The on-site restaurant serves a "table d'hôte" dinner, offering a single, impressively well-composed menu crafted from organic produce harvested from the property's own orchards, vegetable, and herb gardens. The dinner experience, often served in the open kitchen, is described as both delicious and surprising with original recipes. For breakfast, a comprehensive buffet is available for a fee (approximately €17.50 per person), featuring freshly baked bread, croissants, local cheeses and hams, and homemade jams. 8. Common Complaints
While overall satisfaction is very high, some minor issues or criticisms have been noted. One guest reported a significant inconvenience due to a last-minute cancellation (4 days prior) of an 8-month-old booking, attributed to TV recordings, which they found unprofessional. Another dining experience mentioned the main course being monotonous in taste and the dessert overly sweet, alongside an issue with an incorrect drink bill and a feeling of being rushed. It is also worth noting that noise-free guestrooms cannot be guaranteed, and some outdoor spaces (balconies, patios, terraces) may not be suitable for young children. Expedia also indicates that there is no daily housekeeping service.
