Expert Review: Hyatt Regency Tsim Sha Tsui
The Hyatt Regency Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon, Hong Kong, stands as a Michelin Key Selected property, offering a compelling blend of prime location, attentive service, and modern comforts. It is recognized for providing "a very special stay with character and exceptional service".
1. Overall Rating & Sentiment
The general consensus among guests is highly positive, often describing the hotel as a "fantastic place" and earning solid ratings, such as 4 out of 5 stars from various reviewers. While some minor criticisms exist, they are generally outweighed by the overall positive experience, highlighting the hotel's ability to combine convenience, comfort, and value.
2. Key Highlights
Guests consistently praise the hotel's exceptional location, friendly and helpful staff, modern and beautiful rooms, and excellent dining options. Its direct connectivity to the K11 Art Mall and the Tsim Sha Tsui MTR stations is a significant advantage, making exploration effortless. Many appreciate the stunning panoramic views of Victoria Harbour and Hong Kong Island available from higher-floor rooms. Amenities like the outdoor pool, whirlpool, and a spacious fitness center also contribute to a well-rounded stay.
3. Room Quality
The hotel's 381 rooms and suites are described as handsome, modern, and impeccably clean and comfortable. They feature sharp bathrooms, ample storage space, and excellent soundproofing. Post-2002 renovations have given the rooms a more upscale and mature decor, moving away from a traditional Chinese/Asian style. Many rooms boast impressive city views, with some offering partial vistas of Victoria Harbour. Guests often highlight the luxurious beds, spacious bathrooms, and thoughtful touches like power adapters. Higher-category bathrooms may include separate rainfall showers and soaking tubs, along with ingenious design elements like peek-a-boo mirrors that open into the bedroom, enhancing the sense of space. While standard rooms can feel slightly compact for some, suites provide significantly more space. Some guests note that beds can be firm.
4. Dining Experience
The Hyatt Regency Tsim Sha Tsui offers highly-regarded dining options. The breakfast buffet at The Cafe is often lauded as "phenomenal" and very extensive, featuring a wide array of choices and made-to-order options. The Cafe is a popular venue throughout the day, attracting both hotel guests and locals. Room service is noted for its high-quality meals, though it can be expensive. The dinner buffet at The Cafe has received specific praise for its elegant environment and pleasant surprises, including sweet and tender boiled lobster, grilled lobster, pan-fried giant tiger prawns, and a variety of delicious sashimi. For those with Regency Club access, breakfast is available, offering a good but more compact selection compared to the main restaurant.
5. Service & Staff
Service at the hotel is generally excellent, with staff consistently described as friendly, helpful, and efficient. From proactive bellhops to knowledgeable front desk agents, guests appreciate the attentiveness. Staff members are often seen assisting with elevator buttons and offering friendly greetings in hallways. The service in the Regency Club is particularly highlighted as consistently positive, with staff maintaining a clean, stocked buffet and offering additional services. While some older reviews mention impersonal check-in or initial "rocky starts," these are typically resolved quickly by the friendly team. An older review did express disappointment with the perceived "half-assed effort" and minimalist approach to breakfast in the lounge, suggesting better options were available at other Hyatt properties.
6. Location & Accessibility
The hotel boasts a "perfect" and highly convenient location in the vibrant Tsim Sha Tsui district of Kowloon, placing guests at the heart of both business and tourism. It offers direct access to the Tsim Sha Tsui East and Tsim Sha Tsui MTR Stations via the K11 Art Mall, simplifying travel across Hong Kong. The Avenue of Stars, with its nightly light shows and stunning Victoria Harbour views, is within easy walking distance. The surrounding area is bustling with abundant shopping, dining, and drinking options. Complimentary shuttles to Kowloon Station for the Airport Express further enhance its accessibility. However, the area can be quite crowded and hectic, especially during peak hours, which can make navigating for specific services like Uber pickups challenging.
7. Value & Pricing
The Hyatt Regency Tsim Sha Tsui is often considered a good value, particularly for World of Hyatt loyalists using points or free night certificates. As of 2025 updates, it is a Category 5 property in the World of Hyatt program, with award nights starting around 15,000 points. Cash rates can be steep, with average weeknights around $228 and weekend nights around $278. Some reviewers suggest that if paying cash, better value might be found at other hotels, including other Hyatt properties in Hong Kong, depending on individual priorities.
8. Common Complaints
Recurring criticisms, while generally minor, include occasional mentions of cleanliness issues and a perceived need for improvement in certain amenities. Some guests have found the Regency Club breakfast to be less extensive or diverse compared to other high-end hotels in Asia. Not all rooms offer a harbor view, and some might not include a soaking tub. The bustling nature of Tsim Sha Tsui can lead to crowded public areas and difficulties with navigation for ride-sharing services. An older review from 2017 highlighted issues with receiving a less desirable "building view" room despite using an upgrade, coupled with perceived indifferent staff and a limited lounge food selection. Low water pressure in some faucets has also been noted as a minor inconvenience.

The hotel is ideally located directly above the metro station and a shopping mall, making it very convenient for getting around. However, the stay itself wasn't particularly comfortable. The room had almost no amenities; only low-cost instant coffee and creamer were provided, with no coffee machine available. Additionally, the sound insulation is poor, as I could clearly hear people walking past m...

Globalist check-in is on the 23rd floor lounge. The hotel was booked solid that weekend and no upgrades were available however Stephanie worked her magic and gave us a room on the club level with harbor view. Thank you Stephanie! Love the location-very central, Uber readily available anytime day or night, very cheap. The hotel is attached to a mall AND subway stop with lots of food and shopping ...

I think this is a great hotel. The breakfast is fantastic and huge. Business lounge is nice but for the price they are charging per night, they should update their design and make it a little more modern - the design is quite old-fashioned. Other than that, the service is efficient and respectful.

Staying at the Hyatt Regency in Tsim Sha Tsui was one of the best decisions for our Hong Kong trip. The location is absolutely unbeatable — right in the heart of the city, surrounded by endless restaurants, major shopping malls, and even vibrant street markets where you can shop at great prices. Everything you want to see, eat, or buy in Hong Kong feels just steps away. Hong Kong itself is a food...

About 4–5 years ago, I stayed at this hotel as a temporary residence during the COVID outbreak. The room was spacious and comfortable for sleeping, though not ideal for working long hours because of the limited natural light. The location was excellent—right next to the MTR and K11 mall. Living in that area felt effortless since everything was within reach, from restaurants and shops to various co...

We stayed here for a week and thoroughly enjoyed our experience. The hotel is centrally located, making it very convenient to get around. Most places were within walking distance, and taxis were easily available. There are plenty of nearby eateries offering authentic Chinese cuisine, which was a great bonus. The hotel is also located within a mall, making quick shopping or dining extremely conveni...
