Review scores consistently rank high for location, cleanliness, comfort, and staff performance. Many consider it one of the best hotels they have ever stayed in, highlighting its superb attention to detail.

2. Key Highlights

Guests consistently rave about several aspects of Hotel Villa Favorita:

  • Location: Its unparalleled beachfront position directly on La Concha promenade offers breathtaking panoramic ocean views, with easy walking access to almost all major attractions and the Old Town.
  • Service & Staff: The staff is frequently described as "the best," "wonderful," "super friendly," and "extremely attentive to details." Personalized service, including handwritten birthday notes and assistance with language practice, leaves a lasting impression.
  • Views: The "magical" and "surreal" panoramic ocean views, especially from sea-facing rooms and terraces, are a major draw.
  • Design & Ambiance: The hotel's "charming" and "beautiful" blend of contemporary and historical elements, with elegant, old-school interiors featuring antique furniture, patterned wallpaper, and thoughtful accents, creates a luxurious and unique atmosphere.

3. Room Quality

The 23 rooms, including three suites, are described as clean, comfortable, and "luxuriously cosy." While some mention rooms can be small, they are well-appointed with enough storage space. Eighteen of the rooms offer exceptional panoramic sea views, and investing in one of these is highly recommended. The décor features a restrained palette of neutrals with Atlantic blue accents, and some rooms lean into a chintz aesthetic with pastel-blue velvet, gold, and black. Bathrooms are often covered with glimmering mirrors, and amenities include beach towels, 49-inch TVs, free bottled water, tea and coffee kits, and bespoke bath products. Electric blinds are a noted convenience for enjoying the magnificent views.

4. Dining Experience

Hotel Villa Favorita offers an exceptional gastronomic experience, featuring two distinct spaces overseen by Chef Paulo Airaudo:

  • Amelia Restaurant (Two Michelin Stars): This acclaimed fine-dining restaurant, mentioned as a destination dining experience, offers a unique tasting menu that changes monthly. The cuisine is creative, based on local ingredients, and influenced by Chef Airaudo's Italian and Argentine roots, modernized in European style. The decoration is striking, with nods to pop culture and contemporary art, and diners can enjoy views into the open kitchen.
  • Villa Favorita Bar: This elegant space has an indoor dining area and a terrace with sea views, serving exceptional breakfasts, a high-quality snack menu, and a wide selection of wines and cocktails. Guests praise the delicious breakfast, which includes eggs cooked to order, such as a wonderful spinach omelette. The staff's knowledge and advice regarding wines are also highly regarded. Even room service and "fine eating" are present at all times.

5. Service & Staff

The service at Hotel Villa Favorita is consistently highlighted as a major strength. Staff members are repeatedly described as "the best," "super friendly," "helpful," and "extremely attentive to details." 6. Location & Accessibility

The hotel boasts an "excellent" and "prime" location directly on the beachfront promenade of La Concha Bay, offering "unbeatable" views. It's just a 5-minute walk from La Concha Beach and a small walk to the Old Town, making it ideal for exploring San Sebastian's attractions. Nearby points of interest include Calle Mayor and the Victoria Eugenia Theater. San Sebastián Airport is approximately 13 miles away. The hotel has a lift and specially adapted rooms for disabled and hearing- and vision-impaired guests, ensuring accessibility.

7. Value & Pricing

While specific price ranges are not detailed in the provided snippets, the descriptions of Hotel Villa Favorita as a "remarkable luxury boutique hotel" with "pure luxury" and "exceptional" offerings suggest it falls into a higher price bracket. The Michelin One-Key rating further reinforces its position as a premium property. Guests who value "excellent service, and clean and unique accommodations" feel that Villa Favorita "does not disappoint," implying that the cost is justified by the high quality of the experience. Rates include breakfast.

8. Common Complaints

While overwhelmingly positive, a very few minor criticisms appear in guest feedback:

  • One guest mentioned that the "bar service" was not perfect, despite praising everything else.
  • A humorous anecdote from a guest indicated that some room light switches could be confusing, leading to guests mistakenly expecting wine or a shower when pressing them.

They offered continental breakfast with tortilla and option of eggs and the coffee was good. The location was perfect, good view of the ocean and a short walk to the old town. What a beautiful hotel with amazing staff and in a gorgeous location. We had the most relaxing and enjoyable stay despite the rain. I recommend prebooking a taxi with them for hotel transport as uber sometimes does not work and there are limited cars in San Sebastian. The bed was super comfortable and we loved watching the waves come in while we enjoyed a delicious breakfast. The rooms are spaciou...

Service was overall good as well. Alba was a wonderful concierge and was really helpful with making recommendations and securing reservations. Strong recommendation for anyone visiting San Sebastián.

This is a wonderful hotel that could be perfect. Front desk service was friendly and efficient throughout. The view from our room was spectacular. The bar stopped serving cocktails after 9pm which was disappointing. Breakfast had a very limited choice. I expected much better. It was pretty noisy all night with people partying on the beach and walking past, so we had to shut the door and couldn’t h...
