Expert Review: Hotel Osam

Hotel Osam in Supetar, Croatia, a Michelin Key Selected property, is consistently praised by guests for its serene adults-only atmosphere, exceptional service, and prime waterfront location.

Overall Rating & Sentiment

Hotel Osam generally receives "Excellent" and "Fabulous" ratings from guests, with high scores across various platforms. The overall sentiment is overwhelmingly positive, with many visitors calling it a "wonderful place" and a "slice of heaven".

Key Highlights

Guests frequently commend Hotel Osam for its attentive and friendly staff, its enviable location right on the harbor, and the comfortable, well-designed rooms. The hotel's adults-only policy contributes to a tranquil and relaxing atmosphere, making it ideal for couples or friends seeking a peaceful island retreat. Other highlights include an impressive breakfast, a stylish rooftop bar offering panoramic sea views, and a combination of indoor and outdoor swimming pools with comfy loungers.

Room Quality

The hotel offers modernly furnished and immaculately clean rooms and suites, including Double Rooms, Garden Superior Rooms, and One Bedroom Suites. Each unit is air-conditioned and features a flat-screen satellite TV, a mini-fridge, and tea/coffee making facilities. Private bathrooms are designed in a clean, contemporary style with showers and hairdryers. Guests often highlight the "super nice" and "extremely comfortable" beds, ensuring a restful night's sleep. Many rooms include private balconies, often with direct sea views. However, some sea-facing balconies directly overlook the pool and sun terrace, which can compromise privacy. The minimalist design, while stylish, can lead to limited storage space, with some guests noting only one drawer per person.

Dining Experience

The on-site à la carte Restaurant Otok, featured in the Michelin Guide for 2024, offers "island cuisine" with a focus on fresh ingredients. It provides both an indoor dining area and an outdoor terrace with captivating sea views, suitable for breakfast, lunch, or a romantic dinner. Breakfast is served as a "delicious" and "impressive" buffet, featuring a wide array of choices including omelettes, sausages, fresh vegetables, pastries, and fruits. While the à la carte options are generally well-received, some guests on half-board packages have found the evening meal choices to be monotonous over longer stays, occasionally describing main courses as "disappointing" and accompanying vegetables as "poorly cooked".

Service & Staff

The service and staff at Hotel Osam consistently receive glowing reviews. Guests frequently describe them as "super friendly and attentive," "exceptionally helpful," and going "above and beyond" to ensure a pleasant stay. Many express feeling treated "like royalty" from check-in to check-out. Specific staff members are often singled out for their outstanding hospitality and helpfulness. The reception desk operates 24 hours and staff are fluent in English, German, and Croatian.

Location & Accessibility

Hotel Osam boasts an "excellent" and "glorious" waterfront location within the historic core of Supetar, making it incredibly convenient for exploring the town. It's just a short 2-3 minute walk from the Supetar Ferry Port, providing easy access to Split. The nearest beach is only 50 meters away, with Supetar Beach a 7-minute walk. The hotel is surrounded by a pedestrian walking area with various shops, and attractions like the Church of St. Petra, museums, and local markets are all nearby. Split Airport is approximately 41 km away. The property is in a pedestrian-only zone, and while there is limited on-site parking, additional spaces are available 500 meters away at an affiliated resort.

Value & Pricing

The hotel scores well for value for money, rated at 8.5 by guests. While specific price ranges are not provided, the overwhelmingly positive feedback regarding the overall experience, facilities, and service suggests that guests generally consider their stay at Hotel Osam to be well worth the cost. The offering of breakfast and half-board options caters to different preferences.

Common Complaints

Despite the high praise, a few recurring issues have been noted by guests. The most common complaints include:

  • Privacy on Balconies: Some sea-facing balconies offer limited privacy as they directly overlook the pool and sun terrace, requiring guests to keep curtains closed.
  • Limited Storage: The minimalist design of the rooms can result in insufficient storage space, with guests mentioning only one drawer per person.
  • Half-Board Dining Consistency: While breakfast is highly praised, some guests on half-board plans found the dinner menu to be repetitive and the quality of evening meals inconsistent, especially over longer stays.
  • Parking: The hotel has a limited number of parking spaces on-site, with additional parking located a short walk away.

Our stay was absolutely phantastic! We initially booked one week but extended for another wek because we truely loved it. The entire hotel is beautiful and spotlessly clean. We enjoyed the heated panoramic pool and the cozy infrared sauna. We loved the room as well. The staff was super-considerate - my sister needs a wheelchair. Absolutely perfect! The food was excellent - far above standard. Ev...

Had a really nice stay here. The staff were all nice, except from the guy at the roofbar. Felt like he didn't want us up there. Maybe he just had a bad day, but we choosed not to get up there more than once. All in all a very calm hotell, perfect for a pleasant stay in Supetar.
