Hôtel de la Mer, a Michelin Key Selected property in Brignogan-Plage, France, offers a captivating seaside escape with a focus on contemporary design, exceptional service, and breathtaking views of the rugged Breton coastline. The hotel is particularly praised for its tranquil and welcoming atmosphere, making it a favored destination for families and friends seeking relaxation.

2. Key Highlights

Guests consistently laud the hotel's unbeatable location directly on the beach, offering panoramic sea views from most rooms and the restaurant. The contemporary and tastefully redesigned interiors are frequently highlighted, with a crisp, minimalist aesthetic that incorporates subtle maritime touches, drawing the eye towards the horizon. The warm and attentive service also stands out, with staff often described as "adorable," "very friendly," and "caring." Furthermore, the on-site Spa by Omnisens, featuring a sauna, hammam, and treatment rooms, provides an added layer of serenity and is a significant draw for many visitors.

3. Room Quality

Many rooms offer spectacular sea views, which are highly recommended by guests. Interiors are crisp and minimalist, with a contemporary boutique hotel feel. Amenities typically include satellite television, private bathrooms, and free Wi-Fi. While generally praised, one guest did note a small room and excellent bedding, with a bathroom lacking in storage. Some rooms also have garden views.

4. Dining Experience

The dining experience at Hôtel de la Mer is a significant draw, particularly at its restaurant, Le Pontusval, named after the nearby lighthouse. The restaurant offers "gourmet cuisine based on local products," with a bistronomic approach that is elegant and refined, focusing on Brittany's rich local produce and incorporating "iodine touches that echo the sea horizon." Chef Sébastien Duhamel, a Maître Restaurateur, is praised for his sincere and inspired cooking. Guests recommend making reservations, especially if desiring a window seat to enjoy the breathtaking sea views. The menu is well-cooked, though some guests have found it a bit limited and not frequently changed.

Breakfast, served daily, is a buffet featuring fresh local products, including bread from a local bakery, jams, hot drinks from a Breton coffee roaster, and dairy products from a local farm, offering a "100% Breton experience" with viennoiseries, crêpes, far breton, charcuterie, and smoked salmon. It can be enjoyed in the dining area overlooking the sea or in the privacy of your room.

The hotel also features a "Bistrot Gourmand" which offers a cozy and friendly atmosphere with sea views, as well as a warm and inviting bar and a tea lounge with a fireplace. A snack menu is available daily at the bar or on the terrace.

Another mentioned room prices ranging from €80-160, though this information is from 2016. The buffet breakfast is an additional cost, approximately EUR 20 per adult and EUR 12 per child. Guests generally perceive the value for money as good given the high quality of amenities and the exceptional location, though some find the breakfast price a bit high.

Our stay began with a rainy day in Brittany! (as per usual this time of year!) Even though the rain kept un indoors, it did not stop us from enjoying the breathtaking views of the waves from the hotel’s ocean front bar. Our barman Hassan was absolutely amazing; he was up to every challenge he faced when asked to ‘surprise’ us with something to drink. He delivered! Not only were his drinks good, bu...

Just had a wonderful week at Hotel De La Mer. I had one Premium Sea view room and my wife & little boy had an adjacent one, connected by a door. Both rooms (104 & 105) had beautiful views over the sea through opening tall windows. The rooms were very tastefully decorated and spotlessly clean. The hotel has just reopened after an extensive refurbishment and is wonderfully appointed. We did have a a...

This hotel is not only situated in a magic place, with the sunrise as well as the sunset over the sea thanks to the beautifully curved coast line, turquoise waters scattered with rocks, lighthouses, seagulls, and even seals, but also a magic place itself with a wonderful, dedicated and super kind team, where everything is possible with a smile, a delicious restaurant and pastries, and a cosy room ...

The location is wonderful. Beautiful views of the beach. The hotel itself is somewhat faded despite their claims to have redecorated recently. The rooms were comfortable but somewhat dull although those with a sea view had wonderful views. We stayed 2 nights - Demi-Pension. The food was very average and frankly nothing to write home about. It was not made clear at the time of booking that the DP ...

A blissful spot. Excellent room with breathtaking views exceptionally clean. The staff were all very friendly. Breakfast was well worth the money. Delicious and loads of choice. The only slight glitch on arrival we were ignored at the reception desk until a helpful older lady arrived and apologised. The young lady on reception as we left was the best, charming and helpful. The restaurant foo...

We received a very warm welcome. The staff went out of their way to accommodate an autistic son who finds mealtimes challenging and at short notice were prepared to offer a meal not on the menu. This was highly appreciated. The room was light, airy and comfortable. We would definitely return.
