Hotel B in Lima, Peru, a distinguished Michelin Key One-Key property, consistently garners high praise for its blend of historic elegance, contemporary art, and exceptional service. Guests frequently describe it as a memorable and unique experience in Lima's vibrant Barranco district.
Overall Rating & Sentiment
Hotel B receives overwhelmingly positive feedback, with impressive overall ratings of 9.2 on Agoda, 9.0 on Booking.com, 9.6 on Hoteles.com, and an outstanding 19.7 out of 20 from verified MICHELIN Guide guests. The general consensus is one of an "exquisite stay" in a "gorgeous hotel" that offers "exceptional value" and an "outstanding" experience across all levels, from decor to service and location. Many consider it a "best kept secret" in Lima.
Key Highlights
Guests are particularly captivated by Hotel B's unique blend of a boutique hotel and an art gallery. The property is housed in a beautifully restored Belle Époque mansion from 1914, featuring magnificent and unique modern artwork throughout, much of it by Peruvian artists. The design seamlessly integrates contemporary and traditional wings, creating an elegant and whimsical ambiance.
Service is another standout feature, consistently described as "remarkable," "first-rate," and "incredibly attentive" by guests. The hotel's personalized approach, enhanced by its intimate size of only 17 rooms, is highly appreciated.
The culinary offerings, particularly the "exceptional" breakfast and the included afternoon tea service known as "El Lonche," are frequently highlighted as delightful experiences. The rooftop bar, offering ocean views, is also a popular spot.
The hotel's location in the bohemian Barranco neighborhood is a significant draw, placing guests within easy walking distance of restaurants, galleries, nightlife, and just two blocks from the ocean.
Room Quality
The rooms at Hotel B are described as beautiful, large, and very comfortable, with a romantic and slightly decadent feel. Each is individually decorated, featuring premium bedding, pillowtop mattresses, down comforters, and hypo-allergenic options. Modern comforts such as air conditioning, separate sitting areas, 24-hour room service, flat-screen cable TVs, and iPod docking stations are standard. Bathrooms are well-appointed with rainfall showers and complimentary toiletries.
The "Atelier" rooms are particularly praised for their dramatic dark-wood fixtures, claw-foot tubs, and private terraces overlooking the courtyard. Traditional rooms boast exposed wood beams, high ceilings, and either large rain showers with saunas or stand-alone porcelain baths. Attention to detail is evident with features like double-glazed windows for tranquility, a signature jasmine and fig aroma, artisanal bath products, and handwritten notes for guests.
It is worth noting that not all Atelier and Aposento rooms include bathtubs, so guests with this preference should specify it when booking.
Dining Experience
Hotel B offers an "exceptional" dining experience, starting with a highly-rated breakfast (9.5 guest review score) that includes continental, American, and buffet options, along with hot dishes cooked to order. Guests can choose to order from a menu in addition to the lavish buffet spread.
The complimentary afternoon tea, or "El Lonche," served with small finger foods, sandwiches, and desserts, is a beloved tradition for many visitors.
The on-site restaurant, Hotel B Restobar, presents a contemporary Peruvian cuisine, with Chef Franco Hurtado's menu expertly fusing Mediterranean and Peruvian influences, focusing on native and seasonal ingredients. Dishes such as chargrilled octopus and peppered pork loin have received acclaim. Dining is available in the elegant dining room, on the tranquil Patio courtyard, in the library, or on the rooftop terrace. The rooftop restaurant offers an open-air setting perfect for enjoying contemporary food and drinks while watching the sunset.
The hotel's bar is celebrated for its Peruvian gin and tonics, classic Pisco Sours, and an extensive selection of South American wines, attracting both guests and locals.
Service & Staff
The service at Hotel B is consistently highlighted as a major strength. Guests describe the staff as "first-rate," "professional," "lovely," "friendly," and "incredibly attentive." The team goes above and beyond, with examples like accommodating late checkout requests and even preparing "to go" breakfasts for early departures. The small, intimate nature of the hotel allows for a truly personalized experience. Staff members are proficient in English and Spanish. Additional services include 24-hour room service, laundry, dry cleaning, and arranged airport transfers.
Location & Accessibility
Hotel B is ideally situated in the bohemian Barranco district, renowned for its artistic atmosphere, vibrant nightlife, and numerous galleries and restaurants. It's conveniently located just two blocks from the ocean and offers excellent walkability to local attractions, including the MATE Mario Testino Association and the Pedro de Osma Museum. While Barranco is further south from the airport than Miraflores, many guests prefer its charm and boutique shopping opportunities. The hotel provides complimentary vintage bicycles for exploring the neighborhood.
Jorge Chavez International Airport (LIM) is approximately 13 miles away, about a 40-minute drive, and the hotel can arrange private transfers for an additional fee. The hotel is located on Jirón Sáenz Peña, a quieter boulevard with less traffic.
Value & Pricing
Hotel B is often lauded for its "exceptional value," with guests feeling they receive excellent amenities and services at a reasonable price, earning it a perfect score of 10.0 in this category on some platforms. While prices can vary, some reviews indicate rates around $200 per night, including breakfast, at certain times. More typically, rates may start from approximately $358 per night. The inclusion of a complimentary breakfast and afternoon tea significantly adds to the perceived value. Guests booking through programs like Michelin Guide Plus may also receive benefits such as room upgrades, late checkout, welcome amenities, and hotel credit.
Common Complaints
While overwhelmingly positive, some minor and one significant complaint have been noted by guests. A few visitors expressed disappointment about the lack of a swimming pool. Additionally, the fact that the breakfast is also open to non-guests was mentioned as a slight drawback by one reviewer.
A severe criticism highlighted a single instance of a room having a strong smell of mold and air freshener, accompanied by significant stains on curtains and bedding. While a resolution was attempted, this particular guest reported an abysmal experience and issues with refund processing. Sensitivity to street noise in rooms not facing the quieter Sáenz Peña has also been mentioned.

The building was built in 1914 as a summer home and has been carefully renovated. Beautiful property! We stayed for two nights in a spacious and very comfortable room with excellent amenities. The best breakfast we had during our trip to Peru! Even though we stayed only two nights, the staff made us feel completely at home — everyone was truly kind and welcoming. Perfect location to visit Lima while staying away from the hustle and bustle of Miraflores. Thank you, Lucia

This hotel is a GEM! It is the perfect blend of modern and historic. What a treat when your hotel enhances your vacation in every way. The staff were gracious, the food was delicious (try the Andean eggs), rooms were spacious and thoughtfully appointed. We thoroughly enjoyed exploring the building to enjoy the extensive art collection. We highly recommend this hotel-it was on point!

First off Barranco is the perfect spot in Lima if you like a neighborhood feel with lots of walkability, and tons of Cafes, Bars, and Restaurants. Plus Hotel B is in the perfect location. Just off to the side so as not to be in the Buzz but close enough to want to walk everywhere. Staff are lovely. Restaurant and Bar just perfect. 5/5 👍👍
