1. Overall Rating & Sentiment
The general consensus for Grands Boulevards Experimental is overwhelmingly positive, with guests frequently describing it as "charming," "wonderful," and a "boutique gem." It boasts high scores for comfort (9.4), staff (9.4), cleanliness (9.4), and location (9.3) based on guest reviews. Many express a strong desire to return, highlighting a truly delightful and luxurious Parisian experience.
2. Key Highlights
Guests consistently laud the hotel's distinctive design, which blends 18th-century Parisian elegance with modern, avant-garde touches and a nod to Marie Antoinette's romanticism. The attentiveness and friendliness of the staff are frequently cited as a major highlight, with many guests feeling exceptionally well-cared for. Its superb and convenient location, along with excellent on-site dining and drinking options, including a popular rooftop bar, also stand out as key attractions. The property’s calm atmosphere, despite being in a bustling neighborhood, is also appreciated.
3. Room Quality
The 50 unique bedrooms are described as stylish, comfortable, and thoughtfully designed, often featuring macaron-hued palettes of blue, pink, and green. Rooms offer a modern take on Louis XVI-style pomp with canopy beds, scalloped curtains, and arched doors. Amenities include air conditioning, premium bedding for deep sleep, flat-screen TVs, minibars stocked with cocktails by the Experimental Cocktail Club, and free in-room WiFi. Some rooms, like the Uzes suites, are noted for their generous size (32 sq m, large for Paris), balconies, and impressive twin-sink bathrooms. Guests particularly appreciate the comfortable beds and soundproof windows, ensuring a quiet stay. However, some minor criticisms mention small bedside tables and limited cupboard space.
4. Dining Experience
The hotel features a central "Grand Restaurant" set around a courtyard with a retractable glass ceiling, creating a versatile dining space. The concise Italian-themed menu, devised by chef Giovanni Passerini, is praised for being simple yet succulent, offering dishes like grilled cuttlefish, risotto of spelt, and Giovanni's ravioli. The restaurant offers a lively atmosphere and good food for dinner.
Breakfast is consistently highlighted as delicious, great, phenomenal, and top-notch, offering a satisfying variety that includes freshly squeezed juices, pastries, homemade cakes, eggs, artisan cheese, and cured meats. Ordering breakfast in bed is also a popular and indulgent option. The hotel also features a buzzing rooftop bar, "The Shed," which is a hotspot for both locals and tourists, and a speakeasy-style cocktail bar called "Shell," known for its intriguing beverage list and cocktails.
5. Service & Staff
The service at Grands Boulevards Experimental receives widespread acclaim. Guests frequently commend the staff for being "exceptionally helpful, friendly, knowledgeable, and customer-oriented." Reviewers often mention staff going "above and beyond" to make stays memorable, assisting with bookings, remembering names and drink orders, and even helping with metro tickets. Many guests state they would return based on the staff alone.
6. Location & Accessibility
Located in the 2nd arrondissement, the hotel offers a superb and convenient central Paris location, described as being in the heart of the bourgeois district. It's within easy walking distance of major attractions like Palais Garnier and Galeries Lafayette (within 15 minutes). The hotel is also very well-connected to public transportation, with Grands Boulevards Metro Station just a 2-minute walk away and Richelieu-Drouot Station 5 minutes away. The surrounding area provides ample choices for bars, boutiques, and hip restaurants. Nearby attractions include the Grand Rex Cinema, Grevin Museum, Passage Verdeau, and within walking distance, the Musée des Arts et Métiers and various covered arcades. The hotel is tucked away down an alley, offering a measure of peace and quiet despite its central location.
7. Value & Pricing
While offering a luxurious Parisian experience, the hotel is considered to provide good value for money, with prices for a 1-night stay for two adults starting from around $241.07. This is compared to an average room price of $413 for boutique hotels in Paris, suggesting Grands Boulevards Experimental provides affordable luxury.
8. Common Complaints
While overall reviews are highly positive, some recurring criticisms exist. A few guests have reported issues with room size, describing some as "small and tired." There have also been isolated instances of negative feedback regarding front desk staff, with some experiencing them as "cold, rude, and unfriendly," and citing communication errors or poor management. Limited storage space in rooms, such as small bedside tables and cupboards, has also been noted.

We stayed at Grands Boulevards for 7 nights! This was our first stay here . This place is truly something special. A beautiful boutique hotel in the heart of the second. The metro is directly in front of the hotel, which made it super easy to get around the city. Our room was small (class Paris size), but beautifully and thoughtfully decorated. The service here was outstanding. We felt welc...

The walk up to the hotel is cute, with the iron archway. Didn’t get a chance to try the restaurant inside the courtyard but it looked inviting at night with the lights. The room is very charming. It felt clean and modern and is perfect for a couple wanting an aesthetic intimate getaway. Note that it is small, though most places in Paris are. I maybe should’ve selected a courtyard window view ins...

Great location, the staff is wonderful. Everyone can see into your bathroom because the curtains are so sheer. You need to keep the lights off at night so you can’t be seen. Other than the open bathroom viewing it’s a lovely place. I would not stay there again for lack of privacy.
