3. Room Quality

The 44 rooms, including 11 suites, are described as both comfortable and spacious, with a refined, understated decor. The design incorporates noble materials, thick fabrics, and powdery tones, creating a soothing atmosphere. Recurring motifs like sandbanks, soft lighting, and plant designs (such as dragonfly wallpaper) pay homage to the Loire. Amenities typically include a Smeg kettle, a coffee machine, local room fragrance, and a welcome bottle of water. Some rooms are duplexes with distinct sitting and sleeping areas, while others offer terraces and/or direct views of the Loire. Bathrooms feature gray and beige marble, heated floors, and quality bath products from local producers like Savonnerie des Muids and Maison Caulières.

4. Dining Experience

Fleur de Loire boasts an exceptional gastronomic offering with two restaurants under the direction of two Michelin-starred Chef Christophe Hay.

  • Christophe Hay (Gastronomic Restaurant): This restaurant, also awarded two Michelin stars, offers a serene and contemporary setting with an open kitchen. Chef Hay's cuisine is a lyrical and personal expression of the Loire terroir, focusing on eco-responsible practices and local ingredients, many from his own permaculture vegetable garden. Dishes are known for their lightness, flavor, and texture, showcasing Loire fish (caught by a dedicated local fisherman), Sologne caviar, and Wagyu beef from the chef's own farm. Tasting menus are available in various courses.
  • Amour Blanc: The hotel's more informal restaurant offers French classics prepared with fresh, seasonal local ingredients. It features panoramic views over Blois and also includes a pastry kiosk. Breakfast, often a buffet, is served here.

5. Service & Staff

Guest feedback consistently highlights the warm, efficient, and attentive nature of the hotel staff. 6. Location & Accessibility

Fleur de Loire enjoys an exceptional location on the left bank of the Loire River, within a historic 17th-century building that was formerly a hospice. It directly faces the historic center of Blois and its regal castle, offering spectacular views. The hotel is conveniently located for exploring the city's treasures and the numerous châteaux of the Loire Valley. Accessibility is good, with the Blois-Chambord train station about a 15-minute walk away. Paid, secure parking with electric charging stations is available on-site for guests.

7. Value & Pricing

As a luxury 5-star Relais & Châteaux property with a Michelin-starred chef, Fleur de Loire is positioned at a higher price point. Standard room rates can start from 175 EUR in the winter offseason and 275 EUR in the summer season, with Duplex Suites around 300 EUR and other suites ranging from 500 to 1000 EUR per night. While it is a significant investment, guests generally consider it to be worth the cost for the unique and luxurious experience it provides. Special perks like daily breakfast and food and beverage credits may be available through certain booking channels.

8. Common Complaints

While reviews are overwhelmingly positive, some minor criticisms have been noted:

  • Minor Bathroom Inconsistencies: Some guests mentioned a lack of hand soap in downstairs bathrooms of duplex suites or in spa locker rooms.
  • Duplex Room Design Quirks: In some duplex rooms, the shower design (hand wand only due to wall curvature) and the location of the toilet downstairs were noted as slightly awkward.
  • Spa Water Temperature: One review mentioned the jacuzzi water in the spa being cold.
  • Restaurant Service Speed: A guest experienced slow service at the restaurant, particularly for in-room breakfast, which took over an hour despite a 30-minute estimate.
  • Terrace Privacy: One guest who paid extra for a terrace found it overlooked the parking area with no privacy.
  • Window Functionality: Some rooms had windows that could not be fully opened for security reasons.

Fleur de Loire was a spectacular hotel. The entire staff was so welcoming. Thanks so much to the entire staff at the hotel. Axel was great and they would all make our nightly dinner reservations. Also. Tom, who was so pleasant and would drive us to the restaurants and pick us up afterwards. They catered to all our needs. The rooms are spacious and the bathroom very ample. Great hotel for the area, on the luxurious side of things, honestly stayed there to try the Michelin starred restaurant by Christopher Hay. Was very impressed, could not try spa due to recent fire.

Fleur de Loire is a modern, beautifully designed, and luxurious hotel. We stayed in the Prestige room, which was spacious, extremely comfortable, and spotless. While the room was excellent, the view of the Loire River is somewhat limited; for a better view, the Duplex Suite would likely be a better option. We traveled in April with our 6- and 3-year-old children. The hotel’s location is perfect f...

It was my first time traveling to Loire Valley and I had a wonderful experience, the rooms were clean, spacious and had a lovely view of the Loire River. The staff, service and food at all the restaurants were perfect! The pool and sauna was a great way to end the day after a long bike to Chambord. An overall impeccable experience.
