Value & Pricing

However, others have considered it a "5 star hotel at 4 star prices," suggesting good value for the level of quality and service provided. Typical room prices range from approximately £213 for a Classic Room to £294 for a Deluxe Room. A recurring comment regarding pricing is the perceived excessive markup on pre-dinner drinks, with one guest mentioning a 550% markup on beer and £10 for a single gin and tonic.

Common Complaints

Despite the overwhelmingly positive feedback, a few recurring criticisms have been noted:

  • Decor in public areas: Some guests have found certain public spaces, such as lounges, to be "not particularly warm and cosy," with "lots of beige spaces without much colour, lots of blank walls and sterile looking" areas that "needs warming up".
  • Drink pricing: The cost of alcoholic beverages, particularly pre-dinner drinks, has been a point of contention for some guests, who found the markup to be excessive.
  • Minor service lapses: Isolated incidents have been reported, such as a birthday recognition being delayed until after bedtime, or an incorrect drink order.
  • Room features: One guest wished for a small refrigerator in the room. Another disliked climbing steps to the bathroom in their room. Some also mentioned that being an original part of the home, room doors might allow sound to pass through.

We have just returned from a 3 day Christmas stay at Farlam Hall Hotel. The whole experience was superb. The hotel very clean and tasteful yet cosy. The staff were absolutely amazing and helpful and as for the food, Hrishikesh Desai the chef patron really worked his magic. The food and stay were faultless, and we were so well catered for as vegetarians. You really should visit this lovely place.

An absolutely perfect weekend break at Farlam Hall from the moment we were greeted on the drive nothing was too much trouble for the amazing staff on hand for whatever you may need. The food and the ambience are first class but without the care and conscientiousness of the staff it would be just another hotel and Farlam Hall is so much more. This was our second visit but will not be the last. Lots...

Beautiful location, stunning hotel with exceptional service and food. Foodie experience package was perfect short break. Delicious food, exciting new tastes, loved the lamb, Scallop, Skate and the bread pairings (chilli sculptured butter) calamansi and Ugandan Vanilla. Such skill blending flavours. Thank you for a warm friendly delightful stay.

Farlam Hall is a lovely hotel in a beautiful rural setting. It is very spacious with well kept grounds you can wander through. The staff are exceptional - very knowledgeable and attentive - and we really enjoyed the food. This is a hidden gem that we will be returning to regularly now that we have discovered it. Highly recommend.
