6. Location & Accessibility

Das Graseck is truly a "mountain hideaway," situated at 900 meters above sea level in a peaceful, secluded area above Garmisch-Partenkirchen, surrounded by meadows and forests. Its unique location at the foot of the Dreitorspitze in the Wetterstein mountain range, overlooking the famous Partnach Gorge, provides stunning natural beauty and a serene environment.

The hotel's accessibility is a key part of its unique charm: it is primarily reached by the hotel's own private cable car, the Graseckseilbahn. The scenic cable car journey takes approximately four minutes and operates from 07:00 to 22:00. Guests can park their cars at a designated lot at the valley station. While a road connection exists, the cable car ride is often cited as a memorable part of the experience. The location is also ideal for outdoor enthusiasts, with hiking and cycling paths starting directly from the property.

7. Value & Pricing

Many guests consider their stay at Das Graseck to be a great value for the price, given the high level of service, amenities, and the unique location. Pricing can fluctuate seasonally, with August generally being the cheapest month and December the most expensive. Room rates typically range from €340 for a basic room to €675 for a panoramic suite with a private sauna.

8. Common Complaints

While overwhelmingly positive, some minor points of criticism have been noted:

  • A few guests have expressed disappointment if their assigned room did not offer the highly-prized mountain views that many other rooms boast.
  • One review mentioned "lots of naked Germans in the spa," indicating a common European spa culture that might surprise some international guests.
  • The dining facilities generally close around 9-10 PM, and there isn't a "real bar" for late-night socializing, making it less suitable for "party people" seeking lively nightlife.
  • Finding the hotel's car park at the bottom of the gondola can sometimes be a bit challenging due to pedestrian traffic in the area.
  • Occasionally, the sauna area can become quite full.
  • It's worth noting that temporary construction for a new cable car mountain station in late 2023 was mentioned, which could have led to some noise pollution during that period.

We stayed 3 days at this Resort. Our overall experience is very good. The location is amazing, we were lucky to get also a snowfall and the view from our room was incredible. The breakfast is good but a bit limited compared to resorts of the same price level. The dinner was overall good, not excellent, what is absolutely unreceivable is to pay 6.40 Euro for a bottle of water of 75cl. The Hotel is ...

Nice stay, great spa and stunning setting. However the evening meal quality was poor and the bathroom arrangement in the rooms is just strange. There's no seperation between the bed and bathroom, and only a glass door seperating you from the sound and vision of that zone. It's a strange design choice. It's like what i would imagine it would be like to share a prison cell. As you'll see from the ...

The hotel is nothing too special, but nothing bad either. But the price tag that comes along with it, is way too high. The breakfast is nice, the dinners are okay. The restaurant staff is sometimes a bit too talkative for my taste, but others might like it. The saunas are too small and not open early enough. The room was okay but nothing special either, the cable car was in our case rather a reaso...

I spent a day-spa at Das Graseck and the place was wonderful and the spa was amazing. I decided to give two stars because the food is ridiculously expensive for the portions served. The amount of food was tiiiiiny and the quality was normal, not gourmet. Generally, in gourmet restaurants you can expect such a case, but honestly this is a point of improvement

A glorious experience! Bottom line, a luxurious and relaxing experience for individuals, couples, and friends. The staff is kind and accommodating, helpful ahead of arrival all the way through your stay. The parking and cable car experience is simple. We were welcomed with Prosecco on the gorgeous patio with a stunning Alps view. Our room was well appointed, and we booked specifically to take an ...
