Guests generally find the rooms comfortable and roomy, featuring private bathrooms with free toiletries, flat-screen TVs with cable channels, safety deposit boxes, and coffee machines. Some selected rooms also come with kitchenettes equipped with a fridge. While renovated rooms are described as modern, some older rooms are noted as cozy and clean. Some suites, like the Tower Suites, offer panoramic views and distinctive spiral staircases.

4. Dining Experience

The hotel offers exceptional dining experiences with its two on-site restaurants. Les Salons serves contemporary French classics with local and seasonal ingredients, some sourced from the estate's own gardens. Guests can enjoy dinner on the outdoor terrace when the weather permits. The bistro, Burgemeester Quicx, offers a more informal setting and serves as a modern coffeehouse, providing options for coffee, seasonal soups, and lunch. Buffet, à la carte, or continental breakfast options are available, often served in the winter garden. 7. Value & Pricing

While considered a luxury experience, the value for money at Château St. Gerlach receives a slightly lower rating of 7.9 out of 10. Some guests have noted the price to be "a bit steep compared to comparable locations in Germany, Belgium," and mentioned that certain aspects, like a small room or specific dining experiences, felt overpriced. For instance, a four-course dinner for two was noted at 195 Euros, with a comment that it felt like paying for presentation rather than food quantity. Breakfast is available for a surcharge, with a reported cost of 30 EUR per person per day. Parking costs €5 per day.

8. Common Complaints

Despite the overwhelmingly positive feedback, some recurring criticisms include:

  • Dining Value: As mentioned, some guests found the dining to be expensive for the portion sizes or limited in choice.
  • Room Location/Features: One guest reported being "upgraded" to a standard room that was overpriced and only accessible via two flights of stairs with no elevator in that section, making it inconvenient. Another mentioned pubic hairs and dirt in the bathtub upon arrival and a very small room for over 500 Euros per night.
  • Service Inconsistencies: While staff generally receive high praise, a few instances of perceived unprofessionalism or disorganization were noted, such as a mix-up with room bookings or incorrect billing for breakfast/drinks. Some felt the service level in the bar and breakfast area didn't quite match the expected standard for this type of hotel.
  • Noise from other guests: One review mentioned a barking dog for an extended period, which disturbed their stay.
  • Parking Inconvenience: One guest found parking inconvenient, especially in the rain, due to its distance from the hotel entry.
  • Staffing Shortages: One review mentioned long waits at check-in, check-out, and breakfast service due to being short-staffed.

Truly loved our stay here. The staff were so kind and friendly and the rooms and grounds were so beautiful. The spa was also so relaxing and had all you needed. The church attached to the property is the most beautiful i've ever seen and really hope to visit again in the spring/summer to see everything in bloom! Definitely a must visit if you are in the Maastricht area!

We went here as a present for our wedding and it was absolutely amazing. They upgraded us from a standard room to a suite (probably because they knew why we came) which was so lovely of them. Upon entering the suite there was a small bottle of champagne waiting for us from the house. The pool and spa was super relaxing and before we went to dinner in the restaurant we had amazing cocktails at the b...

Despite clearly stating multiple times that we are strict vegetarians, the restaurant served us the non-vegetarian tasting menu, including fish. We unknowingly ate it until we pushed for ingredient details, and only then did they admit the mistake. For lifelong vegetarians,...
