1. Overall Rating & Sentiment

The general consensus among guests is overwhelmingly positive, with many describing their stay as exceptional and truly memorable. The hotel is consistently praised for its stunning location, impeccable service, and unique, charming atmosphere. It is celebrated as a desirable destination that offers a relaxing and enchanting escape. The Michelin Guide awarded the property two keys, signifying an exceptional stay.

2. Key Highlights

Guests are particularly captivated by the hotel's stunning location high on a cliffside, providing panoramic and breathtaking views of the Mediterranean Sea, stretching from Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat to Monte Carlo and even Saint-Tropez. Exceptional service is a recurring theme, with staff often described as flawless and eager to please. The hotel's design, which integrates 45 rooms and suites into the historic medieval village, creates a unique ambiance. Other beloved highlights include the beautiful, clean environment, the enchanting multi-level private gardens adorned with intriguing animal sculptures, the outdoor heated pool with its spectacular vistas, and the acclaimed Michelin-starred restaurant.

3. Room Quality

The 45 rooms and suites at Château de la Chèvre d'Or are each distinct and decorated with elegant, classic interiors. Guests find the rooms charming, comfortable, and often spacious, though some reviews mention issues with room size. Many rooms boast luxurious marble bathrooms, some featuring deep jetted bathtubs and/or separate walk-in showers, with a few even designed with a unique cave-like aesthetic. Amenities typically include flat-screen TVs, minibars, Nespresso machines, kettles, and complimentary Wi-Fi. Higher-end suites offer additional luxuries such as private terraces or balconies, hot tubs, private pools, fireplaces, and separate living rooms, with views overlooking either the sea or the surrounding mountains. Robes and high-end Fragonard toiletries are also provided.

4. Dining Experience

Château de la Chèvre d'Or offers a diverse dining experience across four restaurants, all benefiting from panoramic sea views. The flagship La Chèvre d'Or restaurant holds two Michelin stars, renowned for its excellent, creative cooking, masterful technique, and talented pastry chef. Guests can indulge in dynamic cuisine featuring Mediterranean specialties, fresh seafood, and exquisite desserts. The property also features Le Café du Jardin, offering lighter lunches such as wood-oven pizza, grilled dishes, and salads overlooking the Mediterranean. The Bar du Chateau provides a unique setting with its medieval castle-style decor. Breakfast on the terrace comes highly recommended by guests. The wine cellars are extraordinary, housing around 29,000 bottles, with reasonable pricing for the quality offered.

5. Service & Staff

The service and staff at Château de la Chèvre d'Or consistently receive high praise. Guests frequently describe the hospitality as "impeccable," "perfect," "friendly," "helpful," "kind," and "eager to please". The team is noted for being professional and attentive without being overbearing. Valet and concierge services are particularly highlighted for their efficiency and helpfulness, assisting with reservations and ensuring guest comfort.

6. Location & Accessibility

The hotel's location within the medieval village of Eze, perched high on a cliffside between Nice and Monte Carlo, is a major draw, offering unparalleled views of the French Riviera. The village itself is charming, characterized by tiny nooks, crannies, and shops. While the location provides stunning vistas, guests should be prepared for numerous stairs and narrow walkways throughout the property and village due to its cliffside setting. Accessibility by car is facilitated by valet service, and Nice Cote d'Azur Airport is approximately a 35-minute drive away. The village can become crowded with tourists during late mornings and early afternoons, but it transforms into a magical, peaceful setting in the early mornings and evenings.

7. Value & Pricing

Château de la Chèvre d'Or is considered a luxury property, and its pricing reflects this exclusivity. While generally seen as pricey, many guests consider the experience to be well worth the cost. Prices fluctuate significantly based on the season, with July and September typically being the most expensive months, and April and May offering potentially cheaper rates. Average weeknight prices can hover around $1,385, while weekend nights might average around $961. Some guests utilize loyalty programs or credit card benefits to help offset the cost, such as room upgrades, daily breakfast, and experience credits.

8. Common Complaints

Despite the overwhelmingly positive feedback, some recurring criticisms have been noted. A few guests have mentioned that certain room sizes can be an issue. The property's location within the ancient medieval village, while charming, means navigating many stairs and narrow pathways, which may be challenging for some guests. Additionally, the village of Eze experiences significant tourist crowds from late morning through early afternoon, which can detract from the peaceful ambiance during those hours. Lastly, while the hotel's own restaurants are highly rated, the immediate village offers a somewhat limited choice of dining options beyond French or Niçoise cuisine.

This undoubtedly was one of the top hotels I have had the pleasure of staying at. It was a perfect solo getaway. My private pool and jacuzzi were exquisite. The managers and the staff are top tier. I could go on and on. I can not wait to return. Thank you for making my stay so special and perfect. Every hotel after has felt like I am in a slum, lol.

This resort is the crown jewel of Èze. If you love the charm of the village, imagine actually staying inside of it. Many of the rooms and suites are distributed throughout the medieval cobblestone streets, so you are fully immersed in the landscape. It feels like having a piece of the village all to your own. While day trippers can walk the public areas, as a guest, you gain exclusive access to t...

It felt like staying in a castle until you open the door to your room which was complete with all modern amenities including luxury towels and bathrobes. The staff was lovely, helpful and accommodating. The best French Riveira experience we could have asked for.

Beautiful rooms with spectacular views of the bay below set in a medieval village 1400 feet above the sea. The access from the entrance to the reception is spectacular and highly landscaped with numerous seating areas and fountains. The only drawbacks were the door to our room was not numbered or lighted at night. The alleys you take to get to room are not well marked and can be confusing to navig...
