2. Key Highlights

Guests consistently laud several aspects of Casa de Sierra Nevada:

  • Location: Its fantastic location, a quiet three-minute walk to the central square and the iconic Parroquia de San Miguel Arcángel, is a major draw. Everything in the city center, including shops, galleries, museums, and restaurants, is within walking distance.
  • Design & Ambiance: The property, comprising several former colonial mansions and a finca, is celebrated for its beautiful old Spanish colonial style and design. It seamlessly blends centuries-old stories with a vibrant contemporary scene, creating a sense of history and quiet elegance.
  • Service: The staff's personable, helpful, and friendly nature is frequently highlighted.
  • Food & Drink: The amazing food, particularly from the spectacular rooftop restaurant and the excellent Tunki Rooftop bar with views of the cathedral, receives high praise.
  • Amenities: Guests appreciate the serene pool area, the full-service Laja spa, and unique offerings like the Sazón cooking school that celebrates regional flavors. The hotel is also pet-friendly, with staff pampering furry companions with beds, bowls, and bottled water.

3. Room Quality

The 37 rooms and suites are spread across six colonial mansions, each uniquely designed while maintaining the original floor plans of the houses. Rooms are spacious, even the smallest ones, and suites are even larger. The design incorporates dark wood furniture, ornate woodwork, Mexican-tiled bathrooms, polished copper sinks, curved ceilings, stucco walls, and elaborately embroidered linens, creating a strong sense of place. A significant comfort feature is the functioning wood-burning fireplace in most accommodations, perfect for cooler evenings. Modern amenities like LCD televisions and Wi-Fi are integrated without detracting from the period feel. Deluxe Suites are noted for their ample bathrooms, some boasting bronze, freestanding bathtubs. Some Deluxe One Bedroom Suites also feature private plunge pools, offering modern luxury appointments within a classic decor.

4. Dining Experience

The hotel boasts two full-service restaurants and two bars. The service in all restaurants is described as outstanding. The rooftop bar, Tunki Rooftop by Handshake, is a popular spot, offering a chic environment for modern cocktails and priceless views of the cathedral and sunset. The food is consistently rated as amazing, with the rooftop restaurant in particular offering good food. The Sazón cooking school also highlights bold regional flavors, providing an immersive culinary experience.

Guests commend the staff for being personable, helpful, and friendly. 6. Location & Accessibility

The hotel's location is considered perfect, situated just a three-minute walk from the central square and the Parroquia de San Miguel Arcángel. This central position allows guests to easily walk to surrounding cobblestone streets filled with shops, galleries, museums, and restaurants. San Miguel de Allende itself is a walking city, making the hotel's accessibility to major attractions ideal. For arrivals, the hotel is approximately a 90-minute drive from Del Bajío International Airport and one hour from Querétaro International Airport.

7. Value & Pricing

Casa de Sierra Nevada is recognized as an expensive luxury hotel, with prices starting from approximately $525 to $595 per night, and averaging around $843-$847 for weeknights and weekend nights, respectively. Despite the cost, many guests unequivocally state that it is "absolutely worth it" due to the incredible property, amazing food, perfect location, and wonderful staff. April is typically the cheapest month to stay, while December sees prices rise significantly.

8. Common Complaints

While overwhelmingly positive, one minor complaint noted by a guest involved being advised to book restaurants and bars due to anticipated busyness, only to find them largely empty. This was attributed to instructions from Food & Beverage management, which the guest did not appreciate. Otherwise, recurring criticisms are notably absent, with many guests explicitly stating they had "no complaints."

I recently stayed at the Rosewood hotel up the road and had an amazing 5 day stay. It was possibly the best hotel stay I've ever had. Then I stupidly decided to try this so called 5 star hotel for another 2 more days.. In comparison this hotel seemed like a dingy motel rather than a luxury international 5 start hotel. While the staff were all polite and professional the actual premises is extremel...

Would give this place 10 stars if I could - the service, food, rooms are all perfect, and the staff always goes above and beyond. We had a minor medical emergency while in San Miguel, and the staff was so professional, connected us with doctors, and had the kitchen make special food for us. Octavio especially was incredible, and so kind.

We are big fans of the Belmond brand and were excited to stay at this property for the first time. Despite some struggles while here, management went avice and beyond in the customer service department at our departure that was not at all expected. Things happen, life is hard and these are first world problems here so suffice it to stay solid 5/5 stars and God bless you, Belmond, for your attentio...

Simply wow! Perfect venue for A&N’s intimate wedding we photographed here. The architecture gives a variety of spaces to “play with”: each courtyard, hallway, and room is a work of art…Pure magic. And lots of charming hidden corners, giving us countless gorgeous backdrops for photos. The location is also perfect - the Benito Juárez park is right in front of the hotel. That really helped with the ...

We recently hosted our wedding at Casa de Sierra Nevada, and it was nothing short of magical. From the moment we discovered the property, we were captivated by the lush greenery, florals, and authentic hacienda charm. The intimate setting at Casa Parque, one of the hotel’s historic houses, was perfect—luxurious, private, and beautifully convenient, with all parts of our wedding day flowing seamles...
