Expert Review: Brach Paris - Evok Collection
Brach Paris - Evok Collection, a Michelin Key One-Key property, stands out as a luxurious and stylish haven in the upscale 16th arrondissement of Paris. Designed by the renowned Philippe Starck, this hotel offers a unique blend of modern sophistication and eclectic design, drawing influences from the 1970s, Bauhaus, Dada, and Surrealism.
1. Overall Rating & Sentiment
Brach Paris consistently garners high praise, with an impressive overall rating of 9.0 out of 10 on platforms like Agoda, and a "Fabulous" 8.8/10 on TheFork for its restaurant. Verified MICHELIN Guide guests give it a 19.4/20, with high scores for rooms (19.5), cleanliness (20.0), and public spaces (19.3). Guests are generally very satisfied, appreciating the luxurious atmosphere, sophisticated design, and excellent service.
2. Key Highlights
Guests consistently love the hotel's distinctive design, extensive wellness facilities, and unique rooftop experience.
- Design & Ambience: Philippe Starck's design is a major draw, characterized by glossy wood paneling, leather, metal, vibrant patterns, and abundant mirrors, creating a sensual and unconventional aesthetic. The hotel has a "chic," "trendy," and "lively" ambience, attracting a cool crowd.
- Amenities: A significant highlight is the subterranean "Moroccan-esque Sports Club," featuring a 22-meter lap pool, a massive hot tub, a salt cave, steam room, and spa services including massages, facials, and body scrubs, along with Pilates and TRX classes. Some suites even boast private outdoor Norwegian hot tubs and stunning Eiffel Tower views. The rooftop garden is another unique feature, with a kitchen garden that supplies the restaurant, a jacuzzi, a barbecue, and even resident chickens, offering superb panoramic views of Paris.
- Service: Many guests commend the outstanding and friendly staff, noting their warmth and helpfulness from arrival.
3. Room Quality
The 59 rooms and suites at Brach Paris are described as spacious, impeccably designed, and exceedingly cozy. They shun minimalism, embracing a curated collection of art, quirky sculptures, and vintage novels. Rooms feature warm shades, tactile materials like wood and leather, floor-to-ceiling windows with blackout blinds, and plush, super comfortable beds with high-quality Brach-branded linens. Bathrooms are indulgent, with Carrera marble, large soaking tubs that can comfortably fit two, rain showers (some with an impressive four-meter drop), and his-and-hers marble sinks in larger accommodations. Suites offer particular luxury, with terraces providing 180-degree city views, often including the Eiffel Tower. Rooms are equipped with in-room audio systems and curated playlists.
4. Dining Experience
Brach Paris offers a distinguished dining experience focusing on Mediterranean cuisine with Levantine influences, executed with finesse by chef Adam Benthala.
- Restaurant Brach: Located on the ground floor, it's an open-kitchen Mediterranean restaurant serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The food quality is highly rated, with guests praising its excellence, creative touches, and delicious flavors. Vegetarian and vegan options are available.
- Breakfast & Brunch: Breakfast offers classic French options and is popular with both hotel guests and locals. The all-you-can-eat Sunday brunch is highly recommended and considered one of the best in Paris, combining luxury and authentic flavors, often accompanied by live music.
- Rooftop Bar & Pastry Shop: The hotel also features a bar, a pastry shop, and a rooftop lounge that can serve cocktails and dim sum during warmer months.
5. Service & Staff
The service at Brach Paris is consistently highlighted as "outstanding," "superb," and "very caring." Guests appreciate the warm and friendly welcome from the moment they arrive. Staff are described as attentive, helpful, and "good looking," often seen in bespoke Le Coq Sportif uniforms.
6. Location & Accessibility
Situated in the tranquil and upscale 16th arrondissement, Brach Paris offers a quiet, residential, and bourgeois neighborhood feel, appealing to those who wish to experience a different side of Paris away from the main tourist crowds.
- Nearby Attractions: It's conveniently located, about a 15-minute walk from the Trocadéro, offering unobstructed views of the Eiffel Tower. The Bois de Boulogne, a large public garden, is about a kilometer away, perfect for runners and picnickers. Other nearby attractions include the Musée Marmottan Monet Paris (650m), Fondation Louis Vuitton, and Palais de Tokyo.
- Transport: The Rue de la Pompe metro station (M9 line) is just 400 meters away, providing easy access to Trocadéro and other major attractions like the Champs-Élysées and the Louvre. Several other metro and RER train stations are also within close proximity, connecting guests to the wider Paris region and even Disneyland Paris.
7. Value & Pricing
While Brach Paris is a luxury 5-star hotel, many guests feel they receive good value for money, with an 8.0 rating in this category on Agoda. Room rates start from approximately €490 per night, including tax. The extensive facilities and high level of service contribute to this perception of value.
8. Common Complaints
While overall sentiment is highly positive, some recurring criticisms include:
- In-Room Amenities: A common complaint is the absence of kettles or coffee-making machines in the rooms. Guests need to request these from the concierge, which is seen as a basic expectation for a 5-star hotel.
- Rooftop Access in Winter: The rooftop bar and terrace may be closed during winter, which can be disappointing for guests expecting year-round access, especially given the price point.
- Noise in Restaurant: Some guests have noted that the restaurant's ambiance can be too noisy at times.
- Minor Room Details: Some reviews mention a lack of drawers in bedside furniture or the absence of double sinks in some bathrooms.
- Shared Facilities: The swimming pool and gym are reportedly open to outside members, which some guests feel detracts from the exclusivity expected of a luxury hotel.

The finest feature of the hotel is the staff. Outstanding service throughout: from front desk, concierge, room service, to the dining room. I would be remiss if I did not mention the meals my wife and I had were wonderful. Interior lobby and hallways clean and well decorated. Rooms were modern and very clean. Surrounding neighborhood safe and nice selection of shops.

You will be paying over 600 a nightfor just for an average room. The rooftop is apparently closed half the year, there only view you’ll get is to the street next door and the pool is in a musty basement however the employees were great

Although the room is beautiful and the hotel is rated five stars, the service was extremely poor and absolutely not worth the price. I was very disappointed by the level of service, and this will be my last stay at this hotel.
