Room Quality
The rooms at Borgo Canonica are housed within individually restored trulli, offering a distinctive and memorable stay. They are described as spacious, bright, comfortable, and finished to a high standard with "terrific bathrooms". The design is minimal, allowing the historic architecture of the trulli to be the focal point, blending centuries-old stone walls with modern fixtures and furnishings. Amenities typically include air-conditioning, flat-screen TVs, free Wifi, a minibar, and private bathrooms with rainfall showers and locally made, organic olive-oil toiletries. Some suites also feature a lounge area, a desk, and a private patio, enhancing the sense of a luxurious retreat.
Dining Experience
The dining experience at Borgo Canonica is highly regarded. The on-site restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with dinner often described as an "ambitiously gourmet affair" focused on locally sourced Puglian specialties. Menus change daily, featuring dishes like stracciatella cheese with garden vegetables, cuttlefish with chicory, or garlic, olive-oil, and fava-bean pasta, often paired with local primitivo wine. Breakfast is a "sumptuous buffet" offering fresh fruit, cheese, salami, various egg dishes, focaccia, and homemade cakes, with guests even encouraged to enjoy local burrata. Common Complaints
While overwhelmingly positive, a few minor points of feedback have been noted by guests. One review mentioned that loud large groups in the restaurant could detract from the dining experience for other guests. Another guest expressed a desire for in-room tea and coffee making facilities. Additionally, some rooms, particularly standard suites, might not include the private outdoor patio space that some guests anticipate. The remote location, while praised for its tranquility, means navigating narrow country roads, which one guest noted as a slight inconvenience.

I had a great experience with Borgo Canonica, even though I accidentally booked the wrong date and my reservation was technically non-refundable. Despite that, the team was incredibly understanding and kind, they promptly arranged a full reimbursement without any issues or requiring me to rebook. It’s rare to find that level of flexibility and customer care these days. I truly appreciate their ge...

Loved this hotel. It was so great it was hard to leave to explore Puglia. Breakfast and dinners were fabulous. The grounds of the property are so beautiful and relaxing. It’s quiet - but our kids were welcome and had a great time swimming in the pool. Prices were reasonable. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I hope to come back.

Staying in a trulli was a fun experience. Air conditioning could have worked better despite having it set as low as possible, and we did have a few insects in our room, yet I understand these are sometimes tradeoffs for staying in histor...
