Expert Review: Bohemia Suites
Bohemia Suites, Gran Canaria: A Michelin Key Selected Oasis of Style and Serenity
Bohemia Suites in Gran Canaria stands out as a sophisticated, adults-only boutique hotel, recognized with a Michelin Key for its exceptional qualities. Guests consistently praise its cutting-edge design, luxurious amenities, and above all, the unparalleled service provided by its attentive staff. It's an ideal retreat for those seeking peace, privacy, and a touch of bohemian luxury.
1. Overall Rating & Sentiment
The general consensus among guests is overwhelmingly positive, with many describing their stays as "incredible," "faultless," and "exceptional." The hotel consistently receives high ratings for its cleanliness, facilities, and the outstanding friendliness of its staff. While noted as being on the pricier side for drinks, guests often feel the overall experience justifies the cost.
2. Key Highlights
- Service & Staff: This is perhaps the most celebrated aspect, with numerous reviews highlighting the staff's kindness, attentiveness, and professionalism. Guests often feel pampered and genuinely cared for, noting their helpfulness in all aspects of the stay.
- Design & Ambiance: The hotel's design is consistently lauded as spectacular, bold, quirky, and modern, with great attention to detail. Vibrant furnishings, creative lighting, and a tranquil, sophisticated atmosphere define the spaces.
- Amenities: Key amenities include two freshwater pools (one with underwater music), a stunning full-service El Siam Spa with 11 treatment rooms, a well-equipped fitness center, and private parking. The exclusivity of the spa, sometimes available for private bookings, is also a highlight.
- Location & Views: The rooftop 360° Restaurant and Lounge Bar offers breathtaking panoramic views of the Maspalomas dunes, Playa del Inglés, and the Atlantic Ocean, making it a prime spot for dining and sundowners.
3. Room Quality
The rooms are described as well-appointed, nicely furnished, and designed with a blend of luxury and high-tech features. Many rooms boast ocean views and feature comfortable, large beds with pillow-top mattresses. Balconies often come equipped with double sunbeds and armchairs. In-room technology includes iMacs and Apple TVs with free Wi-Fi and movies. While rainfall showers are a feature, some guests note that bathrooms can be small in most rooms. Some suites offer freestanding clawfoot tubs with mountain views. Minor criticisms include a lack of drawers for small items and some finding the bright bedroom decor a bit overwhelming. Some guests also mentioned issues with air conditioning only blowing cold air and a lack of daily toiletries or minibars in some rooms, which was surprising for a 5-star property.
4. Dining Experience
The dining experience at Bohemia Suites is highly praised, particularly at the 360° Restaurant on the eighth floor.
- Breakfast: Served with incredible views, breakfast is a highlight, offering a comprehensive buffet and cooked-to-order options, including fresh juices and delicious homemade preserves.
- Dinner: The 360° Restaurant offers haute cuisine with a Mediterranean menu influenced by French and Asian flavors, including a tasting menu option. Guests on half-board generally found the food quality excellent, though some noted limited choices for extended stays. The Sapphire Pool Bar also offers high-quality lunch options. Gluten-free options are readily available and highly regarded.
5. Service & Staff
The staff at Bohemia Suites consistently receives glowing reviews. They are described as "top-notch," "very friendly," "attentive," "helpful," and "professional." Guests appreciate their genuine warmth and willingness to go the extra mile to ensure a pleasant stay, even assisting with special requests like organizing birthday surprises. The "human team" is frequently commended for being young, dynamic, and affectionate with guests.
6. Location & Accessibility
The hotel is situated in a quiet area of Playa del Inglés, approximately 200-215 yards from the beach, which is a 5-10 minute walk. While the immediate surrounding area might be densely populated, the hotel itself offers a serene escape. It is also conveniently located about 0.7 km from the Yumbo Centre and offers private parking at no additional cost. The walk to the beach may involve stairs, which could be strenuous for some.
7. Value & Pricing
While the Bohemia Suites is considered a luxury property, many guests feel it offers solid value, especially considering its numerous on-site facilities and included breakfast and Wi-Fi. The price of drinks, however, is frequently mentioned as being excessive. As an example, a one-night stay for two adults on January 29, 2026, started from $413.91, excluding taxes and fees.
8. Common Complaints
Despite the overwhelmingly positive feedback, some recurring criticisms include:
- Drink Prices: The cost of drinks at the hotel bars and restaurants is frequently cited as excessive.
- Spa Access: While the spa is highly praised, some guests found the exclusive, paid access disappointing.
- Room Issues: Occasional complaints include small bathrooms in most rooms, a lack of drawers, and some finding the bright decor a bit overwhelming. Issues with air conditioning only blowing cold air and a lack of daily toiletries or minibars in some 5-star rooms were also mentioned.
- Half-Board Menu Variety: For longer stays (e.g., more than a week), some half-board guests found the dinner menu choices limited.
- Spa and Fitness Room Condition: One review noted the spa and fitness room were in need of renovation and not entirely up to 5-star standards.
- Restaurant Staff Attire: One guest found the restaurant staff's attire unprofessional, not matching the expected level of service.
- Noise by the Pool: The level of music around the pool was occasionally mentioned as making relaxation or reading difficult.

5th time here and it still delivers. Rooms comfortable, lovely heated pool, great breakfast served late, and the same super friendly staff. Gym refresh is also welcome, but if you could improve one thing… please play the same music around the pool and at the pool bar! - there’s sun loungers we can’t use because the clash of two songs is too annoying and not at all relaxing!

The service and friendliness of the staff are excellent and clearly the hotel’s strongest point. The breakfast buffet is also very good, with high-quality products, although à-la-carte items often take a long time to be ordered and arrive. Unfortunately, the price–performance ratio does not meet a 5-star standard. The rooms are rather small, oddly designed, and at night many illuminated switches ...

I do not feel that it should be called suites and spa, perhaps they use to have a true spa, however it is one person who is contracted outside of the hotel that has a small room, you cannot have treatments at the same time as another person (which they do not tell you until you show up). Then the actual spa circuit is now private which you must pay for additionally. When you do, you will find that...

We had a lovely 7 days at the Bohemia. The hotel has been extremely well designed, a little quirky in a very pleasant way. The highlights were the pleasantness of all the staff. We stayed half-board which was brilliant. The food in the 360° Restaurant was excellent. Plenty of choice and all prepared to very high standards. The serving staff were really good and not over attentive but there when ne...

I booked this place for a quick getaway as a solo traveller. Check-in was easy but the doors to the room were very heavy so I thought I was locked out (you need a good push). My room was relatively small but as I was alone it was okay, I can imagine two people may trip over each other if shared. There were Molton Brown products available in the bathroom: shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, body lo...
