  • Wellness Area: The cozy "bathhouse" spa, featuring a panorama sauna, steam room, and relaxation room with a fireplace and mountain views, is highly appreciated for its quiet and relaxed atmosphere.

3. Room Quality

Alpenloge Hotel offers a limited number of nine individually designed rooms: one double room, six junior suites, and two full suites. Each room is unique, with some featuring balconies or terraces that offer splendid views. Rooms are spacious, clean, and exude sophistication with elegant furnishings and plush bedding.

  • Comfort: Beds are high-quality, King-size (e.g., 2m x 2m or 1.8m x 2.10m) from the renowned German manufacturer Schramm Manufaktur, often described as wonderfully comfortable with topper pads.
  • Design: Interiors combine clear lines, concrete style, and delicate color arrangements, often featuring wood finishings and natural tones. The owners invested in high-quality European furnishings, including chairs from Danish brands.
  • Amenities: All rooms include a flat-screen TV, Nespresso machine, tea-making kit, bathrobes, slippers, free bottled water, and all-natural Metzler bath products. Some larger suites (Loge 6, 7, 8, 9) also feature a kitchenette, and select rooms may have a cozy fireplace. Barrier-free rooms are available.

4. Dining Experience

The hotel's dining experience is a significant highlight, especially for a Michelin Key property.

  • Breakfast: Rates include a delicious and abundant breakfast, described as a "multi-layer platter" with homemade, regional, and organic products. This typically includes Alpine smoked meats, cheeses, butter, bakery loaves with homemade marmalade, hand-picked fruit, eggs cooked to order, smoothies, and à la carte dishes.
  • Dinner: The on-site restaurant, exclusive to hotel guests, offers a daily-changing 3- or 4-course fine-dining menu created by Chef Mark Beastall. Chef Beastall is known for his modern, experimental style, focusing on seasonal and local ingredients, some sourced directly from the hotel's kitchen garden or nearby regional producers (e.g., local veal, fish from Lake Constance). Vegetarian options are also available.
  • Restaurant Schedule: The restaurant is closed on Thursdays and Sundays, encouraging guests to explore local cuisine in the surrounding area.

  • Perceived Value: Many guests feel that the quality and experience "definitely matches the price". The attention to detail, personalized service, and fine dining contribute to this perception of value.

  • Additional Costs: Local tourist tax (EUR 2.20/night per adult, EUR 0.70/night per child 8-15 years) and extra bed charges (EUR 90-120/night depending on age) apply.

8. Common Complaints

While reviews are overwhelmingly positive, some minor points or considerations for potential guests include:

  • Price: As mentioned, the price point can be a deterrent for some, who find it high despite the quality.

Wonderful! An absolutely wonderful hotel with a kind and service-minded staff. The view towards the Alps is stunning, the rooms are immensely tastefully decorated (each individually so), the wellness room has all you need—including a view of the Alps—and, finally, there's a Michelin-class kitchen run by British chef Mark Beastall. Nothing but my unreserved recommendations.

This is a very special place to stay and I only wish we had booked for longer, 3 nights definitely wasn't enough. The owners have created an extremely stylish and welcoming place to stay. We had a fabulous room (No. 8) that was spacious and chic, with stunning views over the valley. The hotel has a restaurant and spa (for guests only) and we tried both. The restaurant, overseen by head chef, M...
