8. Common Complaints

While overwhelmingly positive, some minor criticisms have been noted:

  • Price: Some guests felt the prices per night were "too high for what you get", although many still considered it worthwhile for the experience.
  • Parking Distance: The parking lot can be a "bit of a walk in the wind and rain" from some rooms due to its location on the other side of the spa area.
  • Dining Setup: The shared long dining table in the restaurant "may not suit everyone".
  • Bed Comfort: One review mentioned the bed being "too soft" for their preference.
  • No Elevators: The property does not have elevators.
  • Past Refurbishments: The hotel was undergoing refurbishments, including a new spa and additional rooms, until autumn 2025. As of early 2026, this should be complete, but it was a limiting factor for some previous guests.
  • Limited Nightlife: The hotel's secluded location means there is no local nightlife beyond stargazing.

"My experience at this hotel was unfortunately very disappointing. When we arrived, we found that the air conditioner in the room was broken, and despite informing the staff several times, nothing was repaired and no alternative solution was offered. This made the stay very uncomfortable, especially considering the heat. I also noticed a lack of honesty between what was advertised and what we actu...

Loved this hotel. Travelled as a family of five at the beginning of December and we were delighted. Rooms were well appointed and comfortable. The food was absolutely exceptional. We were lucky enough to have plenty of snow, to experience frozen waterfalls, underground caves, vik and the black sand beach with snow all over it, and to see the northern lights. What an amazing trip!

We stayed for three nights and left not thinking it was nearly enough. It was, without hesitation, the best hotel experience of my life. The hotel is small, only about 14 rooms. And the rooms are luxurious. You become acquainted with the others guests and those interactions are a lot of fun. Dinner is amazing with some of the best seafood and Lamb I have ever had. The morning fare is equally...

We had a really lovely and special stay here. The owners make it feel quite familiar here and the atmosphere is very relaxed. The views are absolutely beautiful and the windows are squeaky clean so you can enjoy it. The food that is prepared here is spectacular! I didn’t expect that. The best thing about this hotel are of course the dogs. They are just so sweet. Tina, the black one, greeted us on ...

The best place we staying in Iceland! The hotel is small and cozy. The design of the interior is sensational. Most of the art is original art by the owner's father. The views are incredible. You sit on a hill and can see forever. The rooms are awesome with great beds and bathrooms. We had dinner both nights and each was outstanding. Breakfast was also fantastic. The facilities were great and you c...

What a fabulous place! The owners were so friendly, the rooms were spacious and the whole decor of the place is just ,wow!! . The common areas were so cool and the dinner was out of this world. The breakfast buffet was very good. One of the best breakfasts we’ve had in our 13 days in Iceland. Every detail of this place was magical, down to the dishes and little serving pieces that were used for...
