Zannier Omaanda: A Two-Key Michelin Experience in the Namibian Savannah
Zannier Omaanda, a distinguished Two-Key Michelin property nestled near Windhoek, Namibia, offers guests an exceptional and authentic luxury safari lodge experience that seamlessly blends understated elegance with a deep commitment to wildlife conservation. Praised for its unique design, personalized service, and immersive natural setting, it stands out as a top-tier destination for those seeking both adventure and tranquility.
1. Overall Rating & Sentiment
Zannier Omaanda consistently garners exceptional reviews, with guests frequently describing their stays as "perfect," "unique," "beautiful," and "luxurious." The general sentiment highlights a deeply relaxing and soothing atmosphere, underscored by the stunning 360-degree views of untouched Namibian landscape. It's widely considered a soberly luxurious and unique safari lodge that offers an exquisitely peaceful sojourn.
2. Key Highlights
Guests love Omaanda most for its profound connection to nature and its significant conservation efforts. Key highlights include:
- Wildlife Conservancy: The lodge is set within the Zannier Reserve, a 22,000-acre (9,000-hectare) private wildlife conservancy managed in partnership with the N/a'an ku sê Foundation. This partnership provides a safe haven and "second chance" for injured, orphaned, and conflict animals, allowing guests to witness conservation firsthand through activities like rhino tracking, elephant encounters, and big cat sightings.
- Authentic Design: The lodge's architecture pays tribute to traditional Owambo design, featuring round clay huts with thatched roofs and earthy tones that blend seamlessly with the natural surroundings. This rustic yet refined aesthetic creates a welcoming and relaxing ambiance.
- Intimate Safari Experience: Guests can enjoy private and intimate conservation drives in state-of-the-art Land Cruisers, often spotting diverse wildlife such as rhinos, elephants, giraffes, cheetahs, and various antelopes.
- Exceptional Service: The staff's friendliness, attentiveness, and professionalism are consistently praised, contributing significantly to the overall positive experience.
- Proximity to Airport: Its convenient location, just 30-45 minutes from Windhoek's Hosea Kutako International Airport, makes it an ideal starting or ending point for a Namibian safari. Complimentary airport transfers are often included in all-inclusive rates.
3. Room Quality
The accommodation consists of ten comfortable, round huts (including two family huts), designed to reflect traditional Owambo architecture. Rooms are luxuriously spacious, featuring clay walls and thatched roofs, combined with modern luxuries.
Each hut offers:
- A king-size bed (twin configurations available).
- A bathroom with a walk-in shower, double sink, separate toilet, and a large bathtub, often with a view of the savannah.
- A walk-in dressing room.
- An open fireplace, adding a cozy, intimate touch.
- Large, unobstructed picture windows that frame the sprawling savannah views, inviting nature indoors.
- Amenities like a flat-screen television, free WiFi, an integrated sound system, a safe, minibar, Nespresso coffee machine, and air conditioning.
- A private sun terrace for unwinding and wildlife viewing.
The decor is calming and soothing, utilizing neutral tones and earthy textures.
4. Dining Experience
The dining experience at Zannier Omaanda is a culinary highlight, focusing on local, sustainable produce and often featuring live cooking.
- Restaurant (Ambo Delights): The sole restaurant, Ambo Delights, offers delicious cuisine inspired by local products in a welcoming setting with an enormous open fire. It features a blend of local and international flavors.
- Breakfast: A beautifully presented à la carte breakfast is served daily, with a wide selection including fresh juices, fruits, baked breads, granola, health bowls, pancakes, waffles, and savory dishes like eggs, bacon, and sausages. A light breakfast buffet is available for early risers upon request.
- Lunch: Typically consists of mezze-style sharing plates, copious salads, and homemade breads.
- Dinner: A multi-course culinary discovery of Namibia, with four courses celebrating local, seasonal produce, including game meat, fresh fish, and vegetarian dishes, often led by a Namibian chef.
- Bars: There's a poolside bar serving refreshing drinks and light bites, and a lounge bar with a large "Boma" (fireplace) for sharing stories and stargazing.
- Room Service: 24-hour room service is available, allowing guests to dine in the comfort of their huts.
- Dietary Accommodations: The culinary team is highly accommodating to specific dietary requirements.
5. Service & Staff
Guest feedback consistently praises the staff and service at Zannier Omaanda as "outstanding," "incredibly friendly," "attentive," and "professional." Guests highlight the warm welcome, genuine smiles, and helpfulness of the team. There is a clear indication of excellent training, with staff members like Gideon in the spa receiving specific commendations. They are known for providing personalized touches, such as lighting the fireplace in guest huts. The lodge also employs multi-lingual staff.
6. Location & Accessibility
Zannier Omaanda is strategically located within the Zannier Reserve, a 22,000-acre private wildlife conservancy, approximately 30-45 minutes' drive from Windhoek and 30 minutes from Hosea Kutako International Airport (WDH). This makes it incredibly accessible for international travelers, serving as an ideal first or last stop on a Namibian itinerary.
While close to the capital, the lodge feels completely off-grid, immersed in the quiet savannahs of central Namibia. The private reserve offers abundant wildlife viewing opportunities right outside the huts and during guided game drives and conservation excursions. Activities such as animal encounters, bird watching, hiking, and rhino tracking are available.
7. Value & Pricing
Zannier Omaanda is a luxury property, and its pricing reflects the high-end, all-inclusive nature of the experience. As of February 2026, prices for a 1-night stay for two adults start from approximately $809.49, excluding taxes and fees.
Rates typically include:
- Accommodation.
- Breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
- Non-alcoholic beverages.
- Select alcoholic drinks (excluding champagne and premium spirits).
- Return transfers to Windhoek Airport (may be non-private).
- A group conservation drive or a 60-minute spa treatment (for adults, in all-inclusive rates).
Guests generally find the experience to be worth the cost, praising the unique offerings and overall luxury. The lowest rates are typically found from December to April.
8. Common Complaints
While overwhelmingly positive, a minor recurring point mentioned by some guests is the long walking distances from the main lodge to some of the rooms. Guests with mobility concerns are advised to inquire about reserving a hut closer to the main lodge. Additionally, the lodge's layout and wild terrain mean it is not well-suited for wheelchairs. It is also important to note that children 5 years old and younger are not permitted, with a minimum age of 6 or 12 years cited in some sources, depending on the rate plan. The game viewing, while excellent, may not yet match the sheer abundance of animals found in a larger national park like Etosha, though the conservation project aims to grow the animal population over time.

Our one night included a game drive on which we saw elephants, white rhinos, giraffes, jackals, kudu, impala and more. A great safari sort of experience although not as “wild” as one may hope. Food was average. Gin bar by pool is a better option than offered mealt...
