Expert Review: The Warehouse Hotel
The Warehouse Hotel, a Michelin Key Selected property in Singapore, offers a unique and highly praised boutique luxury experience, expertly blending its rich industrial heritage with contemporary design and exceptional service.
Overall Rating & Sentiment
The general consensus for The Warehouse Hotel is overwhelmingly positive, with guests frequently lauding it as a standout boutique hotel in Singapore. It consistently receives high ratings for its location, cleanliness, comfort, and staff performance. The hotel is described as a "beautifully designed boutique hotel" with a "unique aesthetic" that delivers an "unparalleled" experience. While individual experiences may vary, the overall sentiment points towards a memorable and luxurious stay, with some reviews rating the overall experience as 19.6 out of 20.
Key Highlights
Guests consistently love the hotel's sophisticated design, intimate 5-star service, and vibrant atmosphere.
- Design: The hotel is praised for its "sophisticated, tasteful interior design throughout". It seamlessly integrates the original 1800s warehouse features with modern elements, creating a "well-balanced look that contrasts the raw industrial decor with cozy design furniture and warm finishes". The lobby, with its high ceilings, mood lighting, and exposed beams, is frequently highlighted as a work of art and a beautiful, impressive space.
- Service: The service is consistently described as "excellent" and "exemplary," with staff going "above and beyond" to assist guests. Personalized touches, such as providing extra water bottles or accommodating special requests, are frequently mentioned.
- Location: Its prime location on the banks of the Singapore River in Robertson Quay is a significant draw, offering easy access to dining, shopping, and major attractions.
- Amenities: The rooftop infinity pool, with its glass design and river views, is a popular feature, providing a relaxing retreat. The lobby bar is also a key highlight, known for its delicious craft cocktails and lively energy.
Room Quality
The rooms at The Warehouse Hotel are characterized by their modern design, comfort, and unique configurations. Adapted to the century-old shell, many rooms feature a loft-style layout with high ceilings and original warehouse beams, contributing to a sense of space and historical charm. While visually spare and muted in color, they are warmed by rich textures and heritage materials.
Guests appreciate the large, comfortable king beds with quality linens and pillows. Bathrooms are generally generously sized, featuring rain showers and high-quality local products from Ashley & Co. Complimentary artisanal loose leaf tea, drip coffee bags, and filtered drinking water in reusable glass bottles are also noted. Some rooms include a large soaking tub. A unique "rack of vices" mini-bar, playing on the building's past, offers a curated selection of snacks, adult "playthings," tiger balm, and mosquito repellent. Soundproofing in the rooms is excellent, ensuring a quiet stay despite proximity to busy areas.
It's important to note that room sizes and layouts vary significantly even within the same category due to the building's historical structure. Some entry-level "Sanctuary" rooms may have small windows or no windows at all, leading to a darker ambiance.
Dining Experience
The hotel's signature restaurant, Po, receives high praise for its refined modern Singaporean cuisine, inspired by nostalgic comfort food. Breakfast at Po is a highlight for many, offering a free-flow à la carte menu alongside a continental buffet, cold-pressed juices, and fresh coconut water. Dishes like the deep-flavored herbal pork bone broth and fluffy pancakes are particularly enjoyed. The Popiah and Barramundi are also popular choices. The lobby bar is celebrated for its excellent craft cocktails and vibrant atmosphere.
Service & Staff
The service at The Warehouse Hotel is consistently rated as exceptional. Staff are described as "well-trained, friendly, nice and super helpful". Guests frequently mention the staff's willingness to "go above and beyond," from efficient check-in processes to accommodating special requests like extra water or assistance with transportation. While one review noted purely functional interactions with staff, the overall feedback emphasizes a personalized and attentive hospitality experience.
Location & Accessibility
The Warehouse Hotel boasts an excellent location on the banks of the Singapore River in Robertson Quay. This area is described as a central hub for shopping and dining, known for its intimate restaurants and proximity to hawker fare. The hotel offers easy access to various parts of the city, being a short taxi ride (5-10 minutes) or a 20-30 minute walk from areas like Fullerton Bay and Marina Bay Sands. It is also within walking distance along a pedestrian/cycling path to the Marina Bay area. Chinatown MRT Station is less than a 10-minute stroll away. The airport is approximately a 30-minute taxi ride, making it convenient for travelers. The hotel also loans out bicycles for guests to explore the area.
Value & Pricing
The Warehouse Hotel is considered a premium property, with average room prices typically ranging from $301 to $350 per night. This is notably higher than the average hotel room price in Singapore ($151-$200), reflecting the hotel's unique aesthetic, personalized service, and prime location. While on the higher end, many guests find the experience it offers to be "unparalleled" and a "worthy investment" for a memorable stay, justifying the cost. It is often seen as a good choice for travelers who appreciate great design and are looking for a luxurious boutique experience.
Common Complaints
While largely positive, some recurring criticisms and issues include:
- Room Lighting/Darkness: Some guests found certain rooms, particularly entry-level ones or those with small or no windows, to be dark and brooding due to the dark color themes and limited natural light.
- Privacy in Ground Floor Rooms: For ground floor rooms, a lack of privacy can be an issue when curtains are open, as the public promenade offers a direct view into the room.
- Limited Facilities: Beyond the rooftop pool and restaurant, the hotel has limited additional facilities, with no gym on the property.
- Breakfast Variety/Quality Inconsistencies: While generally praised, one guest reported finding eggshells in their English breakfast.
- Cleanliness Issues: Isolated reports mention damp and stained shower areas, as well as brown spots and specks in the reusable drinking water bottles.
- Lobby Music Volume: The thumping music from the lobby bar can be audible in some rooms until late at night, which might be a concern for light sleepers.
- No Automatic Turndown Service: Turndown service is not automatically provided, with guests instructed to leave trash and utensils outside their rooms after 6 PM.

Amazing little gem of a hotel in a reclaimed old warehouse by the river. Super stylish interiors and hotel bar, well decorated rooms, fantastic service. It's just a bit of a walk to the popular Marina sights but I personally don't mind. Special shout out to the restaurant and staff for preparing one of the most delicious meals I've had during my trip! Do they the Poppia when you're there :)

Very nice and friendly service, always clean. A little bit too dark at the room and lobby, because of few lamps. Location of the hotel is nice. Located at the small river it gives the opportunity to walk on the side of the canal to the big sights. Restaurant and bar at the hotel are top! I recommend the warehouse hotel for 100% and will stay here again when in Singapore!
