The Malabar Hotel is a beautiful heritage property, rich in art and history. We stayed for three nights and everything was pleasant until the second-to-last day, when the receptionist/manager began hounding us to complete the final payment ahead of checkout a highly unprofessional move, especially for a hotel charging exorbitant, inflated rates due to the Biennale. Any decent five-star establishme...

A very charming restored colonial building for our short stay, the decor and rooms are filled with local art pieces. We stayed 2 nights and also had breakfast and dinner there. The room was charming - bed was comfortable, but a slightly awkward high bed frame to get in and out of, and bathroom was big, water pressure could have been a bit stronger though. The hotel was really great in helping wi...

Where do I begin? It's a beautiful building in the perfect location, and it could have been an excellent choice for our 24-26 December stay. But...the wheels fell off pretty quickly! All of the rooms are windowless (it's how it is designed), and while beautiful, they feel cold and lack cosiness. I was there with my sister, so we had a twin room, the beds were comfortable, but narrow. We were booke...

Double the price- half the quality. After 3 weeks in Sri Lanka and Kerala this "fine dining" experienced was the most dull of all meals I had- including the one for the 10th of the price. We had six daft plates - all overcokked and underdelivered. The blue cheese polenta had a thick layer of some white non. cheesy pudding over it and the seabass was overcooked and half the size of what my fiends h...

We went to have dinner at Malabar House, this evening. They told us that we would get a table in 30 minutes, at 8.30pm. We reconfirmed it with the staff after waiting for 5-10 minutes. We were waiting in the lobby, amidst mosquitoes. When I went to ask them at 8.25pm, I was informed that no table was available. This is extremely unprofessional and represents very poor quality of service.

If you want to stay in Fort Kochi, the location can’t get better than this. The staff is sweet. Bear in mind that the property is old and doesn’t offer much by itself. So it’s not really value for money except for the location.
