While the serene location is a major draw, some guests note that the resort is in a "ulu" (remote) area, and some roads leading to it may lack streetlights and have potholes, potentially making nighttime driving challenging. Many reviews suggest the cost is "worth the spend" for a truly relaxing and memorable getaway.
8. Common Complaints
Despite the overwhelmingly positive feedback, a few recurring issues or criticisms have been noted by guests:
- Maintenance & Cleanliness: Some reviews suggest that certain areas of the property could benefit from more maintenance and upkeep, with occasional mentions of noticeable smells in bathrooms or dust in corners.
- Unheated Pools: The main infinity pool is unheated, which can be less comfortable during Khao Yai's cooler seasons. Additionally, some guests noted a lack of staff available to serve drinks or food directly at the main pool.
- Remote Location Access: While loved for its seclusion, the hotel's remote access, particularly unlit roads with potholes, can be a concern for guests driving at night.
- Limited On-site Activities: Some guests observed a limited number of activities directly within the hotel premises.
- Hot Water Issues: There have been isolated reports of issues with hot water in some rooms.
- Insects: Given its natural, forested surroundings, guests should expect the presence of insects, though rooms are equipped with screen doors.
- BBQ Quality: While overall dining is highly praised, the in-villa BBQ food quality was occasionally described as average.
Overall, sala khaoyai offers an exceptional luxury retreat, distinguished by its stunning design, serene hilltop setting, and highly praised service, making it a truly memorable destination in Khao Yai.

I had a wonderful stay at Sala Khao Yai in the Pool Villa Onsen room. The room was absolutely stunning—clean, spacious, and well-equipped i.e. umbrellas and slippers to wear indoors, to comfortable sandals for outdoor areas like the lawn, swimming pool, and onsen tub including bath salts for free. The edgeless swimming pool is a must—it offers an incredible view with the pool blending seamlessly i...

We stayed at Sala Khao Yai for a midweek escape and absolutely loved the peace and quiet. Walking to the infinity pool was a highlight — serene, uncrowded, and with beautiful views over the surrounding mountains. The staff were excellent and attentive. We have spent 5 nights at the Sala. The One bedroom Villa Onsen Suite with private pool was impressive in terms of design and coziness. Staff service and attentiveness as well as food quality was outstanding. We clearly recommend having a private barbecue on the rooftop during sunset, do also not miss having a swim at the huge secluded infinity pool.

The architecture and interior design is beautifully made, the food is quite delicious although is quite pricy for Thailand. The good surprise is that the meat is Halal. Staff is really nice but English is q...

Overall, the villa we stayed in (Sala Pool Villa Onsen - Sky 8) appears slightly aged, yet it remains beautiful—especially the view. The view from our villa was absolutely stunning and truly one of the highlights of our stay.
