- Best Time to Book: Cheapest deals can generally be found in August and September, with Sunday and Wednesday often being the best days for room deals.
8. Common Complaints
While largely positive, some recurring criticisms and issues have been noted by guests:
- Seaweed on the Beach: Despite diligent efforts by staff to clean it, seaweed (sargassum) debris on the beach can be an issue, particularly at certain times of the year, leading some to suggest other hotels might cater better to those seeking an ultra-wide, pristine beach.
- Food Pricing vs. Value: While generally good, some guests have found the food to be a bit underwhelming for the price, describing some dishes as "bland" or "overly greasy and under seasoned."
- Crowding at Peak Times: During high occupancy, some areas like the family pool, adults-only beach club, and restaurants can feel crowded, and reservations for dining, spa, and activities may book up quickly.
- Lagoon Water Quality: In some instances, particularly after heavy rain or when water levels drop, the lagoon water has been described as having scum or an unpleasant smell.
- Spa Pool Cleanliness: One review mentioned the spa pool being dirty with debris and scum.
- Slow Dinner Service: Some guests have experienced slow dinner service and delays in seating, even with reservations.
- "American Vibe": One review noted a prevalent "American vibe" in some resort areas, including loud music and communal dining, which may not appeal to all guests.
- Limited Spa Menu: The spa treatment menu was noted by one guest as being quite limited, with the shortest massage being 90 minutes.

My wife and I have been to many resorts and this one is the BEST experience in Mexico. 10 out of 10 in all categories. Vibes, personal service, amenities. Total relaxation and enjoyed every moment!! Our butler, Walter, Natalie, and Angel made our stay seamless and we appreciate their service. Would love to come back soon!

I traveled here for a group 40th birthday trip with my girlfriends. The moment we arrived, we were absolutely spoiled and pampered. Every meal was exquisite. We enjoyed the gym, sauna, cold plunge and pool every day. There were so many thoughtful touches. I want to give a huge shoutout to Cynthia, our guest experience manager who wrote us the sweetest card and gifted us a bottle of bubbly. Jerry, ...

The property itself is stunning — the rooms, the amenities, and the overall environment are exactly what you’d expect from Rosewood. However, as frequent Rosewood guests, we’ve come to expect a very specific level of service that consistently sets the brand apart. Unfortunately, this location fell short of that standard. Check-in, arrival and our butler service were flawless. But beyond that, th...

YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED! My husband and I agreed that this was the best vacation experiences we've had (and we've been fortunate to have many). We had been to Cancun but not to Playa del Carmen. We loved the Rosewood Kona (see my review), so someone suggested Rosewood Mayakoba. The drive from the Cancun airport to the hotel was 45 mins. Hotel car service excellent. Snacks, drinks, towels, fr...

Wonderful room and housekeeping. Beyond that was not impressed. Steak tacos for lunch came out. Only thing in the tortilla was steak. The fish at dinner was not fresh. The butler was more like an AI Q&A. Everything they set up for us was not set up correctly. Show up at dinner. They don’t have our reservation. Text butler for boat ride home. Butler says “sorry no boats available”. I responded with...

3 days prior to arrival we were told we would not be able to dive - the sole reason we travelled there. We had been saying we wanted these dives for 4 months prior to our arrival and apparently there was no issue, but the link we were sent for final confirmation did not work. Of course no one called us back. For the price of the room, I would say the service is really below normal standards.
