NOMAD Mykonos: A Secluded Adults-Only Oasis with Exceptional Service and Chic Design
NOMAD Mykonos, a distinguished Michelin Key One-Keys property, consistently garners high praise as a tranquil adults-only retreat on the vibrant island of Mykonos. Guests frequently describe their stays as "spectacular," "magical," and "one of the best hotel experiences" they have ever had. The hotel boasts a superb overall rating, with Booking.com showing a 9.3 out of 10 based on numerous positive reviews.
1. Overall Rating & Sentiment
The general consensus is overwhelmingly positive, highlighting a serene and luxurious escape. Guests are captivated by the hotel's atmosphere, design, and the genuine hospitality of the staff. It's often recommended for those seeking relaxation and a sophisticated, yet rustic, Mykonian experience away from the island's busier areas.
2. Key Highlights
Guests consistently rave about several standout features:
- Exceptional Service & Staff: The team is repeatedly lauded for being "incredible," "exceptional," "amazing," and "attentive," going "above and beyond" to ensure a stress-free and individualized experience.
- Stunning Design & Ambiance: The hotel blends Cycladic architecture with contemporary aesthetics, creating a "chic in simplicity" and "luxurious but rustic" feel. Minimalist interiors with earthy tones, roughly hewn walls, and natural materials contribute to a serene and stylish environment.
- Private Pools & Hot Tubs: Many suites feature private pools or hot tubs, offering an exclusive and intimate experience with often fantastic sea views.
- Tranquil Setting: NOMAD Mykonos provides a peaceful oasis, contrasting with the island's livelier areas, making it ideal for relaxation.
- Incredible Breakfast: The breakfast experience is a frequent highlight, often described as extensive, delicious, and one of the best guests have ever had.
3. Room Quality
The 14 suites at NOMAD Mykonos are described as "phenomenal," "spacious," "cool, calm and chic." They are meticulously designed with Myconian minimalism, featuring roughly hewn walls, statement ceramics, and neutral fabrics. Comfort is a priority, with king-size beds and luxury bath amenities. Each suite offers a personal terrace, often with a private pool or hot tub, and many boast sea views. Bathrooms are spacious, often showcasing large marble sinks and natural stone finishes. Smart TVs can be provided upon request, though the emphasis is on a serene, tech-free environment.
4. Dining Experience
The dining experience, particularly breakfast, receives widespread acclaim. It is consistently rated as "incredible," "excellent," and even "the best I've ever had," with guests feeling "spoilt for choice." The multi-course breakfast typically includes a drink, a pre-breakfast dish (like Greek yogurt), a breakfast starter, a main course, and a sweet item, along with champagne, local specialties, and fresh pastries. The hotel's restaurant, Kukulu, serves fresh, naturally sourced Greek and Mediterranean cuisine, with vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options available. While breakfast is consistently praised, some guests have noted that the dinner menu could be more varied.
5. Service & Staff
The service at NOMAD Mykonos is a consistent highlight, with staff repeatedly praised for their "exceptional," "amazing," and "impeccable" hospitality. They are described as kind, friendly, attentive, discreet, and always willing to go "above and beyond" to assist guests, even with issues outside of hotel arrangements. Many guests express feeling like royalty and that the team makes everything stress-free.
6. Location & Accessibility
NOMAD Mykonos is situated on the tranquil southeast coast of Mykonos, in Kalo Livadi. It offers a peaceful escape, blending harmoniously into the craggy hillside, with glimpses of the Aegean Sea. Kalo Livadi beach, described as one of Mykonos's prettiest, is a short 5-10 minute walk from the hotel. Mykonos International Airport is approximately a 15-minute drive away, and airport transfers can be arranged.
However, the hotel's secluded location means that transport links to Mykonos Town (a 20-25 minute drive) are poor, especially outside of peak season. Guests strongly recommend renting a car or budgeting for expensive taxis to explore the island, as walking on the narrow roads to the nearest bus stop can be dangerous.
7. Value & Pricing
While specific price ranges vary depending on the season and suite type, NOMAD Mykonos is generally considered a luxury property, reflected in its Michelin Key status. Guests who have stayed there often feel it offers excellent value for the experience provided, with many expressing a strong desire to return. Packages including breakfast are common.
8. Common Complaints
Despite the overwhelmingly positive feedback, a few recurring points of criticism include:
- Limited Transport Options: The most significant complaint is the lack of convenient public transportation, especially during the off-season, making a rental car almost essential for exploring beyond Kalo Livadi. Taxis can also be very expensive.
- Cold Pools: Both communal and private pools are often unheated, leading to them being quite cold and less enjoyable during cooler or windy periods. Some hot tubs were also noted to not get sufficiently hot.
- Dinner Menu Variety: A few guests expressed a desire for more variety in the dinner menu at the hotel's restaurant.
- Construction Noise: There have been mentions of ongoing or abandoned construction in the surrounding areas.
- Wind: Mykonos can be windy, which some guests found painful daily and impacted their ability to enjoy outdoor amenities.
- Potential for Limited Privacy: Some rooms, due to the stepped layout, might have outdoor areas visible to guests staying above.
- Adults-Only Policy: While a highlight for many, it's important to note for families that NOMAD Mykonos is an adults-only property and does not allow children under 13.

My husband and I spent our honeymoon in Greece in late September and Nomad is where stayed during the Mykonos leg of our trip. This was the nicest hotel I’ve ever stayed at. The staff was so attentive and friendly, the rooms were gorgeous, and the food was amazing. They were willing to accommodate any request. I loved the breakfast in bed that they would bring to your room. Small, luxurious hotel with beautiful, clean rooms and lovely staff. The food is excellent, and if you wish, breakfast can be brought to your room at no additional charge. Some rooms offer a stunning view of the sea and, on clear days, even of the island of Naxos. Please note that the rooms are built in a stepped layout, so guests staying above you might be able to see into your outdoor area. Howe...

We didn’t want to leave. From the moment we were welcomed with lemonade and records played on a turnstile to our room with a private pool and view of the beach, we felt pampered and relaxed. Breakfast was delivered to our room. Our last evening we ate by the hotel pool. It was a short and easy walk to the beach and an easy twenty minute drive to the Old Harbor (touristy part of town).
