2. Key Highlights

Guests consistently praise several key aspects of Les Pins de Cesar:

  • Exceptional Spa Facilities: The Nuxe spa is a significant draw, featuring a 40-foot indoor pool, a Tylarium sauna, and an outdoor Japanese jacuzzi. Many consider the spa "amazing" and "super clean."
  • Idyllic Location & Grounds: The hotel is set within a 20-hectare nature preserve filled with Austrian black pines, offering a serene and green environment. Its proximity to the iconic white chalk cliffs of Étretat (just 5-10 minutes away) is also a major highlight.
  • Charming Design & Ambiance: The property, a family estate converted into a boutique hotel, combines classic country-house aesthetics with stylish and luxurious touches, creating an elegant and warm atmosphere.
  • Gourmet Breakfast: The breakfast is frequently described as "extravagant," "amazing," and a "true taste of Normandy," featuring local cheeses and pastries served in the winter garden.

3. Room Quality

The rooms at Les Pins de Cesar are distinctive and comfortable, spread across three century-old houses, each with a unique floor plan and decor. They are furnished in a rustic-chic style, often featuring bold colors and luxurious amenities like freestanding bathtubs. Deluxe double rooms are particularly spacious (30-35m²) and include a walk-in shower and a large (180cm x 200cm) comfortable bed. Some "nature rooms" are bungalows designed for immersion in the natural environment.

4. Dining Experience

Dining at Les Pins de Cesar emphasizes a "welcoming, hearty, and gourmet" philosophy, focusing on generous dishes made with seasonal and local Normandy produce. Breakfast is a highlight, offering an "extravagant spread" in the winter garden with fresh and tasty options, including local cheeses and pastries. Lunch and dinner are available by reservation in the hotel's lounges. Guests can also enjoy cocktails at the bar or tea in the tea room. A unique offering allows guests to order picnic or barbecue baskets to enjoy anywhere on the extensive grounds. While the food quality is generally praised, with one guest loving a roast duck dish, some note that dinner options can be limited.

5. Service & Staff

The service and staff at Les Pins de Cesar consistently receive high marks for their hospitality. Guests describe the staff as "super helpful and consistently helpful," "very nice," and "friendly." Reviews highlight the team's attentiveness, discretion, and professionalism, even in handling special events like weddings, where the director, Emilie, was particularly praised for her patience and advice.

6. Location & Accessibility

Les Pins de Cesar is ideally situated in Saint-Jouin-Bruneval, just 5-10 minutes (approximately 8 km or 5 miles) from the famous Étretat cliffs and beaches. The hotel itself is nestled within a 20-hectare nature preserve, offering peaceful surroundings. Nearby attractions include Les Jardins d'Étretat and Golf d'Étretat. The property is also within reasonable driving distance of Honfleur (17 miles) and Deauville (21 miles). Free parking is available on site, including an EV charging station. Deauville – Normandie Airport is about 30 miles (49 km) away.

7. Value & Pricing

Guests rate the hotel 8.3 out of 10 for value for money. Room prices can start from around €235, with recent bookings showing prices around €275. There are additional charges for extra beds, ranging from €30 to €60 depending on the room category. While the spa treatments are highly regarded, some guests note they can be "a bit pricey." One guest also felt the dinner, priced at €40 per person for a limited menu and a "self-service" concept, was expensive for the value offered.

8. Common Complaints

While overall feedback is positive, some recurring issues and criticisms include:

  • Limited Dinner Options: Several guests mentioned a lack of variety in the dinner menu, with one noting only three dishes available for a week-long stay, which felt limited for the price.
  • Spa Treatment Costs: Although the spa is a highlight, the treatments are considered "a bit pricey" by some.
  • Room-Specific Quirks: In some "nature rooms" (bungalows), the shower is located outside, though the toilet is inside. Additionally, a fan provided in such a room was deemed insufficient during warmer summer nights, making the room uncomfortable on hot days.
  • Minor Amenities/Design Issues: A few guests noted a lack of sufficient storage for clothes and bathroom items in certain rooms, and insufficient lighting near the bathroom sink for applying makeup in one specific room ("Le jardinier"). One unique criticism mentioned a hallway access to a room via a sanitary facility, which was considered incongruous for a four-star hotel.
  • Cobwebs: One guest briefly mentioned "spiders/cobwebs" in the rooms, though this was not a widespread complaint.

We stayed on June 24 and throughly enjoyed! Beautiful landscapes, cozy outdoor seating, a comfortable room, and a wonderful 3-course dinner. Our only regret is not staying two nights to try the picnic option. The grounds were impeccably maintained, and we loved our morning run through the surrounding region.

The hotel is beautifully located in the heart of nature, surrounded by lush, well-maintained gardens. We stayed in one of the “nature rooms”—a bungalow designed to immerse you in a peaceful, natural environment. The concept is unique and truly tranquil. Note that there’s no Wi-Fi, the shower is located outside the bungalow (though the toilet is inside). Note that the fan provided wasn’t sufficie...

Absolutely loved our stay here. It was a very serene, peaceful setting located on a beautiful property. We especially loved the dinner service we opted in for each night of our stay-the menu featured a roast duck with sweet potato that we greatly enjoyed and can’t seem to replicate at home! The service, staff, and amenities were excellent, Les Pins is definitely worth a visit.

Beautiful hotel near Etretat. A perfect base to explore the area. A beautiful property in the countryside, spread over a large area, beautifully kept, excellent spa with pool, jacuzzi, sauna and tennis court. Very pampering. But the best is the service and kindness of the staff. Thank you Elina and Cathy for everything.

Lovely small hotel, with its small buildings spread across a beautiful landscaped property. This is the perfect place if you want to be surrounded by nature and to relax. The room was great, with a comfortable bed and a nice tub. Same for the breakfast. We also enjoyed the jacuzzi and the heated pool. Étretat is less than 20m away (by car), so the location couldn’t be any better. The staff was ver...

Had a wonderful stay at Les Pins. The staff is very friendly and accomodating and the location is outstanding. Loved the peace and quiet surrounding the place. Breakfast is great (do try the homemade hazelnut spread!); dinner is fine but nothing special.
