- Load Shedding (Power Outages): One guest mentioned that the room's air conditioner was undersized and that repeated power outages (load-shedding) made the room uncomfortable at times, particularly noting a lack of backup power compared to other hotels.
- Room Temperature Control: Related to the above, an undersized air conditioner was mentioned as an issue.
- Older Towels: One review from 2023 noted old and fraying bathroom towels.
It's important to note that many recent reviews do not mention these issues, and the property underwent significant refurbishment after floods in 2023, suggesting that some concerns may have been addressed. The consistent praise for comfort and attention to detail in newer reviews implies these are not widespread or current problems.

We had the opportunity to stay here in December 2025, and were thrilled with the staff, the ambiance, the food and the atmosphere of this hotel! Conrad and Franklin made sure all of our needs were met and were the most gracious hosts during our stay. We highly recommend The Last Word when visiting The winelands in South Africa. The courtyard off our room was an added bonus!
