Key Highlights
Guests frequently laud several aspects of the Kimpton Schofield Hotel. Its location is a standout feature, offering easy walking access to major attractions. The friendly and helpful staff consistently receive numerous compliments for their attentiveness and politeness. The design of the hotel, which tastefully blends the building's 1902 Victorian facade with a cool, classic, and modern interior, is also a significant draw, featuring pale wood, dark slate, linen sofas, and copper accents. Amenities like the complimentary nightly wine hour and morning coffee/tea service are well-loved Kimpton hallmarks. The hotel's strong pet-friendly policy, offering treats, beds, and bowls, further enhances its appeal.
Room Quality
Rooms at the Kimpton Schofield Hotel are generally described as spacious, clean, and comfortable. Guests particularly appreciate the supremely comfortable pillow-top beds and silky, smooth Frette linens, ensuring a restful night's sleep. The bathrooms are often highlighted for their beauty, featuring open shower concepts with excellent water pressure and luxury Atelier Bloem bath amenities. While the design is largely modern and understated, with artistic touches like Victorian-era light boxes and plants, a few recent reviews have suggested that some rooms and amenities might be starting to feel slightly dated.
Dining Experience
The hotel's on-site restaurant, Betts, serves classic American dishes with an emphasis on fresh, quality, and locally sourced ingredients. Breakfast and weekend brunch are particularly popular with both hotel guests and locals, with the "Bubbie's board" (an assemble-your-own salmon bagel platter) being a signature item. The service at Betts is noted as swift, and the food quality is generally described as decent to gourmet. The craft cocktail bar is a lively spot, especially during happy hour.

This central position allows guests to easily walk to numerous major attractions, including Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse, Progressive Field, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (about a 10-minute walk), and Playhouse Square. Conveniently, a Heinen's Grocery Store, known for its local produce and prepared foods, is located directly opposite the hotel. Public transport options are also accessible, with the Tower City - Public Square underground station about a 10-minute walk away.
Value & Pricing
While some older reviews praise the Kimpton Schofield Hotel for offering "great value for the money", more recent feedback indicates some guest dissatisfaction regarding value, particularly concerning parking fees and limited breakfast options. Standard rooms can range from approximately $199 to $395 per night, with suites ranging from $418 to $524. Average weeknight prices are around $212, and weekend nights average $222. Valet parking is available but comes with a significant fee, typically $52 plus tax per night, with additional charges for oversized vehicles.
Common Complaints
Despite the high satisfaction, some recurring issues are mentioned by guests. Noise levels from the street are a frequent concern, with some guests recommending a white noise machine for a better night's sleep. The valet parking fees are also a common point of criticism, with some guests finding them exorbitant and others opting for nearby parking garages as a more affordable alternative. Occasionally, guests have expressed minor dissatisfactions with service quality and limited breakfast options. One guest reported a cleanliness issue with a piece of used chewing gum in their room and found some amenities to be a little dated.

Great service for my family and friends. My mom felt like a queen. My husband and I absolutely loved the Van Gogh Suite. Marissa and the team were so easy to work with. Food was great at Bett's, and the valets were amazing. Our guests loved the wine tastings and morning coffee. Highly recommend if you're looking for a wedding hotel!

Had a really nice one night stay with my french bulldog. Had the van gogh suite. Really fun. It even had a guitar on the wall you could jam out with if you were musically inclined which I am not lol. But cool none the less. Great views from the room and two tvs along with ordering a burger from downstairs was just what I needed after a long drive. Staff were friendly and helped answer all my quest...

Pretty nice hotel in a centrally located part of the city. It was great to have my pets in here, and I stayed in their apartment style room. It was amazing. I tried out Betts, their restaurant on the first floor, and the food was great. Gluten free and dairy free options. The room also had a personal gym and record player in it, with albums from the Black Keys and other famous artists. The only d...

The Kimpton Schofield is definitely one of the nicest hotels in downtown Cleveland without feeling stuffy. The staff is friendly and polite while professional. My room was clean and well maintained with comfortable furnishings.

I should have read the reviews and realized the hotel was pet-friendly...my fault. However, if you're going to be a pet-friendly hotel, there has to be responsibility to the rest of the guests that big dogs shouldn't be allowed to bark for 20 minutes at 9pm. That is terrible service. I also realize that hotels are now going with the glass showers, but if you can't close the shower and big drafts c...

Great place to stay in downtown Cleveland. Rooms are clean, large, and well designed. When you compare this property against the others, there is nothing like it in Cleveland. To add, complimentary coffee in the morning and wine in evening add great value versus others where you have to pay. Will never stay at another property (especially the one across the street) again.
